Flexi Cabinet Outdoor (FCOB) Quick Guide
This guide is a quick reference for the Flexi Cabinet Outdoor (FCOB) installation.
The Flexi Cabinet Outdoor (FCOB) can be installed vertically (on walls, poles and floors) and horizontally (on
floors).
More detailed information on FCOB installation and cabling are described in the Installing Flexi Cabinet Outdoor (FCOB) DN09223971 document.

with seals provided by Nokia. This is also recommended for indoor installations.

Clearances for vertical installation
Clearances for horizontal installation
NOTE:
When installing and maintaining modules inside of the FCOB make sure that there is a minimum front clearance of
600 mm (23.6 in.) for door openings.
NOTE:
Make sure that there is a minimum bottom clearance of 160 mm (6.3 in.) for cable routing for vertical and horizontal
installation.
NOTE:
Make sure that there is a minimum side clearance of 200 mm (7.9 in.) for better cabinet’s performance.
Notice:
The graphics in this Quick Guide show cabinet version A.102. The only difference between version A.102 and
B.101 is in the door lock. Folowing instructions are valid for both cabinet versions.
Checklist
Delivery is complete.
Equipment is not damaged.
Site meets the minimum clearances.

3 Lifting FCOB
Notice:
The cabinet is heavy. Additional personnel or lifting equipement might be needed when the cabinet is moved,
unpacked, or lined up. In addition, follow any local regulations applicable to the installation.
1. Attach the lifting parts to the attachment points.
2. Screw the lifting parts to the cabinet with ten M5
screws using a TX25 screwdriver.
3. Secure the crane to the cabinet.
4. Carefully lift the cabinet to the desired installation
position.
Notice:
Make sure that the distance between crane lifting point and the cabinet’s lifting parts is minimum 300 mm
(11.8 in.) to avoid bending the equipment.
NOTE:
The cabinet can be lifted when fully equipped (maximum lifting weight: 65 kg).
Checklist
The FCOB screws are tighten to 4.3 Nm (38.0 in-lb.).
The cabinet is lifted according to the instructions.
The cabinet is secured in position.

4 Installing FCOB onto a wall
NOTE:
FCOB can be installed from either side of the cabinet onto a wall. Only vertical installations on walls are possible for
FCOB.
NOTE:
Make sure that the designated wall is flat and strong enough to bear the cabinet weight in any condition.
NOTE:
Install lifting parts before installing the cabinet onto a wall. See chapter Lifting the cabinet.
1. Mark the mounting hole locations on the wall and drill four 18 mm (0.7 in.) diameter holes for the M12 expansion
bolts.
NOTE:
Use the drilling jig when marking the mounting hole locations.
2. Insert the M12 expansion bolts into holes in the wall.
NOTE:
When applying the bolts, ensure the fixing methods correspond to the wall’s properties.
3. Apply the upper mounting bracket to the wall.
4. Fix the upper mounting bracket to a wall with two M12 expansion bolts’s washers, spring washers and nuts.
5. Loosely fix the lower mounting bracket to the cabinet with three M5 screws a TX25 screwdriver.
6. Attach two connecting studs into the cabinet and fix them using a TX25 screwdriver

7. Attach the cabinet onto the wall using the lifting parts and two connecting studs.
8. Tighten the upper mounting bracket to the lifting part with three M5 screw using a TX25 screwdriver.
9. Tighten the lower mounting bracket to the wall using two washers, spring washers and nuts dedicated to M12
expansion bolts.
10. Tighten the lower mounting bracket screws to the cabinet using a TX25 screwdriver.
Checklist
The FCOB screws are tighten to 4.3 Nm (38.0 in-lb.).
The FCOB mounting brackets are secured to the wall.

NOTE:
Install lifting the parts before installing the cabinet on a pole. See chapter Lifting the cabinet.
1. Install the FPKA.
NOTE:
Make sure that the distance between the upper and lower FPKA kits is 482.5 mm (19.0 in.).
NOTE:
Remove all M8 screws from the FPKA kits before installing the FCOB.
2. Install the upper mounting bracket onto the FPKA with two M8 screws.
3. Loosley fix two M8 screws to the FPKA lower kit.
NOTE:
Leave 5 mm (0.2 in.) distance between the screw head and the FPKA kit.
4. Install the lower mounting bracket onto the bottom of the cabinet and loosely fix the three M5 screws using a
TX25 screwdriver.
5. Insert two connecting studs into the cabinet’s wall and fix them using a TX25 screwdriver.

6. Hang the cabinet off the upper mounting bracket
and attach it with the connecting studs.
7. Tighten the upper mounting bracket to the lifting
part with five M5 screws using a TX25 screwdriver.
8. Tighten the FPKA lower mounting kit M8 srews to
the FCOB lower mounting bracket.
9. Secure the lower mounting bracket to the cabinet
with three M5 screws using TX25 screwdriver..
Checklist
The FPKA kits are properly installed on a pole.
The FPKA M8 screws are tighten to 20 Nm (14.7 ft-lb.)
The FCOB mounting brackets are secured to the cabinet and to the FPKA kits.

NOTE:
Install lifting the parts before installing the cabinet on a pole. See chapter Lifting the cabinet.
1. Install the FPKC.
NOTE:
Make sure that the distance between the upper and lower FPKA kits is 482.5 mm (19.0 in.).
NOTE:
Remove all M8 screws from the FPKC kits before installing the FCOB.

Checklist
The FPKC kits are properly installed on a pole.
The FPKC M8 screws are tighten to 20 Nm (14.7 ft-lb.)
The FCOB mounting brackets are secured to the cabinet and to the FPKC kits.

NOTE:
It is recommended to install the lifting parts before installing the cabinet vertically on a floor if the cabinet
Needs to be lifted to the desired position. See chapter Lifting the cabinet.
1. Mark the mounting hole locations on the floor
and drill four 18 mm (0.7 in.) diameter holes for
the M12 expansion bolts.
NOTE:
Use drilling jig when marking the mounting hole
locations.
2. Insert the M12 expansion bolts into the holes
in the floor.
NOTE:
When applying the bolts, ensure the fixing
methods correspond to the floor’s properties.
3. Fix the mounting brackets onto the cabinet
with six M5 screws using a TX25 screwdriver.
4. Place the cabinet with the mounting brackets
onto the expansion bolts.
5. Fix the cabinet to the floor by securing the
mounting brackets to the expansion bolts with
four M12 washers, spring washers and nuts.
Checklist
The FCOB screws are tighten to 4.3 Nm (38.0 in-lb.).
The FCOB mounting brackets are secured to the floor.

5. Place the cabinet with mounting brackets
onto the expansion bolts.
6. Fix the cabinet to the floor by securing
the mounting brackets to the expansion
bolts with four M12 washers, spring washers
and nuts.
NOTE:
When applying the bolts, ensure the fixing
methods correspond to the floor’s
properties.
Installing cable entry cover
NOTE:
Follow these instructions after performing FSIH or AirScale SM Indoor cabling. For more information on
cabling, see the Installing Flexi Cabinet Outdoor (FCOB) DN09223971 document.
7. Connect the cables.
Notice:
Make sure that the distance between crane lifting point and the cabinet’s lifting parts is minimum 300 mm (11.8 in.)
to avoid bending the equipment.
8. Attach the cable entry cover by inserting the side wedges into the cabinet.

9. Secure the cable entry cover with two M5 screws
using a TX25 screwdriver .
10. Secure the cables with cable ties.
NOTE:
Tie power cables and grounding cable separately from other cables.
NOTE:
AMFG FCOA installation kit (474417A) is required to install AMOB in FCOA.It is recommended to fix cable ties to the
mounting bracket.
Checklist
The FCOB screws are tighten to 4.3 Nm (38.0 in-lb.).
The FCOB mounting brackets are secured to the floor.
Optical cables do not exceed the maximum bending radius of 50 mm (2.0 in.).
The cable entry cover is secured to the cabinet.
9 Stacking FCOBs
NOTE: Only horizontal installations are possible for stacked FCOBs. A maximum of two FCOBs can be stacked.
Before stacking FCOBs, install the lower cabinet horizontally on a floor. See chapter Installing horizontally on a floor.
NOTE:
Modules installed inside of the FCOB and then stacked
on top of another FCOB must comply with the ETSI EN
300 019-2-4 Class 4M5 standard.
NOTE:
Consult Nokia about third-party installation on top of
FCOB.
NOTE:
Nokia AirScale System Module Indoor installed inside
of FCOB must not be stacked on top of another FCOB.
1. Insert four connecting studs on the top of the lower
cabinet and fix them with a TX25 screwdriver.

2. Install the mounting brackets to the upper cabinet with six M5 screws using a TX25 screwdriver.
3. Place and secure the upper cabinet onto the
connecting studs of the lower cabinet.
4. Tighten the upper cabinet mounting brackets to
the lower cabinet with two M5 screws.

Installing cable entry cover
NOTE:
Follow these instructions after completing
the FSIH. For more information on cabling, see
the Installing Flexi Cabinet Outdoor (FCOB)
DN09223971 document.
5. Connect the cables.
Notice:
Do not exceed the maximum ben ding
radius of 50 mm (2.0 in.) for the optical
cables.
6. Attach the cable entry cover to both cabinets by inserting the side wedges into the
cabinet.
7. Secure the cable entry covers with four M5
screws using a TX25 screwdriver.
8. Secure the cables with cable ties.
NOTE:
It is recommended to fix cable ties to the
lower cabinet mounting bracket.
Checklist
The FCOB screws are tighten to 4.3 Nm (38.0 in-lb.).
The lower FCOB mounting brackets are secured to the floor.
The upper FCOB is secured to the lower FCOB.
Optical cables do not exceed the maximum bending radius of 50 mm (2.0 in.).
The cable entry cover is secured to the cabinet.

NOTE:
he 3U casing can be installed on top of the FCOB, but only when the FCOB is installed in the horizontal position.
See chapter Installing horizontally on a floor.
NOTE:
A maximum of three 3U casings can be installed in Earthquake Zone 4 areas and a maximum of five 3U casings can
be installed in Earthquake Zone 2 areas.
NOTE:
Modules installed on top of the FCOB must comply
with the ETSI EN 300 019-2-4 Class 4M5 standard.
NOTE:
Consult Nokia about third-party installation on top of FCOB.
NOTE:
Nokia AirScale System Module Indoor must not be
installed on top of the FCOB.
1. Insert four connecting studs on top of the cabinet
and fix them using a TX25 screwdriver.
2. Place and secure the 3U casing bracket onto the connecting studs of the cabinet.
3. Fix the 3U casing bracket onto the cabinet with two
M5 screws.

4. Install the 3U casing on top of another 3U casing
using the connecting studs.
NOTE:
If necessary, repeat this step to install another 3U
casings.
Checklist
The cabinet is properly installed on a floor.
The 3U casing is properly installed to the cabinet.
11 Installing FCOB on top of 3U casing
NOTE:
The FCOB can be installed on top of the 3U casing, but only when the FCOB is installed in the horizontal position.
See chapter Installing horizontally on a floor.
NOTE:
A maximum of three 3U casings can be installed under
FCOB in Earthquake Zone 2 areas.
Notice:
Do not install FCOB on the 3U casing in Earquake
Zone 4 areas.
1. Install the mounting brackets to the cabinet with six
M5 screws using a TX25 screwdriver.

2. Place and secure the cabinet onto the
connecting studs of the 3U casing.
3. Tighten the cabinet mounting brackets to the 3U
casing with two M5 screws.
Checklist
The 3U casing is secured to the floor.
The FCOB is secured to the 3U casing.

12 Installing FYGG inside of FCOB
1. Remove the four M5 screws and pull out the dummy casing.
2. Loosen the small plate middle M4 screw and remove the side M4 screw.
3. Rotate the small plate by 180 degrees.
4. Fix the small plate side M4 screw and tighten the middle M4 screw.
5. Install the FYGG into the dummy casing with three M5X35 screws.
6. Reinsert and reinstall the dummy casing with FYGG into the FCOB using four M5 screws.
7. Connect the power cables between the PDU and the FYGG.
Checklist
The small plate position is changed.
The FYGG is secured to the dummy casing.
The dummy casing screws are tighten to 4.3 Nm (38 in-lb.).

13 Installing FYGE inside of FCOB
1. Remove the four M5 screws and pull out the dummy casing.
2. Loosen the small plate middle M4 screw and remove the side M4 screw.
3. Rotate the small plate by 180 degrees.
4. Fix the small plate side M4 screw and tighten the middle M4 screw.
5. Install the FYGE into the dummy casing with three M5X35 screws.
6. Reinsert and reinstall the dummy casing with FYGE into the FCOB using four M5 screws.
7. Connect the power cables between the PDU and the FYGE.
Checklist
The small plate position is changed.
The FYGE is secured to the dummy casing.
The dummy casing screws are tighten to 4.3 Nm (38 in-lb.).

1. Insert the lower guide plate into the cabinet’s slots.
2. Insert the upper guide plate into the cabient’s slots.
3. Insert the FSIH into the cabinet using the guide
plates.
NOTE:
Note the FSIH terminal block position.
4. Fix the FSIH into the cabinet using four M5 screws
using a TX25 screwdriver.
NOTE:
For cabling FSIH inside of FCOB, see the Installing
Flexi Cabinet Outdoor (FCOB) DN09223971 document.
Checklist
The FSIH is inserted inside of the cabinet using the left slots.
The FSIH is secured to the cabinet.
The screws are tighten to 4.3 Nm (38 in-lb.).

NOTE:
The slots on the right are dedicated for AirScale SM Indoor installation.
1. Insert the upper guide plate into the
cabinet’s slots.
2. Insert the lower guide plate into the
cabient’s slots.
3. Insert the AMIA subrack into the cabinet
using guide plates.
4. Fix the AMIA subrack into the cabinet using
four M5 screws using a TX25 screwdriver.

5. Loosen the dummy panel screws using TX10
screwdriver.
6. Remove the dummy panels one by one from
the AMIA subrack.
NOTE:
The subrack is delivered with factory-installed
dummy panels. Only remove dummy panels
from the slots where you are going to install a
plug-in unit.
7. Pick up the ASIA plug-in units in sequence.
Insert each plug-in unit to AMIA subrack handling them carefully.
8. Fix ASIA screws to the AMIA subrack using a
TX10 screwdriver.

9. Pick up the ABIA plug-in units in sequence. Insert each plug-in unit to AMIA subrack handling them carefully.
10. Fix ABIA screws to AMIA subrack using a TX10 screwdriver.
NOTE:

Checklist
The AirScale SM Indoor is inserted inside of the cabinet using the right slots.
The AMIA subrack is secured to the cabinet.
The AMIA subrack screws are tighten to 4.3 Nm (38 in-lb.).
The ASIA and ABIA plug-in units are secured to the AMIA subrack.
The ASIA and ABIA plug-in units screws are tighten to 1 Nm (8.9 in-lb.).
All slots have either a plug-in unit or a dummy panel installed. There are no empty slots.
