Develop a simple website for a well-defined problem.
Assessment Overview
This assignment will allow students to apply their knowledge of basic web design principles, WordPress
customization, and content creation in a practical and meaningful way. It will also help them develop
essential skills for building and managing websites, which are valuable in today's digital age.
Assessment Description
Your task is to create a personal portfolio website using WordPress. Your portfolio website should
showcase your skills, projects, experiences, and any other relevant information that you want to
highlight to potential employers or clients.
Assessment Requirements
1. Website Structure:
• Create a homepage that introduces your website.
• Include at least three additional pages such as "About Me," "Blog," and "Contact."
2. Design and Layout:
• Choose an appropriate WordPress theme for your portfolio website. You can use a free
theme from the WordPress Theme Directory.
• Design a navigation menu for easy access to different sections of your website.
3. Content Creation:
• Write a compelling "About Me" page that introduces yourself to your visitors.
• Create a blog post on a topic of your choice. The post should be well-written, engaging,
and relevant to your audience.
4. Multimedia Integration:
• Incorporate multimedia elements such as images and videos to enhance your portfolio
content.
5. Optimization and Responsiveness:
• Optimize your website for search engines (SEO) by using relevant keywords, meta tags,
and descriptions.
• Ensure that your website is responsive and mobile-friendly, so it looks great on all
devices and screen sizes.

6. Testing and Launch:
• Test your website thoroughly to identify and fix any bugs, errors, or issues.
• Once you're satisfied with your website, publish all the pages and launch the site to
make it live on the internet.
• Test the web link in a different web browser to check if your website is live.
• Note: The marking team must be able to view your website to assess the website.

Submission in this particular case would mean to finish constructing your website by the
due date set for this assignment - Sunday, 6th April 2025, 11:55 PM (Fiji Time).
You must submit the link (URL) of your live portfolio website (Home page) in the
Assignment 1 Dropbox available on the IS121 Moodle page.
Ensure that your website remains accessible and functional for evaluation purposes.
Your website will be accessed via the URL given and assessed by the marking team. Any
changes to your website after the due date would be considered an act of plagiarism and
penalties will apply accordingly. “Corrected versions” submitted through other channels will
not be accepted, nor will late assignments be accepted.
Individual Assignment
This assignment is to be completed individually. Group work is NOT allowed for this assignment. You
must complete the assignment on your own merit in your WordPress account to get the marks
allocated to this assignment. Your current WordPress account which you used to complete the
WordPress labs will also be used to complete this assignment. Use the same domain as for the labs.
Note: Follow the marking rubric for distribution of the marks.
Plagiarism
Any kind of plagiarism or cheating; like submission of work that is not your own will lead to a ZERO
(0) score AND you will be subject to disciplinary action. Discussion is permitted however you must
avoid giving your working copy or the final assignment to anyone. This increases the risk of your
assignment being cited as a plagiarized work.
For this course, plagiarism detection software will be actively used to identify similar assignments.ALL
detected assignments will receive a mark of ZERO and will be referred to the disciplinary committee.
