Y7-9 Multilingualism Workshop 2024-2025 Mother Language Week Multilingualism Workshop Plan Aims: To encourage students to use different languages at school in their classes. Students will teach each other some basic phrases and greetings then practice multilingual note taking. Expected number of students: 60-70 +teachers Time (min) 5 Time: 45 minutes Stage Procedure Resources Interaction Sts arrive -remind teachers via what’s app group if sts haven’t arrived - Calm and collected Problems + Solutions Issues collecting sts (including EAL sts): 1 person responsible for collecting and messaging 3 Intro. Read out first 3 slides Projector +mic. T-sts Projector/tech fails -print outs and patience 4 Warm-up Sts discuss and count-up how many greetings they know Projector +mic. Small groups Might not stop talking: whistles 6 Re-group: to be ready for the next activity Sts write a greeting in their strongest other language (or English if they only speak English) Paper + pens Timer on screen Ind.
