Abstract
This paper discusses the development of non-intrusive UltraAnalyticsR technology for condition and fitness
for service assessments of polymer composites. The paper highlights the corrosion mechanisms which
affect the reliability and serviceability of non-metallic assets particularly installed in oil & gas and
petrochemical industry. A brief background and historical development of non-destructive inspection
technologies for FRP/GRP assets is discussed and a technical comparison is drawn between UltraAnalyticsR
and other existing technologies. The is followed by scientific principles and approach for fitness for service
assessment by UltraAnalyticsR technology and many real-time case studies for life assessment of GRP
storage tanks, piping and auxiliary equipments are presented. Moreover, inspection results and damage
modes are corelated with laboratory-based findings for few of the In-house failure analysis of GRP
components. The paper is concluded by listing a few of notable advantages and limitation of
UltraAnalyticsR technology.
