Milk is an example of adulterated food.there are so many ways milk
can be adulterated some are:
1. In order to increase the carbohydrate content and density of the
milk, table sugar is added as an adulterant which also increases
the density of milk.
2. Water, primarily used to increase the volume of milk, is the most
common adulterant, which alters the beneficial nutritive value,
density, and foamy appearance of milk. Milk freezes at −0.55 °C,
and the freezing point increases with the addition of water in
milk.
3.
Starch is another common adulterant found in milk. Starch is
added to make up the density of milk. This helps to prevent the
detection of extraneous water added to milk. Consumption of
starch may cause diarrhea in the human body.
4. Hydrogen Peroxide is added to milk for improving the quality of
milk. It provides prolonged freshness to milk. Hydrogen
Peroxide badly affects gastrointestinal tracts. It may lead to
gastritis and inflammation.
Honey is another example of adulterated food. There are so
many ways honey can be adulterated some are:
1. sugar is the most common adulterant.
Inexpensive sugar syrups are used to increase the
volume of honey.
2. Corn syrup is considered an adulterant in honey because
it is often added to dilute the honey and increase its volu
me, which can deceive consumers into thinking they are b
uying pure honey
3. Dextrose, like corn syrup, is used to dilute honey and incr
ease volume. This fake sweetness lowers the quality of hon
ey.
4. Molasses is used as an adulterant in honey for the same ba
sic reason: to increase volume cheaply. But molasses is thi
ck and dark, so it can give honey an inconsistent texture a
nd flavor.
Jam is another example of adulterated food. There are so
many ways jam can be adulterated some are:
1.Artificial colors in jam are used to make it look mor
e vibrant and appealing, but they deceive you into thi
nking the jam is made from high-quality, ripe fruits.
2.Sugar syrups like corn syrup or high fructose corn
syrup are used to bulk up the volume of jam cheaply.
They give the illusion of fruit sweetness without actua
l fruit.
3.Pectin is a natural thickener, but when used in exce
ss, it can mask the quality of the fruit in jam.
4.Starch thickens jam without adding flavor, allowing
less fruit to be used. It bulks up the product, making i
t seem like you're getting more fruit content than you
actually are
Grain is another example of adulterated food. There are so many
ways grains can be adulterated some are:
1.
1.Dust can be an adulterant in grains because it often contain
s contaminants like husk, sand, and other impurities. Thes
e contaminants can reduce the quality and nutritional value o
f the grains, and sometimes even make them unsafe for consu
mption.
2.Pebbles are used as adulterants in grains to increase their
weight and deceive consumers into thinking they're getting
more product than they actually are.
3.Straws are used as adulterants in grains to increase their
weight and give the illusion of higher quality or quantity
4.Weed seeds are considered adulterants in grains because t
hey can contaminate the grain supply, reducing its quality an
d posing potential health risks
Tea is another example of adulterated food. There are so
many ways tea can be adulterated some are:
1.Artificial coloring in tea can be an adulterant because it hid
es the true quality of the leaves. Poor quality tea might be dye
d to look more vibrant and fresh, deceiving you into thinking
you're getting a premium product.
2.Mislabeling tea can be a form of adulteration when producers
claim a tea is from a prestigious region or specific plant variety t
o hike up the price, but it’s actually not.
3.Foreign materials like sand, starch, iron filings, or even used
tea leaves are added to bulk up tea, making it heavier and mo
re voluminous.
4. Excessive drying can mask poor
quality tea leaves by making them look fresh and vibrant when t
hey are anything but. This trickery dehydrates the leaves beyon
d what’s necessary, giving an illusion of quality that doesn't exist
.
