Level One
This is just a suggested activity; you can modify, simplify, or enhance the activity
depending on the type of learners you have.
Activity 1
(Focus on the sound of the letter)
Step 1: Group the class as desired by the teacher based on the total number (3-5
groups is suggested grouping)
Step 2: The teacher will show a poster of pictures
Step 3: The teacher will place the letters on the table
Step 4: In choosing who will answer or give the beginning sound of the picture to
be displayed, it will be based on what number the teacher will pick (draw lots).
Make sure each group member has their own assigned number of how many
members each group has. Example: 1 to 5.
Step 5: The drawn number is the only one who will stand to take the lead in giving
the correct beginning sound of the picture that the teacher will show. Wait for the
teacher's GO signal before pressing the buzzer.
Step 6: The first fastest to press the buzzer and with the correct answer giving the
beginning sound of the picture shown will receive 1 point and be given a chance
to color the letter on his Winner Card.
Step 7: The group that first completes the coloring of all the letters on the Winner
Card will be declared winner.
Step 8: The letter sound game will be repeated until all Winner Cards are finished.

Level One

Before the start of the game let the pupils read and be familiarize with the words
on the WORD FAMILIES and VOWEL chart.
Activity: (Focus on syllables)
Step 1: Group the class as desired by the teacher based on the total number (3-5
groups is suggested grouping)
Step 2: TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT teams will play. In this game, one by one the folder will
be opened with the equivalent amount or money if the enclosed syllable is
pronounced correctly.
Step 3: As in the previous game, the teacher will first draw the number of which
members will answer.
Step 4: After the teacher draws the number, each selected child will press the
buzzer first. Wait for the teacher’s ‘Go’ signal before pressing the buzzer.
Step 5: The first person to press will be given the opportunity to choose a folder
and recite the syllable inside the folder but the teacher will ask him first ‘TAKE IT
OR LEAVE IT’. When he chooses TAKE IT, he needs to give the correct syllable to
get the money inside the folder. Otherwise, other groups will share the money
within the folder if the answer is wrong.
Step 6: If the student chooses LEAVE IT, he will select anybody from the other
group to answer or read the syllable inside the folder. If the answer of the other
group is wrong, he and his group will receive double the money, but in the event
the other group can give the correct answer the group will get the amount inside
the folder double.
Step 7: Every money collected will be glued to him/team — team’s bank glued to
the blackboard. Add the money accumulated
Step 8: When the brief case is over, each group will start counting their money
with the help and guidance of the teacher. (Integration of NUMERACY)
Once the skill of giving the sound of letters and syllables has been acquired, the
Final Forecast will be conducted. All passes will advance to the second level of
interactive reading activities. Students will be given a small prize.
