AMAZON SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT CGPA CUTOFF INTERVIEW ROUND The interview lasted about an hour and 15 minutes with an introduction and little discussion about projects. I was asked relatively simple questions from graphs. INFLUENCE OF PROJECTS/INTERNSHIPS 7 3/5 Although might not be that relevant for the SDE role, but my interviewer also discussed my projects with me regardless. Good way to have an engaging discussion, otherwise they would straight away jump to the coding questions. SELECTION PROCESS Stage 1 CODING ROUND INFLUENCE OF PORS/EAA'S 1/5 SPECIFIC SKILLSET REQUIRED FOR INTERVIEW(S) Good Grasp of Data Structures and Algorithms and ability to write out a simple algorithm (Pseudocode) to solve the problem. Stage 2 INTERVIEW ROUND SUGGESTIONS FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED PROCESS Enough practice with Leetcode and InterviewBit should do the trick. Try to cover at least 60-70 percent of problems across all topics. If you aren't well-versed in a programming language, can use resources like w3schools and GfG. Then go ahead and practice in contests across platforms like Codeforces, Atcoder, LC, and IB. This will prepare you for the time-constrained scenario for solving the problems. IB can give you good practice as well. PARTING ADVICE Practice and dedication will be the key to crack all the situtations which will come up in your path. A little stress is good enough to keep you on the right track. But too much of it will hamper your progress. Keep some friends around with similar goals to help you stay focussed. GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS DOs AMAZON SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT Practise DSA and other fundamentals essential for almost any SDE role. Keep in handy a few other things like projects(of any kind, self projects of web-development which use React can be dealt with in depth by the interviewer) to have a proper discussion with the interviewer. DON'Ts Do not waste time till you find the right course or roadmap. SELECTION PROCESS Test Round AMERICAN EXPRESS SUMMER ANALYST CGPA CUTOFF NONE SELECTION PROCESS Stage 1 Test Stage 2 Interview 1 Stage 3 Interview 2 The application process consisted of a test round with three sections: Quant, Machine Learning, and Business Case Study. The Quant section was compulsory and you could opt for either the Machine Learning or Business Case Study question. I found the Quant section to be challenging, as it consisted of 20 aptitude questions that involved various puzzles and data inference questions based on pie charts and other plots. However, I managed to complete all the questions within the allotted time of 30 minutes. The Machine Learning and Case Study sections were relatively easier. The Business Case Study was particularly interesting, with about 130 unlockable questions from different aspects of business like marketing and financing. You had to choose the right set of questions to answer a single business question, which was an MCQ with four options. Interview Round 1 After the test round, I was shortlisted for the interview round. The first round of the interview was with a senior manager from the marketing team who had 7-8 years of experience. He mostly grilled me on my CV and asked questions based on what was written in it. He also asked me why I wanted to join AmEx. Overall, he was very friendly with me. Some of my friends who were also shortlisted for AmEx were asked some puzzles in the first round. Interview Round 2 The second round of the interview started with more intense CV grilling. The interviewer asked more questions about the results and inference of my past projects and internships. Following this, I was asked a data problem statement and had to give a data pipeline on how to solve the problem statement. More importance was given to feature engineering. Following this, I was asked standard HR questions, questions about AmEx, and motivation to join AmEx. I was also asked about the business model of AmEx. Attending the AmEx presentation was extremely helpful for me. INFLUENCE OF PROJECTS/INTERNSHIPS 4/5 The projects and internships plays important role in CV shortlisting. Along with questions in both of my interview rounds were based on my past experiences in projects and internships. SUGGESTIONS FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED PROCESS To excel in quantitative aptitude and probability questions, it is important to practice regularly and develop a strong understanding of probability and statistics. One great resource for this is the Brainsteller website, which offers a curated collection of questions and puzzles in probability and related fields. In addition to practicing quantitative aptitude and probability questions, mastering machine learning concepts is also essential for success in many industries. A great way to get started is to complete the Machine Learning course offered by Andrew Ng. Additionally, reading blogs and articles on machine learning topics on platforms such as Analytics Vidhya, Medium, and Towards Data Science can be highly beneficial in developing a deep understanding of the subject. By investing time and effort in mastering probability, statistics, and machine learning, individuals can enhance your problem-solving skills, analytical abilities, and increase your employability in a range of industries. PARTING ADVICE 1. Prepare thoroughly: The recruitment process at AmEx is rigorous, and candidates need to prepare thoroughly to excel in aptitude tests and interviews. You can take practice tests to improve your aptitude and analytical skills and read up on the company's history, products, and services. 2. Attend AmEx PPTs: Attend AmEx's pre-internship talks to gain insight into the company's culture, values, and expectations from candidates. You can also interact with AmEx employees to understand their experiences and learn from their career journeys. 3.Highlight relevant skills and experiences: During the interview round, emphasise your relevant skills and experiences, such as project management, data analysis, and problem-solving. Be confident while answering questions and show enthusiasm towards the company. AMERICAN EXPRESS SUMMER ANALYST 4. Research the company's business model: Understanding AmEx's business model, products, and services can help you answer questions about the company's operations and strategies during the interview round. You can research the company's annual reports, investor presentations, and news articles to gain insights into their business. GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS Dos: - Prepare your CV thoroughly - Highlight your achievements, skills, and relevant experiences - Read about the company's values and business model - Be honest and transparent in your CV Don'ts: - Do not fake or exaggerate information in your CV - Do not answer test questions if you are not 100% sure as it has negative marking - Avoid being dishonest or hiding gaps in your experience. SELECTION PROCESS TEST APT QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT The first stage was a 2-hour online coding test. The test comprised of 6 coding questions, no MCQs or anything else. I would estimate the question complexity to span 1400 - 1800 Codeforces rating or so, the questions were definitely of a slightly higher level than the average CDC coding test that season. I did quite well in the test – in the ballpark of 3 or 4 fully correct questions and the remaining having between 60 and 80% test cases passing, and was moderately confident about expecting a shortlist. Interview Round 1 ELIGIBLE DEPARTMENTS CSE, ECE, EE, MA, IM CGPA CUTOFF 8 SELECTION PROCESS Stage 1 TEST Stage 2 Interview Round 1 Stage 3 Interview Round 2 Stage 4 Interview Round 3 The first interview was on Google Meet with a shared Hackerrank link, where I had to run my code to demonstrate correctness. There were no formal testcases, the interviewer verbally described some to me or asked me to come up with them myself and write some minimal boilerplate code to run my solution against them. The round was entirely based on trees. I was first asked the different traversals and had to implement one. Then, I was asked to write an algorithm to edit the tree so that the in-order traversal of the new tree was equal to the pre-order traversal of the original, or something similar. I developed a solution using an external stack which the interviewer was not expecting. After I demonstrated correctness and implemented his testcase, he asked me to optimize away this space usage by reusing pointers within the tree. I took some time here but with some hints I was able to implement a solution. I was asked one final modification to this question which I only verbally described as we were out of time. The interview overran the timeslot and lasted 65 minutes, immediately after which I was asked to join the next round. Interview Round 2 The next round was a change of pace as it did not involve CP at all – it was entirely based on logic puzzles such as those on Brainstellar and maths questions. I was able to do most questions well, but one of the maths questions was proving a theorem about the subsets of a set of numbers and I took a lot of hints and time to reach the end of it. This single question probably took 30+ minutes in the interview. I was quite disheartened during this, and I think my saving grace was that I was constantly thinking out loud so the interviewer could see that I was trying many different approaches (which might have been incorrect, but were something). Towards the end of the interview, I was asked a singular non-technical question about “Why Quant?” and I responded by saying it lay at the intersection of my interests in Machine Learning, Algorithms, and Securities Markets. This round also lasted ~one hour, and within 5 - 10 minutes of it ending I was called back for a third round. Interview Round 3 The third round had a mix of small CP questions that I was asked to verbally describe my approach to (along with time/space complexity analysis), along with some more puzzles and maths questions. One of the maths questions again involved a multi-stage proof about coloring points on a 2D plane and I was able to solve all versions of it, with some hints. The interview also ended with the same question about “Why Quant?” and I was told at the end to expect a decision within an hour. Around 40 minutes later I was called by the Placecomm member who was coordinating interviews at APT and informed of my offer. INFLUENCE OF PROJECTS/INTERNSHIPS 2/5 Resume wasn't looked at in interview, I don't have data on whether this stuff was relevant for longlist/shortlist APT QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT INFLUENCE OF PORS/EAA'S 0/5 SPECIFIC SKILLSET REQUIRED FOR INTERVIEW(S) I think preparation for this role at APT should revolve around Competitive Programming. As I’ve mentioned, CP was crucial for both the coding round as well as two out of three interviews I had. In general, my experience was that quant roles or even SDE roles at quant firms had higher level of questions in their online coding rounds so practicing questions around 1600 - 1800 level would be my recommendation. The interview puzzles were largely standard ones and preparing from Brainstellar and Heard on the Street should be sufficient. In my opinion, one quick round of these resources can be done before test season and major prep can be done in parallel with the tests or as part of targeted interview prep for this role (more on this approach in the specific advise section). TED-Ed’s riddles videos are also a great resource for these questions. SUGGESTIONS FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED PROCESS Difficulties arose from my not being clear on whether to target Quant or SDE profiles early on. I was preparing for both and only at the very end did I decide to put the Quant firms higher on my priority list. Owing to this, I spent less time on puzzles than I probably should have, but it worked out in the end. I was also limited in the number of Quant opportunities available for my branch, which reduced the margin of error I was allowed in the coding tests. Aside from this, I ramped up my preparation really late as I was (for some reason) expecting the CDC timeline to be a month or so later than it was. Due to this, I was still polishing my CP skills during the tests instead of targeted interview prep which that time should ideally be reserved for. GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS APT QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT For coding rounds: Go for partial solutions. Especially for the harder tests (quant companies in general), try and determine as soon as you read the problem if you can solve it fully or will have to go for a partial score. It is essential that you do not waste a lot of time on the full solution of a particular question at the expense of submitting partials to multiple questions which would’ve net you a higher score. If you have a good sense of this early, you can do the full solutions you’re comfortable with along with partials for the rest of the questions in the first pass, and then return to the question you have the fewest passing testcases or the question where you might have the highest chance of improving to a full or even a better-partial solution. Aside from this, one more learning is that doing “decent”/“good” in all tests is not a useful goal. Even if you get shortlisted for everything, you can only seriously interview for only one or two (at most 3) companies/roles on a particular Day. To this end, having 2-3 really good tests and disastrous performance on the rest is far better than having “good” performance on all tests. For interviews: By the time you’re towards the end of the test season, you should have some idea of how well you’ve done in each test and have a list of expected shortlists. Some brutal honesty would be good here and I would recommend dividing the roles into “highly likely”, “maybe”, and “highly unlikely” in terms of shortlist probability. Of course, these are based on others’ performance and as well so some idea of the baseline difficulty of the test vs your performance needs to be sought. These lists should be made on a rolling basis as tests happen and once you have a few companies which are “maybe” or better, you should start laserfocused interview prep for the 2-3 companies you aspire for and are hoping for shortlists at. I highly recommend contacting seniors who interned at these firms via Facebook and asking them in as much detail as possible what was asked in their interviews. For example, I was very confident of a DE Shaw shortlist so I reached out to seniors and prepared OOPS in that last week just for their interview. I did not end up interviewing with them finally, but if I had walked in with only CP prep I likely would’ve been well out of my depth. I also think towards the end, if you have a few of your highestpriority companies in the “highly likely” list, it might be useful to stop giving the online tests and dedicate this time to interview prep. This is something I did at the very end and probably should have done a little sooner. SELECTION PROCESS TEST APT HARDWARE PROFILE ELIGIBLE DEPARTMENTS CSE, E & ECE, EE, MA, INDUSTRIAL AND SYSTEMS ENGINEERING, PHYSICS CGPA CUTOFF 8 The written test comprised of MCQs on Digital Electronics and OOPS, 2 usual coding questions and 2 coding questions that focused on OOPS concepts and must be answered in Python Interview Round Coming to the personal interview, the first half of the interview went on with questions on Digital Electronics, with main focus on Sequential Circuit Design and Finite State Machines (FSMs). A Verilog question was also asked. Python OOPS concepts were asked in the second half of the interview. Basic knowledge of Operating Systems would be helpful. Finally the interview was wrapped up with a basic coding question in CPP. Questions on projects / prior internship experience / PoRs were not asked. Some knowledge of operating systems is also helpful. Technical Interview SUGGESTIONS FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED PROCESS Here are some of the preparation tips. Although this is a Hardware profile, the student needs to have a strong command on Python OOPS concepts too. Knowledge of Verilog would be an added advantage. At Least the basics of Verilog is a must. My interview mainly revolving around Sequential Circuit and FSM design does not mean that the student can neglect the combinational circuit part or any others. He / She needs to have a good foundation of Digital Electronic Circuits. There is no harm in building fundamentals of Analog Electronic Circuits and Signal Processing as well. PARTING ADVICE APT HARDWARE PROFILE Go through your notes and make sure your fundamentals are strong. Build your CV carefully such that it leaves a very good impression when the interviewer looks at it. Be patient and confident and believe in yourself throughout the interview and you would end up getting the offer. GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS In your CV, highlight your skills in Digital Electronic Circuits, Verilog, Python, and OOPS. If you are confident in your fundamentals in Operating Systems, then highlight that too since it would be an added advantage. Else at least mention that you have basic OS knowledge and make sure you have it. Mention your achievements clearly. PoRs and Extra-Curricular Activities are not important but it is no harm if you have any. In your interview, be confident and don’t panic. Designing a counter or an FSM can take time. Be patient and solve the given problem accurately. Think out loud in the interview. Remaining quiet while solving any problem or thinking about any question doesn’t leave a good impression on you. Be 100% confident when you answer any coding or Python OOPS questions. Interview Round The interview round primarily revolved around discussing the projects and internships mentioned in the resume. The interviewers delved into the details of representative internships or projects, seeking explanations about the motivation behind them, encountered challenges, and how they were overcome. Furthermore, a case-study test was conducted, where I was asked to provide solutions to a problem the company was facing with their current product. This round typically lasted around 30 minutes, emphasizing the need to present one's best project for discussion, as it played a significant role in shaping the final decision. Stage 2 Test - Coding, DS, Aptitude INFLUENCE OF PORS/EAA'S 0/5 SPECIFIC SKILLSET REQUIRED FOR INTERVIEW(S) Stage 3 Interview Experience in Data Science projects and in depth knowledge of ML concepts is a must. SUGGESTIONS FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED PROCESS AWL AI ENGINEERING - INDIA To prepare for the selection process, I followed a structured approach focusing on specific areas: Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA): I solved a variety of coding problems from InterviewBit, ensuring I covered the majority of the practice questions. In the weeks leading up to the selection process, I revised the challenging questions to reinforce my understanding. Although DSA wasn't my primary focus, I made sure to cover the essential concepts necessary for success. Machine Learning (ML): I found Krish Naik's YouTube playlist on Complete Machine Learning to be an excellent resource for gaining in-depth knowledge of various ML algorithms. This playlist also provided coding examples to understand and implement the algorithms from scratch. Additionally, I discovered the StatQuest YouTube channel, which offers easy-to-follow explanations of fundamental concepts. This channel also has a playlist specifically covering Probability, which was helpful for strengthening my understanding. For practice questions, I utilized Analytics Vidya's top N questions for ML and Data Science interviews. Probability and Statistics (Prob Stats): I had previously taken a course on Probability and Statistics (MA20104), which provided a theoretical foundation. Alternatively, I recommend the Stat 110 course offered by Harvard University, which is available for free on Edx or YouTube. For practice, I used assignments from Stat 110 and questions from the book "Fifty Challenging Problems in Probability." If additional practice was needed, I referred to InterviewBit's DS and ML practice questions. CV Preparation: For each section of my CV (projects, internships, positions of responsibility), I created a comprehensive list of potential interview questions and prepared answers in advance. I found it helpful to make concise notes for each heading, which I could quickly review the day before the interview. PARTING ADVICE Stay Positive and Persistent - The internship application process can be competitive, and rejections are common. Stay positive, learn from each experience, and keep trying. Persistence is key to finding the right opportunity. GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS AWL AI ENGINEERING - INDIA DO's: 1. Be properly dressed and punctual. 2. Be kind and attentive to speaker 3. They check the entire proctoring and even a small unfairness results in rejection. INFLUENCE OF PROJECTS/INTERNSHIPS ELIGIBLE DEPARTMENTS OPEN FOR ALL 3/5 Projects or internship help in deciding the role give you during your internship. INFLUENCE OF PORS/EAA'S 0/5 CGPA CUTOFF 7 SPECIFIC SKILLSET REQUIRED FOR INTERVIEW(S) No interview. SUGGESTIONS FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED PROCESS SELECTION PROCESS Have strong basics. PARTING ADVICE ONE TEST FOLLOWED BY CV SHORTLISTING Don't cheat in your exam, give it fair and square and be confident. GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS Don't cheat. SELECTION PROCESS Test 1 1st test was like 5-10 mins with basic maths questions. You have to solve as many questions as possible in that limited time with accuracy. There were too many. AXXELA TRADER Test 2 Half the part was similar to first with additional aptitude questions like puzzles etc Trading Game ELIGIBLE DEPARTMENTS ALL CGPA CUTOFF NONE SELECTION PROCESS Stage 1 the aim was to buy low and sell high among the participants in the pool and person with highest profit at the end of 5 or 6 rounds was shortlisted for interview. Interview It started with introduction. Then interviewer asked about why you are interested in this profile instead of your core branch. After that he asked me some speed math questions like 2x2 multiplication(you have to do it quickly), puzzles. Then he asked me about my experience with trading and experience with finance.I had some experience trading crypto and stocks, so he asked about my returns and what assets I traded. INFLUENCE OF PROJECTS/INTERNSHIPS 2/ 5 Test 1 INFLUENCE OF PORS/EAA'S 2/ 5 Stage 2 SPECIFIC SKILLSET REQUIRED FOR INTERVIEW(S) Test 2 Just be confident in the interview, questions are easy but you have to be quick. If you have finance background that maybe a plus. It will be good to have a basic understanding of options and futures. Stage 3 SUGGESTIONS FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED PROCESS Trading Game Practice speed maths, in every round they were testing speed and accuracy. Questions were easy just speed is the key. PARTING ADVICE Stage 4 Interview This role is good if you want to make a career in trading or want to learn about financial markets. Also consider that, it is a challenging role and has performance based incentives mainly. SELECTION PROCESS CV Shortlisting This is where all your past experiences, extra curriculars, PORs and achievements are evaluated. Buddy Sessions BAIN & COMPANY CONSULTING Next up, after CVs were shortlisted, we had the Buddy Sessions wherein a Buddy (i.e a person working in Bain) is allotted to you, with whom you can prepare for the upcoming interviews, this involves case prep and guesstimate prep. Manager Interview and Partner Round CGPA CUTOFF NO EXPLICIT CGPA CUTOFF BUT A CGPA OF 8.5+ SHOULD BE SAFE SELECTION PROCESS Stage 1 CV Shortlisting Stage 2 Buddy Sessions Stage 3 Manager Interview and Partner Round Post the buddy round we had a manager interview and then finally a partner round which mostly included questions from your CV and general HR questions and one case or guesstimate INFLUENCE OF PROJECTS/INTERNSHIPS 5/ 5 Companies in consult really value your previous experience and hence having previous internship experience no matter in whatever field is required. Since these companies look for spikes, having some big brand intern is really helpful. INFLUENCE OF PORS/EAA'S 5/ 5 It is again about peaks. If your CV shows consistent academic effort/ remarkable internship experience along with EAA or a POR then it adds credibility to your profile and can help in CV shortlist SPECIFIC SKILLSET REQUIRED FOR INTERVIEW(S) Solving cases and guesstimates and interpersonal skills (majorly communicating clearly) are two important skills required. SUGGESTIONS FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED PROCESS In order to prepare for the interview process at Bain, there are two things that one must prepare for which is Guesstimates and Business Cases. There is no such extensive preparation that is required for consulting interviews. You just have to be very articulate, clear and have good quantitative abilities. So to prepare for these I used majorly two books during the last 2 weeks before my interviews Case Interviews Cracked (CIC - IIT Bombay) and Day 1 (IIT Madras). Guesstimates can also be practiced form the same books. However, more than just the “book” oriented prep, it is more important to have an overall case prep in groups. So it is always advised to make a small group of people who would sit together daily and prepare for these case and guesstimates. This is a process where one person is the interviewer and asks the other (interviewee) to proceed with the case or the guesstimate. PARTING ADVICE BAIN & COMPANY CONSULTING Advice from my end would be that CDC is a very challenging and long process that takes a lot of toll on ones mental and emotional health. I just want everyone to be parts of groups, prepare together and stay in touch with seniors and mentors throught the process. Also, it is very necessary to understand that a particular company might always be the right fit for you, and that can be grounds for rejection as well, and you never have to take rejections personally. GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS DO NOT hesitate to ask questions from your interviewer, never be underconfident or fumble. They don't expect you to be a know-itall so just relax and be confident. SELECTION PROCESS TEST BAJAJ AUTO CORE CGPA CUTOFF 8+ SELECTION PROCESS Aptitude Test Bajaj Auto conducts a preliminary 90-minute aptitude (20) + English (20) + Quant (20) + domain (30)-based test, with applicants who pass the domain-based assessments being sent for psychometric testing. The questions in the core section are much more theoretical and have fewer numerical types. The MCQ questions are based on GATE-level difficulty. The questions were from Solid Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Kinematics of Machines and IC Engines, and Application of Thermodynamics. These were the four major segments that covered most of the paper in the core section. Psychometric Test For the psychometric testing round, the best way to answer the questions is to be as honest about yourself as possible. In the test, many questions are repeated to test the credibility of your answers. Hence, the best advice would be to follow your gut. Interview Round After these two rounds, there is the interview. The interview round has two parts: technical and HR. For the interview round, prepare your CV thoroughly because most of the time in this round will be devoted to CV grilling. The interviewer might then ask about your favorite subjects and then ask questions from there. Hence, be thorough with your introduction and CV. INFLUENCE OF PROJECTS/INTERNSHIPS Psychometric 4/5 test A lot of questions will be asked about your internships/ projects during the interview. Having a project in Mechanical or related domain will be preferable. Even if your CGPA is low, experience gained through projects and internships can compensate. Interview INFLUENCE OF PORS/EAA'S 1/5 While PORs don't matter much in the case of core companies, having a POR in research groups like Team KART, AGV, etc. can give you an edge. SPECIFIC SKILLSET REQUIRED FOR INTERVIEW(S) BAJAJ AUTO, CORE Baic soft skills are necessary for every interview. If you are from Mechanical Departent, a holistic understanding of all your course subjects is important. Technical skills required for this domain: MATLAB/Simulink (for simulation), Finite Element Method. As industries are moving towards industry 4.0, robotics is a useful skill. SUGGESTIONS FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED PROCESS MATLAB can be learned from courses offered online. For the technical round, preparing questions from GATE previous year's questions will be beneficial. There is a website called IndiaBix where you can give online assessments related to specific topics. It's very good for a last-minute revision. PARTING ADVICE If you are in your second year and going to sit for internships, they will not expect much from you. So you should highlight only those things in your CV about which you are confident and have good insights. Do not be discouraged if you have not bagged an intern by day 1/2/3. Face the next day with confidence that you will achieve your goals and give your best in the interview. GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS Start your preparation for internships right from the beginning of summer vacation. Create an excel list of companies you are targeting and do an in-depth analysis of each company (Revenue, interesting facts, recent news, headquarters, etc.) as it will be helpful during the interview. You can follow the LinkedIn pages of your target companies to get more details about the company’s goals and recent achievements. Follow institute clubs like Communique, institute news organization, and hall group posts for mock PI, GD, as it will be helpful for your preparation. For GDs, practice with your friends/batchmate frequently as it helps to improve communication, and it helps in PI also. Before the CDC portal opens for CV, write down a minimum of 5–6 detailed points about all the internships, projects, POR, courses completed, and extracurricular activities on a sheet of paper. It will be helpful for PI as well as CV generation. During the interview, do not panic even if you do not know the answer to a question. You can say I do not know. Interviewers may swerve you from your comfort zone. Keep your cool and be confident and optimistic. Do not add any point in the CV that you cannot justify. As said before, this can be ensured by writing down all the points in a paper. SELECTION PROCESS Interview Round 1 BCG (BOSTON CONSULTING GROUP) CONSULTING ELIGIBLE DEPARTMENTS 1st round consists of usually a guesstimate and CV based/generic overall smartness check questions; it was a market entry case for an NBFC surprisingly (for me), usually taken by a Project Lead; difficulty level 4/5 Interview Round 2 2nd round would consist of a basic case: profitability, market entry, etc. along with CV based and company fit questions (guesstimate, CV based and company fit questions for me; may differ on case to case basis) 4/5 INFLUENCE OF PROJECTS/INTERNSHIPS 4/5 OPEN TO ALL CGPA CUTOFF INFLUENCE OF PORS/EAA'S 4/5 NONE SPECIFIC SKILLSET REQUIRED FOR INTERVIEW(S) SELECTION PROCESS Stage 1 Interview Round 1 Stage 2 Interview Round 2 Stage 3 Interview Round 3 Precise, structured and short answers preferred; avoid stories and paragraphs SUGGESTIONS FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED PROCESS Thorough CV prep, have enough clarity on the process and output on everything that you've mentioned Apart from this, practising 15+ cases individually along with 10-15+ example/practice cases should be enough Sources: Case interviews cracked (YT video series), case in point, bury the hatchet, and similar case books along with other online sources for case practice PARTING ADVICE Self confidence while answering, structuring of thoughts, and well articulated answers with defined logic is the key GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS Practice enough cases with a buddy (maybe a batchmate or preferably a senior who has done cases before); get your CV BCG (BOSTON CONSULTING GROUP) CONSULTING verified by enough experienced people and practice CV based questions thoroughly SELECTION PROCESS Coding Round The Coding Round consisted of two questions based on knapsack dynamic programming, but the inputs were given in the form of string LIS (longest increasing subsequence) in an array of pairs. Interview Round 1 PARTING ADVICE Stage 3 Interview Round 2 Having no PORs or any prior internship experience doesn't prove disadvantageous since the entire process was based on a selection test to test coding skills only. Focussing on that would help one bag this internship. GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS Having 1-2 decent projects would suffice; term projects could also be a good replacement. Going through one's CV before the interview is a must, and be confident! SELECTION PROCESS CODING ROUND BLUME SOFTWARE ENGINEER The coding round comprised coding and general aptitude questions. In the coding round, the Aptitude Questions were pretty easy, coding questions were bit in the range of medium to high level. INTERVIEW ROUND ELIGIBLE DEPARTMENTS The interview started with a discussion of technologies that I have used. If not then try to fill up your CV with good tech projects. SUGGESTIONS FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED PROCESS Stage 2 Interview FOR THE CODING ROUNDS: To prepare for the test one needs to have a grasp of the coding part. DP, Graphs, 2 pointer and Binary search are the most commonly asked test/ interview question. One can take a famous platform like Algozenith because they have structured courses which will be a plus point. If not, then go for the YouTube courses like Stryder and just do the Leet code or interview bit ladder. FOR THE INTERVIEW ROUND For the interview you should be well prepared on your CV because grilling can be done on any part of the project so for this you should be ready to face anything. BLUME SOFTWARE ENGINEER PARTING ADVICE 1. Be calm during the coding round, try to clear the max test cases as possible, by any means possible. Brute force, Hardcoded solutions anything will work. Because every test case contains points and that can lead to a greater overall sum. 2. Make sure your aptitude part is right as that also has points and is easier to score. Generally, the company checks for the overall points. 3. CDC is a mentally exhausting process; you may feel low every time but don't worry there will be the best opportunity in the future, you just have to make sure you are giving your best effort, the rest of the circumstances will one day work out itself. 4. There are tons of opportunities outside campus also, CDC is mere to be called an option in Infront of them. All you have to do is be patient and build yourself. GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS Try to complete most parts of the CP before the CDC, have patience, and be always positive. Talk to someone daily about the CDC process going on it will help you to relieve your stress, Believe in yourself you are after all an IITian, Do contact seniors. Don't apply for the companies you are not willing to join, Don't slip aptitude, and never mention a point which you are not mentioned on your CV. In general, projects help in initiating good discussions around programming stuff you know about. SELECTION PROCESS Stage 1 Online Test Stage 2 INFLUENCE OF PORS/EAA'S 1/5 SPECIFIC SKILLSET REQUIRED FOR INTERVIEW(S) Interview Having knowledge about fundamentals of CS topics like OOPs, computer networks(CN) and operating systems(OS) will really help as they do tend to ask questions from these topics. SUGGESTIONS FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED PROCESS CISCO SOFTWARE ENGINEER Be thorough with DSA by practicing regularly on Leetcode/ Interviewbit. Since Cisco is primarily a networking company, it tends to ask questions on basics of computer networks and the internet. So keep in touch with computer science topics like OOPs, computer networks and operating systems by going through resources like learncpp, geeksforgeeks and the corresponding course slides from the CS department. PARTING ADVICE I would suggest not wasting time on collecting resources and making long plans, instead go ahead with a particular resource and utilising it completely. If there are any gaps to be filled, go ahead with any topic-specific resources. Always think loudly, let your interviewer know the approach you are thinking of, practicing mock interviews with your friends will surely help with this. Finally, be confident, have faith in yourself, and hope for the best! GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS DOs: Be confident, think loudly, focus primarily on DSA and then the other topics, never hesitate to ask for a clarification from your interviewer. DONTs: Waste time on multiple resources covering the same content, mentioning things you are unaware of in your CV SELECTION PROCESS No tests, CV shortlisting, Department bias to MA and HSS, Two rounds of interview, Mostly questions were related to projects and course of Econometrics, Some puzzles were asked CITI BANK MODEL RISK MANAGEMENT INFLUENCE OF PROJECTS/INTERNSHIPS 5/5 My whole interview revolved around the project I did in the course of Econometrics. Prepare other sections, as you might not be lucky if you are not given an option. PARTING ADVICE Be confident. Prepare yourself well. Do something you enjoy, just don't follow the herd. Try to explore different things. Stage 2 Interview 1 Stage 1 Interview 2 GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS Do prepare your CV well. Don't mention something in CV, which you're not confident of. SELECTION PROCESS CODING ROUND CONTLO SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT ELIGIBLE DEPARTMENTS OPEN TO ALL There were 3 questions on coderbyte. The questions were of medium to hard level on leetcode. To solve these, a good knowledge of graphs, strings, and basic implementation skills are required. INTERVIEW ROUND 1 The round started with some introduction and all. This round lasted for around 30 minutes. INTERVIEW ROUND 2 CGPA CUTOFF 7 SELECTION PROCESS Stage 1 CODING ROUND This round was completely based on CV. Having an internship on CV can be helpful but it is not mandatory. In my case since I don't have any internship experience, the round was completely on my projects. This round lasted for around 10-15 minutes. INFLUENCE OF PROJECTS/INTERNSHIPS 3/5 In both the interview rounds, there was a good amount of discussion on projects. Try solving good amount of DSA questions on Leetcode, InterviewBit etc. Try to explain the logic while solving the problem as clear as possible. SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS Just know about what the company is working on currently. And be clear with the company motives and all. SELECTION PROCESS CODING TEST The test had 3 questions. The first question was a straightforward implementation question, the second was a question on binary search and the third was a segment tree question. CURE.FIT SOFTWARE ENGINEER Interview Round 1 DSA round. The interviewer asked two questions, one on Binary trees and the other on DP. He asked to write the complete code. He starts from a very basic feature and builds his questions on top of the improvements that you are suggesting. He then kept on asking for ways to integrate new features into the project. INFLUENCE OF PROJECTS/INTERNSHIPS 4/5 SELECTION PROCESS Stage 1 third interview round was based on projects. Not on what had been done but on what more could be done. You should be thorough with your projects and should be familiar with everything you've done in and out. Online Coding Test INFLUENCE OF PORS/EAA'S Stage 2 0/5 Interview SPECIFIC SKILLSET REQUIRED FOR INTERVIEW(S) Stage 3 Two interviews Practice CP from CodeForces contests. It will prepare you for the time-bound coding rounds. Having a grasp of OOPS and other computer science concepts is a plus. If possible try to get a hang of development. Startups tend to be more biased toward students who have development experience. SUGGESTIONS FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED PROCESS SOFTWARE ENGINEER Competitive coding is a good practice for online tests. And for DSA interviews doing Leetcode/ Interviewbit is more helpful. They have a good library of interview-type questions, so try to touch up on all the topics from there. PARTING ADVICE Make a habit of explaining your thought process while solving. You would be required to explain the logic and approach behind every step in interviews. Prepare your CV well and mention only those things on which you are confident to discuss. It is okay to be a bit nervous. But try not to make it obvious while speaking. Drive the conversation to areas where you are most confident. GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS 1. Ask your friends to take mock interviews. 2. Take a good night's sleep, relax, trust your strengths, and don't stress about it. 3. Keep on asking for more clues or information from the interviewer, generally, they don't give the full information in one go. CP questions were asked from algorithmic design, abstract mathematics and dynamic programming. I solved 2 out of 3 of them. The MCQs were tricky, related to Machine Learning (neural nets, optimization and loss functions etc), Data Cleaning and Preparation, IOT data etc. Interview Round 1.1 The technical round focussed on the ML projects and scrutinized in the model architecture, functions, etc used in them. They checked fundamentals on Machine Learning and Neural Nets. They tried to check for research curiosity. Interview Round 1.2 The HR round was pretty basic, kind of explaining terms and conditions for the conduct of internship. INFLUENCE OF PROJECTS/INTERNSHIPS CGPA CUTOFF 7.5 5/5 Basically the projects will act as a verification of your understanding of ML when they will ask general architecture questions associated with the model. There are a lot of things to talk about ML, but projects/internships will help to focus on a specific domain. SELECTION PROCESS Stage 1 Online Test Stage 2 Interview (Tech) Stage 3 Interview (HR) INFLUENCE OF PORS/EAA'S 0/5 SPECIFIC SKILLSET REQUIRED FOR INTERVIEW(S) Research aptitude and fundamental understanding of the working of ML models (not just using the tools). They will easily catch if you faked anything, they ask a lot of questions until you convince them that you worked on the project. SUGGESTIONS FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED PROCESS DECIMAL POINT ANALYTICS DATA SCIENTIST The Andrew NG Deep Learning specialization helped me to develop a firm understanding of the fundamentals of machine learning. Any real world project on top of it, helped me to explain and confirm that understanding. The CP questions can be tackled with AlgoZenith and Striver SDE Sheet. PARTING ADVICE This is a pure Machine Learning role which is difficult to find. My work in the internship is to research and develop custom ML models to solve business problems, which is really interesting. If you find your interest in courses like Deep Learning Specialization from Andrew NG, then this type of role is what you should be looking for. GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS Try to have a good fundamental understanding of ML along with its application in some projects. Read at least a few basic research papers on ML, that will give you an idea of how things work in the field. Try to develop at least one custom architecture model from scratch. And do keep up with CP, it is required for tests as well as an essential skill to code for solving any real world problems with ML. Try to take a project under a prof or solve Hackathons, that builds a strong application. PARTING ADVICE Stage 2 Interview (Tech) Stage 3 Interview (HR) It's not that tough to get selected if you have the required skillset and you are passionate about Operations Research and Optimization. A project in this domain will give you an edge becasue you already have some experience. But it's not compulsory so give your best. GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS DOs - Study the concepts of Operation Research and understand the formulation of some standard problems like CVRP, Faciity Loaction Problem, Mixed Integer Programming etc. DON'Ts - Do not focus on remembering the solving algorithms because they can be solved using different methods so keep your major focus on understanding the concepts. SELECTION PROCESS TEST AND INTERVIEWS DEUTSCHE BANK FINANCE Had 1 Psychometric test and in general, around 4 to 5 rounds of interviews. The interviews revolve mostly around your CV and how well you know your work. Depending upon your knowledge and interest in finance, they may ask you basic and intuitive questions. FOR THE INTERVIEW ROUND I was asked in-depth about the internship I did in finance, the work I prefer to do and how has it developed my skills. The POR's and projects showcase your managerial skills and interpersonal skills PARTING ADVICE Just make sure you understand the company's values properly and gauge if it is something that aligns with you as a person. Faking it is not going to help. During the interviews, just be confident and always answer to-the-point. GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS Don't be intimidated by anyone, people taking the interviews are very polite and nice. Do not try to fake personality traits or knowledge or any work experience. PARTING ADVICE FORD ANALYST Confidence is indeed crucial when facing the interviewers. It is important to project confidence in your abilities and communicate effectively. However, it is equally important to be honest and transparent during the interview. They have a large variety of questions. One or two questions were directly asked based on those concepts in the tests. PARTING ADVICE GOOGLE SOFTWARE PROFILE You have to think aloud during your interviews. It might happen that you are unable to come up with an optimised approach, but coming up with brute force solutions or breaking down problems into smaller sub tasks are something you could definitely try in interviews. And even if you have an optimised solution in your mind, I suggest starting explanation with brute solution first, and then moving on to the optimised solutions. This shows yours instant problem solving skills. Hence, make sure to have a good CGPA! Stage 2 GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS Stage 1 Interview Some points regarding Coding Rounds : Make sure you choose the language you want to code in at the beginning itself. SPECIFIC SKILLSET REQUIRED FOR INTERVIEW(S) Data Science and Machine Learning questions were asked as that is the role mainly. Things around different algorithms, including different neural networks. There was also a discussion on classification and different such topics. DSA questions were not asked for this interview, but generally, it is asked for many companies, so keeping it prepared is always a plus. SUGGESTIONS FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED PROCESS Generally, companies, though recruiting for ML or Data profiles, take a test on DSA, though that was not the case for HDFC Bank. Having at least three good projects and internships on your CV will definitely be a plus. Be well-equipped with your DSA skills so that you can answer them if asked. If you are someone targeting Data and ML profile specifically, do some projects which keep you wellversed in the skills of ML and Data. Taking part in hackathons enables you to learn a lot. A prior intern in Data Science also helps to learn, but it is not necessary. PARTING ADVICE HDFC BANK CREDIT ANALYTICS AND INNOVATION Talking about ML and Data science, do the course of Andrew NG and a few other specialisation courses online. Do some nice projects to get a good idea and practice the concepts. You can find these projects on YouTube or talk to seniors about which selfprojects you might include. Practice DSA questions as it helps you in logic building and is often asked directly or indirectly in most interviews. Happy coding! GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS Keep a good CGPA as it really helps in getting shortlists (8.5+ shall be good, and 9+ is great); If you are not having a high CGPA, try to compensate for that on your resume by having an intern if possible or a good code forces rating or some good projects; do practice mock interviews with your friends or seniors, it really helps in getting a flow of the interviews; don't panic as it affects your confidence. The interviewer tried to overwhelm me with more and more questions and details but one should try to keep their cool and maintain good communication with the interviewer which I felt were detrimental for me to pass the last round. INFLUENCE OF PROJECTS/INTERNSHIPS 5/5 Stage 3 In my case the project did outshine out of other aspects of my CV as the interviewer focused on my understanding of the project and it’s relevance. Video Case Study INFLUENCE OF PORS/EAA'S Stage 4 Personal Interview 4/5 SPECIFIC SKILLSET REQUIRED FOR INTERVIEW(S) Being confident will definitely help as the interviewer will always try to boggle your brain and put you in difficult situations. But having a stand on your answers and being confident will definitely help. SUGGESTIONS FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED PROCESS HUL Go through basic supply chain concepts, practice case studies with friends as much as possible because case solving strategy will definitely help! And the interview will mostly revolve your CV so make it concise and give as many mock interviews as possible before your actual interview. SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT PARTING ADVICE Try to be as patient and cool as possible throughout your cdc season as things might not always turn up as good as they look sometimes. Always have a backup profile. Do not be dependent on a particular profile of company totally. Finally keep your hopes alive and keep hustling for the best and you will certainly get the best! GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS DOs 1) Case studies practice 2) Go through basic supply chain concepts 3) give mock interviews 4) Prepare a good cv walk through 5) Be confident and cool throughout the interview 6) only speak up relevantly during the video case round and don’t repeat things 7) Practice by giving mock video case study round yourself and assess DON'Ts 1) Do not make up unstructured answers in interview 2) Do not panic 3) Don’t be overwhelmed by the interviewer 4) Do not underestimate your capabilities SELECTION PROCESS Coding Round The coding round consists of around 5-7 coding questions with questions from os, cn, and basic programming. Coding questions were mostly from graphs and OOPS IBM - INDIA SYSTEMS DEVELOPMENT LAB (ISDL) INTERN Interview Round 1 The first Interview Round is DSA and projects based, the interview also required one to write code in notepad, few concepts asked were: deletion in a doubly Linked list and a circular linked list. Interview Round 2 SELECTION PROCESS Stage 1 Entirely Non-technical, mostly regarding previous studies and achievements. INFLUENCE OF PROJECTS/INTERNSHIPS Code-Test Round RATED: 2/5 Stage 2 Interview Round 1 Stage 3 Interview Round 2 INFLUENCE OF PORS/EAA'S RATED: 1/5 SPECIFIC SKILLSET REQUIRED FOR INTERVIEW(S) Being well versed with DSA and being well prepared with the projects mentioned in your resume is a good first step for interview preparation. GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS It's okay if you cannot solve a question completely; the interviewer is primarily concerned with your thinking process. Try to communicate your approaches in the best way possible. SELECTION PROCESS Test 40MCQs(Stats+Prob+ML+DL) in 40mins. SELECTION PROCESS Google Form ITC is a Day 1 company and a few days before Day 1, a Google form is circulated. The Form is evaluative and acts as the largest filter for the students, so I recommend filling it with utmost care and precision. ITC FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) CGPA CUTOFF NO FIXED CUTOFF BUT 8.5+ IS ALMOST A NECESSITY. THEY LOOK AT THE SGPA AS WELL. SELECTION PROCESS Group Discussion After the form, some 70-80 odd students are shortlisted for the GDs. The GD is extremely interesting and case-study based. About 20 students made it past the GDs to the final interviews held on Day 1. Interview There are 2 rounds of interview, one is technical and based on your CV/department while the final interview is the HR round with higher-ups from the company INFLUENCE OF PROJECTS/INTERNSHIPS 5/ 5 Stage 1 Google Form Stage 2 They help in driving the interview immensely. You can build upon your strengths and also prevent the interviewer from delving too deep into core topics. It also greatly influences what you shall be doing if you bag an offer at ITC. Do ensure that you have clearly specified your points of interests and strengths via projects Group Discussion INFLUENCE OF PORS/EAA'S 2/5 Stage 3 2 rounds of interview, HR interview SPECIFIC SKILLSET REQUIRED FOR INTERVIEW(S) Quick thinking, ability to relate core topics with real life situations, clarity on everything mentioned on the CV SUGGESTIONS FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED PROCESS ITC FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) The Google form basically collects your academic track record in addition to your motivation to join the company. I suggest writing concise and crisp answers, strongly highlighting why you want to work for ITC and how you shall be able to contribute to the same. It may come as a bummer to some but SGPA is also taken into account in addition to CGPA. Consistency is rewarded. The GD is there to test your communication skills as well as your ability to translate problems into smaller, more digestible bits. Linear thinking and simple case solving can be practiced to ensure a solid performance in the GD. The topics mentioned on your CV, especially from your core department, have to be prepared thoroughly as they might be asked in the interview. Ensure that you are thorough with at least 3 topics from your depth curriculum. The HR round is fairly straightforward and tests your quick thinking and reasoning ability. I was presented with the task of employing what I have done in my previous internship at IISc in a real life scenario in the final interview PARTING ADVICE Getting past the first filter, that is the Google form can be a bit tricky so I would say pay special attention to that. Don't try to guess answers in the technical interview and ask for hints if you get stuck. Try to drive the interview as much as possible and maintain a positive outlook. GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS Panicking is definitely not going to help, so if you get stuck, try to ask for help or for a change in topic. Remain confident and hold your ground in the GD, changing stances is usually seen as a negative. Ensure that you know all details about the projects. SELECTION PROCESS TEST ITTIAM SYSTEMS Coding test in which 7 IQ based questions were asked and 2 coding questions were asked. Both coding questions were easy to moderate. SOFTWARE ENGINEER INFLUENCE OF PROJECTS/INTERNSHIPS 4/5 You have to be very clear while explaining the project. ELIGIBLE DEPARTMENTS ALL INFLUENCE OF PORS/EAA'S 0/5 SPECIFIC SKILLSET REQUIRED FOR INTERVIEW(S) CGPA CUTOFF 7.5 Quetions have been only asked from algorithms and OOP in the coding round. SELECTION PROCESS Written Test JAGUAR LAND ROVERS ELECTRIC VEHICLE AND POWERTRAIN ELIGIBLE DEPARTMENTS EC, EE, IE, MT (FOR MT, MAINLY MATERIAL SCIENCE RELATED) In the written test, questions were different for different profiles. In the EV profile, questions were mainly from Network analysis, Signals and systems, Analog circuits, Digital Circuits, Electric machines and Power electronics. There were 2 coding questions from topics of basic PDS, in C++. Interview Round In the interview, questions about basic Network analysis and Diode circuits are generally asked, and questions are asked based on a topic of your choice; followed by a CV grilling round and concludes with a 15 min long HR based round. INFLUENCE OF PROJECTS/INTERNSHIPS RATED: 2/5 INFLUENCE OF PORS/EAA'S CGPA CUTOFF 8 AND ABOVE RATED: 1/5 SPECIFIC SKILLSET REQUIRED FOR INTERVIEW(S) Proper communication skills would help tackle the interview. SELECTION PROCESS Stage 1 Written Test Stage 2 Interview Round + HR Round SUGGESTIONS FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED PROCESS For EV, the IIT KGP EE curriculum till the 4th semester should be sufficient; revising basic concepts taught till the 4th semester would be beneficial. Since Power electronics would be covered in the 5th semester, it is suggested for 4th years; although not required for the interview round, for the written test, one can complete the "Converter circuits" course in Coursera / YouTube by Colorado Boulder University. PARTING ADVICE Revising the required syllabus and going over the CV should be sufficient! GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS Prepare the CV properly. Add relevant information as a CV grilling exists in the interview. SELECTION PROCESS The selection process can be described in 2 phases; CV Shortlisting and Preliminary Test JAGUAR LAND ROVER - JLR MECHATRONICS ELIGIBLE DEPARTMENTS ALL CGPA CUTOFF NO SUCH CUTOFF WAS MENTIONED IN THE JD SELECTION PROCESS Stage 1 CV Shortlisting and Test Stage 2 Interview The CV shortlisting is done using the CV that you submit as well as your test scores. The test has 3 sections, logical reasoning, mechanical based and a coding round. Logical reasoning has questions related to logic and reasoning similar to the aptitude questions in CAT or the MAT section from NTSE. Mechanical section judges your knowledge on the mechanical concepts. The coding round has 2 questions one being more difficult, for both you need to figure out the logic and then using the basic syntax, code the answer (Java, C++). Refer to the answers of the other questions to see what to prepare and what questions come in them. Interview Round There is only one round of interviews where they will ask you questions firstly from the mechanical concepts, then they'll move towards your CV asking you questions related to your projects,PORs and internships and finally some HR questions. The order need not be this and they can ask whichever questions they like. INFLUENCE OF PROJECTS/INTERNSHIPS 5/5 For the Mechatronics Role in particular the projects and Internships in the field played an important part- 1. Projects: Having previous project experience in the mechanical engineering sector played an important role since that validates the experience one has and the skillset they possess. Questions are asked related to these which test your understanding of the projects and in turn can help you sell yourself to the company and prove your understanding as well as your interests. 2. Internship: With internships again, they help in solidifying your knowledge and experience and are quite helpful. Having experience in a work environment shows that you are aware of the methods and practices required in the internship they are offering and you will be more likely to be selected. INFLUENCE OF PORS/EAA'S 5/5 PORs in the mechanical field such as being part of a Research group or any similar example not only show that you are knowledgeable in the mechanical field but also help a lot during the HR questions they ask. For example, I was the Team Leader of JAGUAR LAND ROVER - JLR MECHATRONICS the Formula Student team, TeamKART and most of the HR instance based questions I could cite examples or real world experience from my tenure. Having a POR in this field additionally creates a talking point during the interview where you can answer questions they have which enables you to show you knowledge and experience. Having a POR in other managerial positions do help albeit only for the HR questions. SPECIFIC SKILLSET REQUIRED FOR INTERVIEW(S) Sound knowledge of the mechanical concepts taught during the course, focus of the student on understanding the concepts rather than just memorising the formulae, good knowledge on all the projects, PORs and Internships, soft skills, HR question skillset SUGGESTIONS FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED PROCESS Interview: For the mech stuff one should focus just on the mechanical concepts taught during the course work. Focus on topics such as Thermo, Mechanics of Solids, Elasticity, Fluids with emphasis on the core concepts. Be very thorough with your CV and the points you mention which should be concise and to the point with no fluff added. Basic HR questions should be practiced. Shortlisting Test: For the test practice Logical reasoning for that section, practice high level GATE questions for the 2nd section and revise on the basic syntax of coding to be able to solve the last section. CV: Prepare a well thought out CV and have it verified by some seniors before the deadline. Start preparing the CV well before the deadline. I'm open to reviewing CVs in case you don't know whom you should send it to, as long as its well before the deadline. PARTING ADVICE Just relax and don't take a lot of tension, especially before the interview. Have a positive mindset during the preparation as well as the interviews. GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS DOs; Do prepare well and be confident, work on your soft skills DON'Ts; Don't talk about stuff you don't know very well about as that may backfire, don't panic during the exam or the interview,CDC is not the end of the world, don't take additional load thinking about what will happen if you don't get through, don't mention that you want to go for higher studies as that puts them of.. SELECTION PROCESS Online Assessment Round The OA comprised two sections, each with a specified allotted time, conducted on JLR's platform called Coderace. JAGUAR LAND ROVERS - GRADUATE SOFTWARE INTERN The first section comprised straightforward Mental Ability and Logical Reasoning Questions. The marking scheme of the MCQs was dynamic. With each correct answer, your next question's difficulty level and marks would increase. Each incorrect answer would decrease your next question's difficulty level and marks. CGPA CUTOFF The second section comprised 3 DSA questions of easy-medium. The first question (https://leetcode.com/problems/nimgame/description/ )was a simple application of if-else, and the second (https://leetcode.com/problems/next-greater-elementiii/description/) could be solved directly using STL, and the third (https://leetcode.com/problems/stone-game-vii/description/) was an LR DP question. All three questions were standard Leetcode problems. 6.5 (NO CUTOFF) ELIGIBLE DEPARTMENTS OPEN TO ALL Online Interview SELECTION PROCESS Stage 1 Online Assessment Stage 2 Interview Round There was only one round of interview, including technical and HR sections, with a three-panel member judges. After a brief introduction, CV-related projects were asked Furthermore, questions on the basics of OOPS, like constructors, inheritance, and the difference between multilevel and multiple inheritances, were asked. Questions touched on various topics like the Master Theorem to solve recurrence relations, the time Complexity of Binary and Ternary Search and to compare them. The interview ended with a few HR questions. INFLUENCE OF PROJECTS/INTERNSHIPS RATED: 3/5 It is always good to have some projects or internships in your CV, so you can have a conversation around those with the interviewer. Algorithm based questions were touched upon in the interview related to the projects. INFLUENCE OF PORS/EAA'S RATED: 0/5 The interviewers were least interested in PORs or EAAs. SPECIFIC SKILLSET REQUIRED FOR INTERVIEW(S) JAGUAR LAND ROVERS - GRADUATE SOFTWARE INTERN Build strong foundations of Data Structures and Algorithms. Have good Problem-Solving Skills. The interviewers are more interested in your approach towards the problem than the correct answer. Be confident throughout and have good communication skills. SUGGESTIONS FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED PROCESS Can have a look at the Binary Search vs Ternary Search Section of this article: https://www.geeksforgeeks.org/ternary-search/ Practice a lot. Try to solve as many problems as possible. Give contests on Codechef/Codeforces/AtCoder. During the last few months, try to complete Interviewbit and solve problems from Leetcode/GFG. Give weekly/bi-weekly Leetcode contests, and take as many mock contests as possible. Bookmark the questions where you struggled/learned a new concept so you can revisit them later. Study OOPS from GFG or any other relevant online website before interviews. PARTING ADVICE Practice a lot. There's no shortcut to that at all. Solve as many problems from as many topics as possible. It won't just help you in grabbing an internship offer but also builds aptitude and intuitive thinking. Prepare your CV very well, and write only things you can defend. Be honest, and don't lie. Stay confident, and don't get stressed out. Don't be quiet throughout your interview; keep talking to the interviewer(s). Keep interacting with them. Think out loud during the interview. Always remember, it's not the correct answer that matters; it's the approach that matters. Keep your morale high during the internship season. CDC seasons are hectic and stressful, and rejections are a part of the process. Don't get disheartened by initial failures, there's something better for you in the store. SELECTION PROCESS CV Shortlisting Not a big deal, many students got selected for test, i think they removed only few low cgpa students (may be below 7) JM FINANCIAL PRODUCT MANAGEMENT Test CGPA CUTOFF Interview Round 1 NONE ELIGIBLE DEPARTMENTS OPEN TO ALL Assessment test( 15 minutes aptitude test) - moderate level questions, time crunch, try to utilise time wisely. Interview shortlist was very short so main part was to clear the test. Based on test score and CV they have shortlisted for interview. (30-40 minutes duration) initially some cv based discussion, previous experience related and why product management? Also some product terminologies such as what is MVP? And then 2 guestimmates based on my cv. 1st Calculate the total number of users of BNPL services in india. 2nd total number of lights in your hostel. Then again some product management related generic questions. Interview Round 2 SELECTION PROCESS (30-35 minutes duration) it was purely generic 2 way discussion based on my experience and why I want to go in this field, what I have done till now. No technical, no other questions, they just wanted to know me deeply, what I like what I do generally and all. Stage 1 INFLUENCE OF PROJECTS/INTERNSHIPS CV Shortlisting 4/5 Stage 2 Test Internship or relevant project played major role in interview shortlist, they have shortlisted based on test score and cv. Also during the interview 40- 50% discussion was based on my previous internship and relevant projects. In product management role they always look for a little bit of experience. INFLUENCE OF PORS/EAA'S Stage 3 Interview Round 1 4/5 Stage 4 In 2nd round of interview the discussion was mainly on PORs and my learning from them and past activities, EAA as well, so it would be very great if you have something on which you can have a healthy discussion and they can know you better. Interview Round 2 SPECIFIC SKILLSET REQUIRED FOR INTERVIEW(S) Nothing specific skills, just a little bit of communication skills, which is necessary in product management role, apart from this problem solving & situation handling skill. SUGGESTIONS FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED PROCESS Don't need to mug up things, Just be yourself and beleive on your skills, practice a little bit for aptitude test, it's a tricky one. For interview practice some guestimmates and 1-2 product cases. And have a basic idea of general terminologies of product management (IIMA) book is good. PARTING ADVICE Nothing specific, just be true with you and interviewer during the interview and decide why you want to go in product management role? GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS Don't waste time during test, in interview do not feel or behave low confident, discuss things calmly, don't get stressed, discuss things and relate them with your life journey and your goal, be true with the interviewer. SELECTION PROCESS TEST The written test included Aptitude, Probability & Statistics, English, Finance and Coding. HR Round HR round which focussed on your interest and alignment with the company and the profile. CV grilling was a part of each round. INFLUENCE OF PROJECTS/INTERNSHIPS 5/5 Given that I do not have any academic background in Finance, I belive my internships played a major role in getting my CV shortlisted. Stage 2 INFLUENCE OF PORS/EAA'S Technical Interview 3/5 Stage 3 Technical Interview Stage 4 HR Round SPECIFIC SKILLSET REQUIRED FOR INTERVIEW(S) Be thorough with all the aforementioned topics for test and interviews. SUGGESTIONS FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED PROCESS J.P.MORGAN GLOBAL MARKETS (CIB RESEARCH AND ANALYTICS) 1. Heard on the Street for Aptitude and Probability & Statistics (Chapters 1 and 4 should be top priority) 2. 50 Challenging Problems in Probability 3. Zerodha Varsity can be a good source for beginning with the fundamentals of finance 4. InterviewBit/Code Chef or similar platforms for coding practice 5. Be thorough with whatever you write in your CV (what was the work, what were the results, what methods/models did you use, how did it help the company, what did you learn) 6. For the HR round, prepare answers for questions beforehand (why this company, why this profile, where do you see yourself in 5 years, strengths and weaknesses, etc.) PARTING ADVICE CDC internships process can be very stressful but it helps to talk to people, preferably someone who is not undergoing the process. Good luck:) GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS Give atleast 2-3 mock interviews (this helped me big time) and get your CV reviewed by multiple people. SELECTION PROCESS TEST In the test round, there were questions on basic aptitude, JEE Mathematics and there were coding questions as well. J.P.MORGAN MRGR( MODEL RISK GOVERNANCE AND REVIEW GROUP) ELIGIBLE DEPARTMENTS OPEN FOR ALL CGPA CUTOFF N/A Interview Round For the interviews, they grilled on the projects in the CV. Also, they asked questions on Puzzles, and Prob Stats. The first 2 interview rounds were based on that and each lasted for around 45 mins. SELECTION PROCESS Stage 1 INFLUENCE OF PORS/EAA'S TEST 3/5 Stage 2 Technical Interview Stage 3 Technical Interview Stage 4 HR Round I don't know how much did they help in getting the CV shortlisted, but these things definitely give you the confidence required for interaction with the interviewer. Though I was not asked anything regarding these but it gives an idea of your soft skills. It was more of a selection round rather than an elimination round. Interview Round 1 DSA Question and question based on project Interview Round 2 Discussion based on projects HR Interview ELIGIBLE DEPARTMENTS ALL 5 minute round, just some information from their end. INFLUENCE OF PROJECTS/INTERNSHIPS 5/5 If you do not have projects, be prepared for an extensive CP round because that is what happened with most people. INFLUENCE OF PORS/EAA'S CGPA CUTOFF 7 2/5 SPECIFIC SKILLSET REQUIRED FOR INTERVIEW(S) SELECTION PROCESS Stage 1 Test Stage 2 Interview Round 1 Stage 3 Interview Round 2 Stage 4 HR Interview Expertise in any one tech-based skill, be it CP/DSA, AI/ML, Quant etc., along with atleast an intermediate level preparation of CP and DSA. SUGGESTIONS FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED PROCESS Throughout your preparation, try to master one skill which will be your main profile. You could either be very skilled at CP/DSA, or AI/ML and they would be interested. Just make sure to whole heartedly devote your preparation to this one main profile. That being said, a good, fundamental knowledge of CP will help you clear most tests, so if you're going to sit for the software and/or data profiles, I would highly recommend that you do CP. Besides, knowledge of mathematics topics like Prob Stats, Linear Algebra etc., will be expected for other tests and interviews. PARTING ADVICE Stay calm and maintain your composure GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS Listen to the interviewer carefully and take time to comprehend and give proper answers SELECTION PROCESS TEST The written test included questions based on Logical Reasoning, English and Core Engineering GD Round JSW (JINDAL STEELS) CORE ELIGIBLE DEPARTMENTS CH/CE/CSE/EE/ECE/IE/ME/MT/ MI (ALL ONLY 4 YEAR BTECH) The test was followed by a Group Discussion round Personal Interview The GD round was followed by a personal interview INFLUENCE OF PROJECTS/INTERNSHIPS 3.5/ 5 They asked about previous internships or projects in the interview which was a major segment in the interview round. It helps in letting the interviewer know regarding your particular areas of interest and can help you in demonstrating the strengths in the respective fields. INFLUENCE OF PORS/EAA'S 2.5 / 5 CGPA CUTOFF 7 It might have only a little effect for purely core-based roles. You need to explain your learnings and how the PoRs have helped you to grow as a person. SPECIFIC SKILLSET REQUIRED FOR INTERVIEW(S) SELECTION PROCESS Stage 1 The Interview was mainly HR based. Prepare accordingly and research about the company and work thoroughly. Be thorough of the projects in your CV, prepare for some basic questions regarding your core area Written test SUGGESTIONS FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED PROCESS Have a basic understanding of your core field and some general industries related knowledge. Stage 2 GD Round Stage 3 HR interview PARTING ADVICE Be confident and take the interviewer through a process. Let it be a conversation rather than a question-answer session GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS Have some background knowledge about the company. Ask questions at the end of your interview. Prepare and review your CV meticuluously and get it reviewed by seniors. SELECTION PROCESS TEST The selection involved an MCQ test with 40 questions with logical reasoning, ML and basic coding + 10 questions related to ocean engineering. KONSBERG DIGITAL Interview Round 1 This was followed by an interview based almost entirely on core domain knowledge. I was asked about what I had worked on in my department and follow ups based on my answer. Interview Round 2 CGPA CUTOFF 7 Finally there was an HR interview INFLUENCE OF PROJECTS/INTERNSHIPS 2/5 SELECTION PROCESS Stage 1 MCQ test Stage 2 Interview Round 1 INFLUENCE OF PORS/EAA'S 0/5 SPECIFIC SKILLSET REQUIRED FOR INTERVIEW(S) Have a decent idea about the current scenario of your domain. A lot of the questions were about the problems currently relevant in ocean engineering and ways to fix them SUGGESTIONS FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED PROCESS Stage 3 HR interview Current domain knowledge+ good grasp of ML should be enough PARTING ADVICE If you do well on the test, the interview shouldn't be a problem. The interviewer was fairly conversational and willing to help GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS Don't try to bluff about your projects SELECTION PROCESS SHORTLISTING KOTAK MAHINDRA BANK PRODUCT MANAGEMENT ELIGIBLE DEPARTMENTS Shortlisting was based on CV. Predominantly, they look for relevant past experience, preferably past internships in Product Management. INTERVIEW Only one interview was taken. A mix of HR and technical questions were asked. Technical questions were asked about past internships themselves. INFLUENCE OF PROJECTS/INTERNSHIPS ALL DEPARTMENTS 5/5 The interview revolved around past internship experience. CGPA CUTOFF NO CUT-OFF SELECTION PROCESS Stage 1 Shortlisting INFLUENCE OF PORS/EAA'S 0/5 SPECIFIC SKILLSET REQUIRED FOR INTERVIEW(S) They see whether the student has independently worked in their past projects and whether they were able to solve problems/ ideate features, experiments in a structured manner. Stage 2 Interview SUGGESTIONS FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED PROCESS Relevant past work experience helps a lot. Students should thoroughly practice guesstimates and mock cases with friends, seniors and alums to ace interviews (for both off campus and on campus hiring). Mock interviews on YouTube channels such as Exponents and PM School are good resources to begin with. Watching these mock interviews would help students develop the problem solving approach required for the interviews. PARTING ADVICE KOTAK MAHINDRA BANK PRODUCT MANAGEMENT CDC internship process is somewhat luck dependent. It's pretty easy to grab an internship opportunity off-campus, many folks in KGP don't know the right approach to get on so don't stress about rejections. SELECTION PROCESS L.E.K CONSULTING ELIGIBLE DEPARTMENTS ALL DEPARTMENTS CGPA CUTOFF NOT MENTIONED. 8.5 SHOULD BE SAFE SELECTION PROCESS Stage 1 CV Shortlisting Stage 2 Interviews The broad structure for LEK selections is the same as any other consulting firm - CV shortlisting, buddy rounds, case interviews, personal interview and HR round - the specifics of each round may vary from person to person. The unique aspects of consulting selections are the buddy round and the case interviews. The "technical" questions asked in consulting selections are related to solving cases. These cases are generally of 3 types - guesstimates, profitability and market entry. In the buddy round, you get paired with an LEK associate who mentors you through your case prep. In the case interviews, they don't expect you to reach the final answer right away, but to talk the interviewer through your process - as what they're looking for is your logical ability. INFLUENCE OF PROJECTS/INTERNSHIPS 4/5 They matter in two ways. First, your CV shortlisting is done on the basis of "spikes" and good internships/projects at reputed places does count as a spike. Secondly, in personal interviews they ask about what you did in these internships and how you learned from them. As LEK does not expect prior experience in consulting, it expects you to be able to defend what work you have done and show how you learnt from it. INFLUENCE OF PORS/EAA'S 4/5 Similar to the previous question, it firstly matters in CV shortlisting as a PoR also counts as a spike. Besides this, a PoR is generally a good indicator of being able to manage people, handle pressure and taking initiative. These are desirable traits especially in fields like consulting. SPECIFIC SKILLSET REQUIRED FOR INTERVIEW(S) L.E.K CONSULTING It's important that you're clear and well-spoken, apart from that you should be able to think logically and analytically about cases but that's something that comes with practice. SUGGESTIONS FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED PROCESS There are two kinds of interviews you need to prepare for - case and personal interviews. Preparing for cases is similar to preparing for any technical role you go through casebooks and solve cases and you watch videos of mock case interviews. The unique thing about solving cases is that it’s important to solve cases with a partner - in this way, one of you can take the role of the interviewer and the other of the interviewee and you can get a better learning experience. You can refer to ISB, IITM, or IIMA for their casebooks. Each casebook has a slightly different framework, so make sure you stick to what works best for you and become really well versed in that framework. Apart from that, you can refer to the YouTube channel Case Interviews Cracked to see how case interviews generally go. Another important aspect of case interviews is that the interviewer is testing your ability to think logically - so it’s okay if you don’t get to the final answer right away! You should be very communicative with your interviewer at every step through your case-solving process so that they know how you’re thinking. For personal interviews, you should be able to explain your past work and your interest in joining the firm/field very well. Consultants are expected to be good at communication, so make sure you’re able to express yourself clearly and concisely when answering these questions. You can refer to the book “How to Answer the 64 Toughest Interview Questions” (don’t be intimidated by the name) for some standard HR questions. SPECIFIC SKILLSET REQUIRED FOR INTERVIEW(S) PARTING ADVICE L.E.K CONSULTING My main piece of advice would be to keep reaching out to seniors for professional as well as personal advice during the intern season. CDC is a difficult and confusing process and you don’t want to lose out on any opportunity due to lack of information. Your seniors have probably gone through exactly what you’re going through right now and have more perspective given they’re now on the other side. Remember that it’s always better to ask a silly doubt and clear it, than to keep having silly misconceptions. Apart from this, stay connected with your friends and close ones. CDC is a trying time for everyone and impossible to go through alone. Just remember that there will always be people who are there for you, and things always work out in the end. GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS It’s worth it to put in extra time to format your CV well - 1 page long, minimum whitespace, no grammatical or spelling errors. Make sure you get the help of seniors to review and improve your CV and the help of your batchmates to proofread it. SELECTION PROCESS Test LIMECHAT SDE ELIGIBLE DEPARTMENTS ALL DEPARTMENTS The test had basic to intermediate level DSA questions, and also questions on backend and full stack development. I'm not fully sure but I think for some tests you could choose your preferred language (backend, DSA, etc.) and it had a Javascript/Node.js only test. Technical Interview The first interview round was the technical interview. Initially, there was some CV grilling about my past experiences and internships, and questions such as what was the most challenging or interesting problems I had solved. Then, I was asked some questions on Python, which were of intermediate-to-advanced level, on topics such as asynchronous programming, generators, decorators, threading, etc. I was asked to code a REST API server live for a demo app following ALL proper conventions and had to explain why I chose to design something in that way. I did not have to fully write out the code, only the core parts. Finally, I was asked about how I would debug a bug, such as how I would pinpoint it, and how to patch it up. HR Round CGPA CUTOFF NO CUT-OFF The HR round was a relatively easier interview and had basic HR questions (why do you want to work in a startup, etc.). INFLUENCE OF PROJECTS/INTERNSHIPS SELECTION PROCESS Stage 1 5/5 The technical interview started off with CV grilling, and was asked questions related to my projects and previous internships. The skills I had developed (writing proper code following conventions, and knowing the advanced features of Python and JS) also came into play in the interview. Test INFLUENCE OF PORS/EAA'S 0/5 Stage 2 SPECIFIC SKILLSET REQUIRED FOR INTERVIEW(S) Technical Interview Development experience, Intermediate level DSA, advanced knowledge about either Python or JS Stage 3 HR Interview SUGGESTIONS FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED PROCESS Practice as many intermediate/hard level questions as you can on sites like LeetCode or similar to build up your DSA skills. At the same time, pick a language (Python and/or JS are highly recommended for Limechat) and study about their advanced features. Finally, read up the conventions for creating applications, such as the language code style, REST API conventions, HTTP stack, etc. PARTING ADVICE Try to find the tech stack used at a company before giving the test or interview. Limechat uses Python and JavaScript, and the test and interview was highly focused on one and at times, both of them. GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS SDE DOs: Get an experience in development by making projects, and follow proper conventions and code styles. DON'Ts: Do NOT write bad/unreadable code in the interview since they are looking for someone who can will write code that is both maintainable and scalable. SELECTION PROCESS The initial shortlisting was based on recommendation from department. Total 3 no of students were shortlisted for interview and finally one was offered the position. LM WIND POWER, GE VERNOVA - PROJECT INTERN INFLUENCE OF PROJECTS/INTERNSHIPS 4/5 The profile was mainly related to FE Analysis of composites. I had done my term projects in the same area. ELIGIBLE DEPARTMENTS ME, IM INFLUENCE OF PORS/EAA'S 1/5 SPECIFIC SKILLSET REQUIRED FOR INTERVIEW(S) Knowledge of composite materials SUGGESTIONS FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED PROCESS Basics of Mechanical Engineering and clear understanding of concepts related to composite materials will be enough. Most of all, confidence is the key factor. One should be confident with his answers and approach. PARTING ADVICE Stay calm. Be confident. GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS Never try to fake anything. Be real. Be yourself. SELECTION PROCESS MACHANI GROUP MARKETING CV shortlisting followed by 2 rounds of personal interviews and one MD/CEO interview. Most of the interview focused on CV and then some standard HR questions. They also ask you what you know about Machani Group's different businesses INFLUENCE OF PROJECTS/INTERNSHIPS ELIGIBLE DEPARTMENTS ALL DEPARTMENTS 4/5 Asked questions in both rounds before MD/CEO related to projects and role in them. In-depth questioning, especially if project related to marketing and the role was marketing oriented CGPA CUTOFF INFLUENCE OF PORS/EAA'S NO CUT-OFF SELECTION PROCESS Stage 1 Shortlisting Stage 2 Interview 4/5 Inquired about the items written in the CV. Tried to get a perspective on decisions taken in that position. SUGGESTIONS FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED PROCESS Machani Group came for 3 profiles. Make sure you have some project/intern related to the profile you are applying for. Be thorough with whatever you have written on your CV. Some people had really intense CV grilling. No specific preparation needed for interviews apart from general CDC preparation. For interviews, go through their website. They are a family-run conglomerate and therefore have many different arms. The interviewers were quite impressed when you knew about the firm and inquired about it. PARTING ADVICE Be calm during interviews. It might get slightly hectic. Also if you reach MD/CEO round, you are most probably selected. GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS DOs: Inquire about their businesses that you find interesting. DON'Ts: Lose calm and go without having gone through a CV grilling session. MACHANI GROUP MARKETING SELECTION PROCESS CV Shortlisting Interview MARITIME RESEARCH CENTRE Questions asked were mostly from ML concepts. A couple of basic cp problems was asked. You don't have to answer all the questions to get selected. ML questions were of medium difficulty. Go through the company's website before the interview once. RESEARCH INTERN INFLUENCE OF PROJECTS/INTERNSHIPS ELIGIBLE DEPARTMENTS ALL DEPARTMENTS 4/5 Discussion about projects are a good starter for the interview. It also implies that you have done something practical. INFLUENCE OF PORS/EAA'S 0/5 SPECIFIC SKILLSET REQUIRED FOR INTERVIEW(S) Sound ML knowledge would suffice CGPA CUTOFF NO CUT-OFF SUGGESTIONS FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED PROCESS The ML course by Andrew NG on coursera is good enough. Make notes for easy revision. Skim through the projects on company website once. Some basic ProbStats knowledge would be helpful. SELECTION PROCESS Stage 1 CV Shortlisting Stage 2 Interview PARTING ADVICE Answer the questions confidently. You don't have to answer every question to get selected. Just be yourself and give your best. GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS Do's Do Everyday practice coding. Do Interviewbit and 100 most like questions of Leetcode. This will help improve the intution and implementation. Do timed practice of coding problems and give frequent contests on CF, AtCoder or Leetcode Manage time to practice probs and stats questions from resources along with coding practice Brush up your ML, DL skills. Like Exploratory Data Analysis, Regression Analysis, etc. Give mock interviews with seniors batchmates who are preparing for similar profiles Don'ts Don't get stressed if you don't get a shortlist on day-1, day-2 or in your dream company, CDC process happens to be pretty random for non circuital people. Don't get stuck with a question for so long that you put in so much time for that, if you don't get the thought process move forward with understanding the solution Don't get involved in multiple platforms, practice on one/two and be consistent in it/them. SELECTION PROCESS Coding Test Group Discussion MATHWORKS ENGINEERING DEVELOPMENT (SOFTWARE) HR Round INFLUENCE OF PROJECTS/INTERNSHIPS 3/5 ELIGIBLE DEPARTMENTS You may get project related to the one which you mentioned on the CV CS, EC, EE, AE INFLUENCE OF PORS/EAA'S 1/5 CGPA CUTOFF NO CUTOFF SPECIFIC SKILLSET REQUIRED FOR INTERVIEW(S) DSA, good communication skills, GD skills and good HR preparation SELECTION PROCESS Stage 1 Coding Test SUGGESTIONS FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED PROCESS Focus much on problem solving skills and DSA PARTING ADVICE Stage 2 Group Discussion Be confident. It's ok to ask hints from the interviewer SELECTION PROCESS ONLINE TEST Microsoft ML which had two questions (python, k means clustering, PCA) MICROSOFT - DATA SCIENCE/MACHINE LEARNING Interview rounds (2) In-depth knowledge of common ml algorithms required INFLUENCE OF PROJECTS/INTERNSHIPS 5/5 ELIGIBLE DEPARTMENTS Microsoft usually has a relatively easy test and uses the resume to shortlist candidates for the interviews. INFLUENCE OF PORS/EAA'S ALL 0/5 SPECIFIC SKILLSET REQUIRED FOR INTERVIEW(S) CGPA CUTOFF NONE Thorough knowledge of ML SUGGESTIONS FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED PROCESS Statquest, Andrew Ng PARTING ADVICE SELECTION PROCESS Stage 1 Resume Shortlist Stage 2 Online Test Stage 3 Two rounds of Interview Have a good preparation, be confident during the interviews and CDC isn't the end of the world. GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS Do complete your CV atleast 3 days before the deadline. Don't update the profile picture in the end- it will mess up your formatting. Do practice some DSA even if you're applying for ML roles - you will need it for the tests SELECTION PROCESS CV Shortlisting First round was CV shortlisting (criteria not clear). MICROSOFT SOFTWARE ENGINEER Coding Test TThere was a coding test consisting of 2 easy DSA problems but time taken to submit the test might be a distinguishing factor. Interview Rounds ELIGIBLE DEPARTMENTS ALL DEPARTMENTS Number of interview rounds varied. For me it was only one, in which they asked me to explain my project and asked two DSA questions. First one was on string parsing and I was asked which one of stack or recursion will I be using to solve it and why. Second one was on minimising some quantity on arrays. I was asked to design test cases for both the problems and test my solutions on them. Finally the interviewer asked if I had any question for him. CGPA CUTOFF 7 INFLUENCE OF PROJECTS/INTERNSHIPS 3/5 SELECTION PROCESS In the interview they asked to explain the project, asked details on some of the points and finally said they are having some similar project in Microsoft. I did not have any internship before that. Stage 1 CV Shortlisting Stage 2 Coding Test Stage 3 Interview Rounds INFLUENCE OF PORS/EAA'S 0/5 SPECIFIC SKILLSET REQUIRED FOR INTERVIEW(S) Communication and confidence SUGGESTIONS FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED PROCESS DSA MICROSOFT SOFTWARE ENGINEER Practise DSA while trying to improve on your speed and accuracy. CP is not compulsory at all but can help in improving problem solving skills. GoC CDC series helped me a lot so I will recommend attempting them and solving all the problems. PARTING ADVICE Have enough DSA practice so that you are confident that you can solve wide range of problems. During interview, it is better to communicate whatever you are thinking rather than being silent for long. Try to have at least one project on your resume. GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS Prepare your resume properly so that all relevant skills are highlighted. Do not add anything to resume if you cannot have proper discussion on that topic with interviewer. Avoid submitting wrong solutions during interview. It is fine if your solution is not optimised initially but you can carry on a discussion with interviewer and optimise it. SELECTION PROCESS TEST MORGAN STANLEY STATS & QUANT ELIGIBLE DEPARTMENTS OPEN FOR ALL CGPA CUTOFF N/A, HIGH CG RECOMMENDED One test with four sections - aptitude ( puzzles, probability questions, trigonometry basics, logical reasoning ), English( comprehension, speaking and listening, grammar testing) , Finance ( very basic level questions) and coding ( two questions - one medium to tough and one easy). Doing good in three out of four is great. Interview Round 1 CV grilling, cp questions (medium) , basic probability and puzzles questions. Interview Round 2 Pressure test types, rapidly asked 8-9 questions on probability, distributions etc. HR Round Just basic situational and personality based questions INFLUENCE OF PROJECTS/INTERNSHIPS SELECTION PROCESS Stage 1 TEST 3/5 During CV based questions, it's important to have a good project or intern to be able to talk about. Also because that gives interviewer the ability to ask u good questions. INFLUENCE OF PORS/EAA'S Stage 2 1/5 Technical Interview SPECIFIC SKILLSET REQUIRED FOR INTERVIEW(S) Stage 3 Technical Interview Stage 4 HR Round Puzzle solving should be prioritised, along with proper understanding and practice of probability and distributions. CP skills are also a must, at least upto medium level. Finance knowledge is not necessary, so don't worry if you haven't prepared for finance profile. There were no Finance questions asked in the intervies at all. SUGGESTIONS FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED PROCESS MORGAN STANLEY STATS & QUANT Try and do interview and leetcode medium questions. Tough questions are mostly not asked in CP. Do all Puzzles from GeeksforGeeks and Heard on the Street. Also try and do as many puzzles from brainsteller as possible. Make sure to solve all questions from the book 50 challenging problems in probability along with practice of probability questions. Stats 110 from Harvard University is great for understanding all probability and distributions concepts. PARTING ADVICE Google about the profile and company you are interviewing forhelps ask more informed questions and thus leaves a good impression on the interviewer. GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS Stay confident, ask your friends and seniors for help without hesitation, have a strong support system and know that this is not something you need to stress about as much, it's a part and phase of life and should not be treated as anything more than that. All the very best! :)) SELECTION PROCESS TEST MORGAN STANLEY SALES & TRADING There was one test in which questions of finance, probability and statistics, puzzles and mental ability and 2 questions of competitive programming was asked(Test for Sales and Trading and Strats and Quant profile were same so competitive questions may be to evaluate people for the profile Strats and Quant). Personal Interiview HR Round ELIGIBLE DEPARTMENTS OPEN FOR ALL CGPA CUTOFF INFLUENCE OF PROJECTS/INTERNSHIPS 5/5 Most of the talks went on Projects and internships if they are in any way related to finance as they created a common point to talk in interviews and became a medium of ease for them also to judge and evaluate your knowledge. N/A INFLUENCE OF PORS/EAA'S 3/5 SELECTION PROCESS Stage 1 POR's such as Quant Club, Bclub, Finance Club etc. created a common talking point in which they can understand what particular type of knowledge in finance you have and if you have a good POR such as of head then they prove your leadership and team management skills. TEST SPECIFIC SKILLSET REQUIRED FOR INTERVIEW(S) Stage 2 Personal Interview Stage 3 HR Round Firstly, be a good listener and never interrupt when they are speaking. Secondly be crisp and at the same time be insightful with whatever answer you give, don't beat around the bushes and waste time. Thirdly, greet people with a smile as it is a finance interview and not a SDE interview in which you have to just answer the DSA questions and you are recruited, you have to present yourself as a smart and bright student. Finally, go thoroughly with your CV(specially the projects) as you will be asked thoroughly from your CV. SUGGESTIONS FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED PROCESS MORGAN STANLEY SALES & TRADING Practice puzzles, case study, probability and statistics and all the finance content that you write in your CV as these will be the things that are definitely going to be asked in your interview. I faced 3 round of interviews in which Round 1 was CV grilling session + probs and stats + puzzles + case study. Round 2 was mostly based on the finance courses that were in my CV, the questions were mostly logical and if you have the course knowledge, you can think of the answer on the spot. Finally round 3 was HR round in which you will be judged on your management skills as in try to show skills like teamwork, smart work, hard work, creativeness, willing to give and always putting client first and addressing their need is the topmost priority. GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS Please be diplomatic with the HR answers. Never ever your answer should be reflecting negative traits. SELECTION PROCESS CODING ROUND Questions were of medium difficulty. One was using STL, other on Tree DP standard question. NK SECURITIES INTERVIEW ROUND QUANT 2 Interview rounds. For puzzles solve Brainstellar questions (medium level). Try to revise concepts of Probability (like expected value, no need to know probability distributions). Revise OOPs concepts and for dual degree students OS too. Interview Stage 3 HR Round PARTING ADVICE Stay confident during the interviews and believe in all the preparation you have done. PARTING ADVICE Stage 2 Interview Just be confident in what you have learned and present it infront of the interviewers. It's fine if you don't know something during the interview. They don't want to test your knowledge but want to check your problem solving skills. And all the above mentioned skills are just some tools to test it. GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS Avoid silly mistakes in tests. Be prepared with your projects. SELECTION PROCESS TEST Coding Round OPPO MACHINE LEARNING Coding round question was very hard but I got lucky as my brute force solution gave 8/10 testcases Interview Round In interview they just asked ML/DL basics and wanted to see if I knew the underlying math for most deep learning tasks ELIGIBLE DEPARTMENTS CIRCUITAL INFLUENCE OF PROJECTS/INTERNSHIPS 5/5 I had one very basic DL project which was on image classification and in the interview of all my shortlist they focussed on that one project if I understood it properly INFLUENCE OF PORS/EAA'S CGPA CUTOFF 8.0 2/5 SPECIFIC SKILLSET REQUIRED FOR INTERVIEW(S) Good communication skills and clarity of presentation is good enough SELECTION PROCESS Stage 1 Coding Round Stage 2 Technical Round SUGGESTIONS FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED PROCESS Get to know about the company, be thorough with ur CV doing mock interviews with friends, and be very cool if ur feeling pressured don't be shy to ask for a gap(like make up a reason like I wanna drink water or something). Stay calm and give it your best GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS Keep speaking with the interviewer while solving questions and let him know whatever you are thinking. Try not to stutter or be silent for long. Do have some information about your company's work beforehand for the interview. SELECTION PROCESS CODING ROUND PIRAMAL FINANCE There is an initial CV-based shortlist post in which you are required to give an online test. The online test consisted of an English/Grammar Section, Logical Reasoning & Quantitative Aptitude Questions Section, and a Python Coding Section(Output questions, syntax correction and OOPs). INTERVIEW ROUND ELIGIBLE DEPARTMENTS ALL DEPARTMENTS CGPA CUTOFF For the CV round, I had to briefly explain my projects and post this, I was given 1-2 puzzles based on Probability&Statistics and was given a Python question on NumPy. For the Logical Reasoning & Quantitative Aptitude part, I suggest solving CAT questions and using the website Brainstellar for puzzles(Easy & Moderate puzzles, Strategy & Probability puzzles). For the Python coding section, you need to have your fundamentals clear in Python, especially in OOPs, as these questions would be tricky to solve under the given time limit. FOR THE INTERVIEW ROUND PIRAMAL FINANCE 1)Past internship experiences in data science and good selfprojects, where you have done something innovative, will help you drive the conversations in this round. Standard DSA questions could balance your lack of data science knowledge. Apart from this, practising probability and statistics questions & easy to PARTING ADVICE moderate puzzles from Heard on the Street and Brainstellar should be good PARTING ADVICE I request everyone to stay calm and treat this as just a phase that will pass. CDC can be hectic and pressurizing, and hence I would request you to stay in touch with your family, friends, and seniors close to you and have frequent conversations, which would help you relieve the pressure. Feel free to reach out to multiple seniors across LinkedIn and Facebook who you feel would be able to help you or have worked in companies you aim for. This is extremely important as this would help you get a company-specific selection experience, eventually helping you target companies where your chances are higher. GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS Companies generally follow a trend of hiring the same number of people and similar backgrounds (Type of course and departments) as the previous years’ CDC. Hence, search for people with relevant profiles of CDC Internship and try to find out the number of people hired by the company, type of course, and departments of these seniors. Try not to compare your situation with your friends, as this is when you are tempted to do so. Instead, help each other to learn about different resources available online for CDC and practice questions, together timing them. SELECTION PROCESS TEST One coding test testing the basic knowledge of DSA Interview Round 1 PIRAMAL GROUP SOFTWARE DEVELOPER INTERN After shortlisting, an interview will be testing general understanding of programming like optimization of code and basic DSA questions. It should be enough to fulfill any DSA requirements for the coding test of Piramal. But for other companies you might need more practice from leetcode or codeforces and some companies even ask ratings in the platforms PARTING ADVICE Remember to explain the concepts to the interviewer that you are good at. Making a good CV should be your primary focus. You should start to focus on development from 2nd year onward. Remember to always keep interacting with the interviewer when you are writing your code. GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS Stage 3 CV Discussion+HR interview Keep doing the hard work from the first year itself. Remember to enjoy and chill out with your friends but always keep in mind that you can't prepare everything for the interviews at the last hour. Know your friends and those who are not. Stay away from people who are holding you back. Remember to help others as you will need them as well in the future but prioritize yourself above anyone else. Additionally, I was asked about my proficiency in coding and what languages I can code in, followed by a few basic-intermediate linked list problems. I was also questioned about the internships/projects mentioned on my CV. Interview Round 3 The final round was a mix of HR and technical questions. My knowledge of Python libraries, mainly Pandas and NumPy, was tested with a few HR questions in between. The interviewers are pretty chill and will make you feel very comfortable, so just be in the moment and you'll ace the interview. PARTING ADVICE QUBE RESEARCHQUANTITATIVE RESEARCH CDC can become a pretty strenuous process; keep talking to friends and family as it prevents you from overthinking stuff, and maintain a calm state of mind as it is really crucial during the interviews. It's good advice to give mock interviews with your friends. While preparing, you'll see your friends prepare for all sorts of profiles. It is overwhelming, but trust your gut and stick to 2-3 profiles, tops; do not run around trying to prepare for everything. It'll get hectic, but it's quite an interesting ride, wish you all the luck! GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS Initiate and lead conversations to your strong points during the interview. Trust your knowledge and answer confidently. If you are unaware of something, it's better to tell it and you could ask a question or two to show that you are inquisitive and wanting to learn new things. Lastly, if your interviews do happen online, make sure you have a stable internet connection (pretty basic but I faced quite some issues on campus). SELECTION PROCESS Coding Round RAZORPAY SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT One coding round with 2 questions, the level of questions was hard. DP and Graph were asked if I am not wrong. Don't panic, above all, because if something doesn't work, its logic explanation can help ease out the interview. Do research a bit about Siemens EDA, because it's one of the Big 4 in EDA sector. PARTING ADVICE Have fun solving the questions during the interview. Don't hesitate to ask for more clarity on the questions. If somehow the interview doesn't go well, don't overthink about it, cause there are many such opportunities going to come in the future. GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS DOs - Have a proper working IDE, Logic Explanation before coding out, Taking proper time before answering each question. DON'T 'S - Panic, Over question the interviewer, improper background and outfit (obviously) SELECTION PROCESS 1st Technical Round SILICON LABS ANALOG/RF There were basic fundamental questions on RLC circuits. There were also some questions on op-amps and they were generally very fundamental without any out-of-the-box thinking required. 2nd Technical Round The second round consisted of similar questions with some added complexity. INFLUENCE OF PROJECTS/INTERNSHIPS ELIGIBLE DEPARTMENTS 3/5 There is no cross-questoning based on projects but projects in a particular domain helps perform better in the interview. ECE, EE, IE, INDUSTRIAL INFLUENCE OF PORS/EAA'S 0/5 CGPA CUTOFF NONE SELECTION PROCESS Stage 1 1st Technical SPECIFIC SKILLSET REQUIRED FOR INTERVIEW(S) Generally, interviewers tend to ask the most basic of questions, related to topics taught in class 12. Along with that, a basic understanding of the fundamentals of electronics is also necessary. Finally, some knowledge of MATLAB would also help. SUGGESTIONS FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED PROCESS Brushing up topics of RLC circuits is a must as interviewers ask questions on this topic. Concepts like amplifiers, op-amps, frequency response and feedback loops should also be covered. Finally, a basic knowledge of MATLAB is also required. Round PARTING ADVICE Stage 2 2nd Technical The best advice I can give is to not lose hope, when you see that your peers are getting internships but you are unable to get one. It's better to learn from the mistakes made in the selection rounds of other companies and learn from those mistakes and push yourself to do better in the future. Round GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS If you don't know the answer to a question, simply say that "I don't know". Beating around the bush would do you more harm. While mulling over the answer to a question, try thinking out loud. This would let the interviewer know your approach to the solution, and he/she might give you some hints as well. SELECTION PROCESS Test SIMPL DATA SCIENCE It has 30 aptitude questions and one coding question. Questions asked in the test were pretty easy. Interview they just wanted to know how good are your analytical skills and basics about ML, in my case I was not that familiar with ML and hence they asked me to code in C and a few puzzle questions and probability questions which were very basic if you have a good grasp over them. For the interview just be confident and make them know that you are capable of learning anything they train you even if you were very weak in particular topic. They only needed interns who can learn to their best. Test PARTING ADVICE Stage 2 Just don't panic, be patient and very attentive in all the cases If you are not from a data science background earlier don't worry just know the basic stuff about it before interview and tell them the truth. Else you would have to face all the stuff you don't know. Technical Interview Stage 3 HR interview GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS Try to give the interviewer a feel that you are very good learner. The three questions were - i) Finding LCA of two nodes in a binary tree. ii) Longest sub-string with unique characters, given the string only contains lower-case English alphabets. iii) Unfortunately, I dont remember the third question, but it was quite easy and a standard problem. Technical Interview 2 CGPA CUTOFF 0 SELECTION PROCESS Stage 1 Coding Test Stage 2 Technical Interview 1 i) Project discussion - Discussion of scalability of my application. A brief questioning on NoSQL vs SQL databases. A discussion on whether my application adequately follows the system design principles or not. ii) OOPS in C++. Inheritance was asked to be explained. From the input string, we have to delete any two characters of our choice, such that the remaining string should match at least one string in the given database. The most efficient solution to this was using the Trie data-structure. HR Round Standard HR round with standard questions about interests, weakness/strengths, interest in software engineering, a discussion of what Sprinklr does. INFLUENCE OF PROJECTS/INTERNSHIPS 4/5 Technical Interview 2 The second round had a very in-depth and grilling discussion about my project in Spring+Java. The project that I did was industry grade, and hence the interviewer was quite interested to know my understanding regarding the same. GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS Do not throw casual/half-baked solutions at the interviewer with confidence. Also, it is very important to think out aloud during the interview. This also lets the interviewer know where you probably are stuck in your thinking, and how you could be helped out. SELECTION PROCESS Test Round 3 questions based on trees(leet code tree problem type) and arrays. They have there one platform which does not support the advanced cpp that is pretty challenging. PARTING ADVICE The CV should be carefully written! If you mention some subject matter, make sure you're well versed with the subject matter. GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS Solve as many DSA problems as you can! Do Leetcode problems if you want to master some concepts! SELECTION PROCESS Pre-interview tests STANDARD CHARTERED SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT Pre-interview rounds consisted of two phases, the first of which consisted primarily of psychometric tests (or shortlist rounds). It was not difficult to say, but one needed to focus and concentrate before responding to each question since after passing this test, one would receive the test link in 1-2 hours (though the test would take place on a specified date determined by the CDC). There were just two questions in the coding round last year, although they were of a medium difficulty. Assessment Round 1 ELIGIBLE DEPARTMENTS ALL After an introduction and three to four fundamental questions about graphs (just theoretical in nature, such as what a graph is, the different kinds of graphs, and traversal), the interviewer asked me to code a graph and traverse, and then he asked me a few questions about traversal. Assessment Round 2 CGPA CUTOFF 6 SELECTION PROCESS Stage 1 Psychometric Tests + Short Coding Test Stage 2 The main emphasis of this phase was on DSA, resumes, projects, and communication skills. The interviewer opened with a projectrelated question and then quickly went over my resume. He asked a few questions about vectors and arrays before moving on to pointers, where the interviewer spent between 20 and 30 minutes. Assessment Round 3 Standard HR round, the interviewer inquired about the location of the internship. INFLUENCE OF PROJECTS/INTERNSHIPS 4/5 I mentioned two projects related to development. Interviewer asked about one and he was keen to know where the project fit in the company. Assessment Round INFLUENCE OF PORS/EAA'S Stage 3 Interview (HR) 1/5 SPECIFIC SKILLSET REQUIRED FOR INTERVIEW(S) Good knowledge of DSA, atleast should be in position to answer basic question related to DSA. SUGGESTIONS FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED PROCESS STANDARD CHARTERED SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT Practice, Practice and Practice DSA problems as much as possible. Before test, do check previous year questions on LeetCode, GFG, and other platforms, mostly they asked same question every year. For interview, have a good preparation of resume. PARTING ADVICE Focus on the fundamentals rather than trying to quickly finish the DSA syllabus. Be cool and certain throughout the interview, and have everything you mentioned on your resume prepared. Do not panic during the entire CDC process, the internship is too stochastic, so have confidence in yourself. There are many opportunities; instead, concentrate on developing the skills that will be most useful in the long term. Don't be stressed by others receiving offers, I've seen folks become anxious and perform poorly in interviews as a result. GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS Do not skip solving DSA problems during the process. CDC process is a lengthy as well as stressfull, so keep the motivation high, you just need one good day and one company and you will rock. SELECTION PROCESS TEST There was a single coding test consisting of three questions of easy to medium difficulty. UI PATH SOFTWARE ENGINEERING INTERN Interview Round 1 Two questions were asked, one purely based on data structures (Strings, trees) and the other was CP based (Ad-hoc, recursion, backtracking). Interview Round 2 ELIGIBLE DEPARTMENTS ALL Two questions were asked, one purely based on data structures (Strings, trees) and the other was CP based (Ad-hoc, recursion, backtracking). Interview Round 3 HR and Technical round INFLUENCE OF PROJECTS/INTERNSHIPS CGPA CUTOFF NONE 2/5 INFLUENCE OF PORS/EAA'S 0/5 SELECTION PROCESS Stage 1 Test SPECIFIC SKILLSET REQUIRED FOR INTERVIEW(S) Strong DSA knowledge and decent CP skills. SUGGESTIONS FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED PROCESS Practice is the key Stage 2 Technical Interview 1 Stage 3 Technical Interview 2 PARTING ADVICE Communication is the key. Consider the edge cases very carefully, because the questions asked might have a lot of edge cases and the interviewers have prepared a list of that and will judge you on the basis of how many such cases you can cover in your first solution itself. GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS Stage 4 Technical + HR Interview DOs - Good communication with the interviewers throughout the interview. Even if you can't solve the question, it is fine.. SELECTION PROCESS General VEDANTA LIMITED VLDP - GET (GRADUATE ENGINEERING TRAINEE) Shortlisted based on cv, then directly interviewed. Also better to know about how VISA Works and all. INFLUENCE OF PROJECTS/INTERNSHIPS 2/5 INFLUENCE OF PORS/EAA'S ELIGIBLE DEPARTMENTS CS,EC,EE,MA CGPA CUTOFF NONE 4/5 So in my interview, he didn't start with the projects, but he started with my POR'S and gave multiple cases followed by 35-40 minutes, I would say. SPECIFIC SKILLSET REQUIRED FOR INTERVIEW(S) Please do focus on the Non Tech part also along with Tech skills whether it be Python, SQL, CP. Non Tech involves Puzzles, Case studies and guestimates. SELECTION PROCESS Stage 1 Test SUGGESTIONS FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED PROCESS So, Data Engineering role in Visa the tests were focussed on Python along with the libraries, frameworks. Also there will a coding question and SQL is must!! PARTING ADVICE Stage 2 Technical + HR Interview Get covered with the python, statistics, SQL and case solving sure you'll gonna rock! GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS Please don't panic during the entire interview process, if you don't know, please say it in a good manner no need to be ashamed of anything. Better edge if you go to the interview with some research on the company, maybe like Vision, functionality and basic questions on your career interests. Frame it well and present it without any fear! SELECTION PROCESS Online Test WELLS FARGO SWE An online test(had questions on general aptitude, English and candle stick chart questions, 1 DP question, one normal question doable by C++ STL and vectors and common sense) 1st Interview Form a stack using two queues ( very standard question) Had a question where I needed to convert the graph into MST to solve the question(ofc the interviewer didn't give me a hint on how to do it; I had to figure it out on my own) DP question( was slightly deviated from standard dp questions but was easy) ELIGIBLE DEPARTMENTS OPEN FOR ALL 2nd Interview Discussion on my resume and what I have done in past, including extra-curricular, was fun; actually, I didn't have to think much before answering the questions. CGPA CUTOFF 8.5 INFLUENCE OF PROJECTS/INTERNSHIPS 4/5 SELECTION PROCESS Stage 1 Shortlisting Test Stage 2 1st Interview I had internships and projects on my CV. It turned out that my interviewers were from a tech background. I had done an internship in k8s and had used a lot of monitoring tools that are present in the CNCF landscape, so had an extensive discussion around them. Also had a discussion with them about how I maintain the project's best coding practices I follow for backend. Apart from that, the overall interviews were very chill. INFLUENCE OF PORS/EAA'S 0/5 SPECIFIC SKILLSET REQUIRED FOR INTERVIEW(S) Stage 3 2nd Interview There is no specific skill set, I'll say, it's just that be very well versed with everything on your resume because the interviewers can bombard questions from any portion of the resume. SUGGESTIONS FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED PROCESS WELLS FARGO SWE For online test: - prepare DSA(general stl, recursion, binary search, DP, graphs and binary tree) - prepare aptitude, though it's not that extensive tbh - candlestick charts and basic stock market and finance(hardly 1 week of preparation) For interviews: - prepare your resume well - make sure to have some good and full-stack projects(backend with tests and loggers and well-planned schemas and frontend using the api from the backend. You can dockerize the project as well and push it on docker hub so that during interview you can run the project on the interviewers' system. I did it, and he was quite impressed). But it was my case, if you do some other technical thing it's also good, just be very well prepared and make sure you follow the best practices. - make sure to read about the company(though they didn't ask me why you want to join our company one may get such questions as well) - be confident in what you say - listen well to the interviewer(being a good listener is very crucial) - dress properly you can always reask a question(better than answering a partially understood question) PARTING ADVICE Prepare well and don't think much about the process, you'll gradually do very well. GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS Don't interrupt the interviewer, and ask reasonable questions only. Have a sense of what questions can sound stupid to the interviewers. SELECTION PROCESS Shortlisting Test ZEPTO DATA SCIENCE The test had a few MCQs on ML basics, followed by one midlevel CP question and one SQL query question. I was able to solve everything but the SQL query, and it was enough to get me shortlisted. Technical Interview The technical round was fairly simple, and focused majorly on my CV and interns. HR Interview CGPA CUTOFF NONE The HR round was as any other, asking why I wanted to join the company and why I was applying for a corporate internship after considerable research-based endeavours (if you're in the same situation, just go with "research in papers rarely makes it to the production line, and me like real world impact that puts smile on people's faces." Works like a charm) INFLUENCE OF PROJECTS/INTERNSHIPS SELECTION PROCESS Stage 1 Shortlisting Test Stage 2 5/ 5 Most of the technical round was just about my previous interns and the work I did there. Prepare for questions on why you used x method and did you try using y, etc. One common strategy people follow is to add one point more to the experience you're most confident/proud of, ie. say you have two internships each with 2 points of description, add another point to the one you're most confident/proud of. For any experience you mention, try including two points that take up atleast 80% of the line. If you haven't worked on any projects/internships yet, I strongly suggest working towards the same, as demonstrable experience beats knowledge you claim to have. Technical Interview INFLUENCE OF PORS/EAA'S 0/ 5 Stage 3 HR Interview SPECIFIC SKILLSET REQUIRED FOR INTERVIEW(S) Good logical reasoning, fluency in expression, critical thinking and good problem solving skills SUGGESTIONS FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED PROCESS CP, while not a must is recommended atleast till C-level questions for data science roles in general, and while it can get mind-numbingly annoying, its a good skill to have for interviews and tests of any tech role. Skills you'll never use on the job aside, read up on your ML basics, ie how common ML frameworks work, when and why to use them, etc PARTING ADVICE ZEPTO DATA SCIENCE I'll leave you with a quote one of my seniors introduced me to and has stuck with me over the years. It goes: "Angels can fly because they take themselves lightly" GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS DOs: Chill, DONTs: Panic. I know this is passed around a lot but a version of you that has 50% knowledge of a topic and doesn't panic, is better than a sweaty 75% any day. Give enough mock interviews to boost your confidence, and remember, there's no such thing as a D-day, just one of several opportunities you'll get to prove your worth. SELECTION PROCESS Test 3 medium level coding questions were asked ZEPTO SOFTWARE 1st Round 2 CP questions were asked based on graph algorithms. The topic of questions may vary from one interviewee to another. 2nd Round I was asked to explain a project of my choice from my CV, then they asked me whether I knew OOPS, DBMS, and OS. I only had OOPS in my course until that time, so they asked me a question related to OOPS. After that, some HR questions were asked. ELIGIBLE DEPARTMENTS ALL DEPARTMENTS INFLUENCE OF PROJECTS/INTERNSHIPS 3/5 In the final round the interviewee is asked to explain a project/internship of choice. INFLUENCE OF PORS/EAA'S CGPA CUTOFF 7 0/5 SPECIFIC SKILLSET REQUIRED FOR INTERVIEW(S) CP( graphs and dynamic programming very important), OOPS, DBMS and other core CS concepts should be prepared thoroughly. SELECTION PROCESS Stage 1 Coding Test Stage 2 1st Technical SUGGESTIONS FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED PROCESS Practice a lot. PARTING ADVICE Round •Practice a lot. There's no shortcut to that at all. Solve Stage 3 as many problems from as many topics as possible. It 2nd Round won't just help you in grabbing an internship offer but (Technical +HR) also builds aptitude and intuitive thinking. •Prepare your CV very well, and write only things you can defend. Be honest, and don't lie. Stay confident, and don't get stressed out. •Keep your morale high during the internship season. CDC seasons are hectic and stressful, and rejections are a part of the process. Don't get disheartened from initial failures, there's something better for you in the store. ZEPTO SOFTWARE •Don't be quiet throughout your interview; keep talking to the interviewer(s). Keep interacting with them. Think out loud during the interview. Always remember, it's not the correct answer that matters; it's the approach that matters. SELECTION PROCESS Test 2 questions of easy - medium level were asked and time was very much sufficient ZOMATO SOFTWARE Interview one round of interview which was 1 hour and was asked about my projects and system design , design patterns (mentioned in CV) for 1520 mins and quickly jumped to dsa questions where 2 questions were asked (one from map and other from linked list )and I had to code them while sharing screen and run it while I solved one question completely and for other question didn't have time to code so logic was good enough and we discussed misc stuff for some time INFLUENCE OF PROJECTS/INTERNSHIPS 4/ 5 He asked me how many interns I did previously, I didn't do even one xD and I am sure from his words that he wanted to discuss about my previous interns ELIGIBLE DEPARTMENTS CHEMICAL AND MECHANICAL INFLUENCE OF PORS/EAA'S 0/5 SPECIFIC SKILLSET REQUIRED FOR INTERVIEW(S) SELECTION PROCESS Stage 1 Test Just DSA will not be sufficient, bit of development knowledge is also important SUGGESTIONS FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED PROCESS focus on Problem solving (medium qns on leetcode) and learn some stuff about software development (web dev, DBMS, system design etc) PARTING ADVICE Stage 2 Interview 1. Practising Leetcode medium questions will be good enough for anyone to clear Coding round as difficulty is easy - medium 2. Where as Interview round is bit different because along with the DSA questions you will be also asked about your previous internships (if any) , projects/prior knowledge about web dev, DBMS, etc 3. Just be honest in interview if you are not sure about something and don't try to cover it up GENERAL DOS AND DON'TS nothing as such, just give coding test and interview. All the Best
