1. Introduction
1.1 early life
On September 9, 1890, Harland David Sanders was born in
Henryville, Indiana. Sanders had to take care of his younger
brother and sister when his father passed away when he was six
years old. At 7 years old, Sanders already had mastered several
regional dishes. At the age of 16, he dropped out of school. At the
age of 17, he was fired from 4 jobs.
1.2 formative years
At the age of 18, he got married and became a railroad conductor.
At 19, he became a father to a little girl. At 20, his wife left him
and took their baby daughter with her. At 22, he enlisted in the us
army, applied to law school, and faced rejection after rejection
from school and jobs he was at. He then became an insurance
agent ended with another failure. For the first time, he decided to
become a cooker and a dishwasher at a small café.
1.3 path to success and career
He started preparing meals for hungry travelers at a service
station in Corbin, Kentucky, when he was forty years old. Instead
of having a restaurant, Sanders hosted visitors at the table in his
dining room. He relocated across the street to a restaurant and
motel with 142 seats when news got out and more people began
to come for the meal. He spent the following nine years
developing his special mixture of eleven herbs and spices, which is
still in use today. This unique formula is still kept under wraps.
Sanders dedicated himself to the chicken franchising industry in
1952. He cooked large quantities of his chicken for restaurant
1
owners and their staff while traveling the nation. It was decided
that he would receive a nickel for each piece of chicken sold. Only
a handshake and a verbal agreement were required to seal deals.
His chicken had more than 600 franchised locations by 1964.
Sanders sold his stake in the business for $2 million that year,
although he continued to serve as a key spokesperson.
2. Purpose of Selection
He is a real role model and an inspiration who has based his life on
hard work and determination. His story serves as an example to
the strength of dedication, demonstrating that hard work is
necessary to achieve success. He approaches obstacles head-on
with unbreakable patience, realizing that failures are only stepping
stones and that growth takes time. His strong work ethic and
dedication in the face of difficulties serve as proof to the value of
never giving up. By demonstrating that everything is achievable
with commitment and a never-give-up mentality, he inspires
people to keep going and have faith in their own abilities.
