• It starts from our nose & mouth and end at the lungs
• If the airway is blocked we will not be able to breath

• It is the flow of blood all over the body
• For proper circulation body requires:
• Heart to pump the blood
• Blood vessels to carry the blood
• Adequate amount of blood

for a longer duration of time, etc.

Check for breathing
Loosen tight clothing
Disperse the crowd, ensure adequate ventilation.
Raise the legs 6-12 inches above ground by using
pillow, bag or your lap for 10 min.

If the patient doesn’t gain consciousness, call
doctor/ambulance.
Once patient regains consciousness give him something to
drink.

Don'ts
• Don’t give anything to drink If the patient is
unconscious.
• Don’t rub hands & feets.

Seizures / Fits
Seizures are abnormal electrical activity in the brain.
What causes seizures?
• Fever
• High BP
• Tension, etc.

Check scene safety, if scene is safe approach the patient.
Remove nearby object, that may lead to injury to the
patient.
Place soft padding underneath the head.
Loosen any tight clothing & ensure adequate ventilation.
After the seizure has stopped, turn the patient in recovery
position.

Don’t restrict patient motion, let the seizure play out.
Don’t open the mouth & place objects inside
Don’t give anything to drink if the patient is unconscious
Don’t make the patient smell pungent objects such as
shoes, shocks & onions
Don’t seek quacks for treatments , call an ambulance or
doctor.
Airway
The tongue or secretions may block the airway
of the patient, that is why it is important to turn
the patient in recovery position.

• Monitor breathing every 2 min.
• If injuries allow, turn to the other side after 30 minutes
• Don’t turn pregnant ladies on their right side.
Heart Attack
Common Symptoms:
• Chest Pain (Squeezing, Tightness, Pressure) – Sometimes radiating to left arm, jaw
or upper back
• Shortness of breath
• Sweating
• Nausea & vomiting
Silent Heart Attack
• No Chest Pain
• May present as heart burn or indigestion
• Seen more commonly in Diabetics, Women
and elderly
• If suspicious seek medical advice immediately

• Reassure the person
• Loosen tight clothing
• Let the person sit in a comfortable position
• Ask for any prescribed medications
(e.g. – Aspirin or Sorbitrate)
• Alert the EMS service.
Don’ts
• Do not increase mental or physical stress
• Do not give anything to eat or drink
• Don’t give any medicine unless prescribed

• Encourage coughing in case of partial choking

Don’t Give anything to drink
Ask the victim “Are you choking?” to confirm chocking
Perform abdominal thrusts on the patient.
In case of a child, get to the level of the child by kneeling.
In case of infant perform 5 back slaps & 5 chest thrusts
alternatively.
• In case of pregnant women or obese patient perform, chest
thrusts.
• If the patient becomes unresponsive call an ambulance & start
CPR.

Do’s
• Apply direct pressure on the wound with a gloved
hand.
• Apply bandages or dressing pads on the injured
site
• If the pads are soaked in blood, apply a new pad
over it.
• If you suspect internal bleeding, cover the patient
with a blanket & transport to a nearby hospital.
Don’ts
• Don’t remove the bandage to check if the
bleeding has stopped
• Don’t tie the bandage too tight.
• Don’t give anything to eat or drink.

• Cool the burned part with running water for 10-15 min in case of first & Second degree
burns
• Cover the burned part with loose sterile dressing
• Remove any jewelry from affected body part.
• In case of third degree burns
• Activate EMS
• Cover the burnt area with dry sterile blanket or burn sheet.
Don’ts
• Don’t apply ice or over burnt area
• Don’t break blisters
• Don’t apply water over third degree burns
• Don’t remove any stuck clothing from skin.
