A cause and effect text explains reasons and results of the phenomenon or
happenings, situations and trends. It makes use of transition/signal words such as
because, one reason why, as a result, hence, therefore and thus.
In composition, cause and effect is a method of paragraph or essay development
in which the writer analyzes the reasons for-and/or the consequences of an action, event
or decision.
A cause and effect paragraph or essay can be organized in various ways. For
instance, causes and/or effects can be arranged in either chronological order or reverse
chronological order. Alternatively, points can be presented in terms of emphasis, from
least important to most important, or vice versa.

We, the Grade 5 pupils in my school, are now better speakers of the English
language. Why? Here are several reasons. First, our teacher in English inspires us
to do our best because she prepares and teaches our lessons in the English
language well. Second, all the other teachers speak to us in English in all zones of
the campus, except during our classes in Filipino and Social Studies. Another reason
is that we are exposed to many activities in which we can practice speaking well, not
to mention being serious in our speech class held in the laboratory. We also have
contests in declamation, interpretative reading, elocution, aside from plays, debates
