The Wallet is a Filipino short story written by Benjamin Pascual. The story began with Aling
Martha who went to the market to buy presents for her graduating daughter. The conflict began when
Aling Martha bumped into the scruffy-looking young boy, clothed in greasy shirt and tattered pants.
When she could not find her wallet, she falsely accused the boy of stealing it. The poor boy resisted,
claiming he did not do it but Aling Matha wouldn’t believe him and still insisted until it resulted to the
death of the boy. Upon returning home, Aling Martha was met by her husband and told her that she
left her wallet.
