called “Matchy-Matchy”.
Here's how to play:
I'll pass out a paper car to one of
you, and when the music starts,
please pass it to the person next
to you.
While the music is playing, let's
dance!
When the music stops, the
person holding the paper car will
come to the front and pick one
strip of paper.
Then, find a sentence on the
board that matches the phrase on
your strip of paper. You only
have 5 seconds to match it.
When you find the match, shout
"Matchy-Matchy!" and share
your answer with the class!
Is that clear?
Are you ready?

make you feel?
Presentation of Selection
Everyone please read.
In order for you to answer that please
read the story entitled the entitled
“Wedding Dance” written by Amador
Daguio
SUMMARY
Awiyao returns to his first wife,
Lumnay, on the night of his wedding to
another woman, Madulimay. He
apologizes to Lumnay, explaining that
he
must remarry because Lumnay has not
been able to give him a child after seven
years of marriage. In their society,
having children is essential for a man, as
it carries on his name and ensures his
place in the tribe.
Lumnay, deeply hurt, loves Awiyao but
is unable to change their fate.
She does not want another man, while
Awiyao insists that he doesn’t want
another woman either. However, the
desire for children drives Awiyao to
marry again. He acknowledges that
Madulimay is not as good a wife as
Lumnay, but his need for a child leaves
him no choice. Lumnay reflects on how
hard she has prayed and sacrificed, even
slaughtering animals in hopes] that the
god Kabunyan would bless them with a
child, but nothing has worked.
As the sound of the gangsas (gongs)
from the wedding celebration fills the
air, Awiyao urges Lumnay to join the
dance and let life go on, but she refuses.
She tells him that she does not care
about the house or the fields they
worked on together, as she plans to
return to her parents and help them with
the harvest.
Lumnay, unable to bear the separation,
clings to Awiyao, reminding him of their
love and the life they built together.
Despite her deep sadness, she finally lets
him go, knowing that their separation is
inevitable. Awiyao promises that if his
second marriage also fails, he will return
to her, and they will live out the rest of
their days together.
After
Awiyao
leaves,
Lumnay
contemplates going to the wedding to
protest, but her courage fades. She walks
away, heading to the mountain where
they had once planted beans together.
Surrounded by the growing bean plants,
Lumnay reflects on their love, the
memories they shared, and the life she
has lost. As she sits in the moonlight,
she finds solace in the quiet of the
mountains, though her heart remains
heavy with sorrow.

you ever had to let go of someone or
something you loved, and how did it

an activity!
So from the short story Amador
Daguio’s “Wedding Dance” is a

themes of tradition, love, and personal
sacrifice. The story revolves around the
tension between individual desires and
cultural expectations, focusing on a
couple, Awiyao and Lumnay, who are
forced to part due to social pressures
She missed her flight,
hence she had to
reschedule her travel
plans.
Cause: Missing her
flight

community where traditional customs
play a significant role in the lives of
individuals.
