Teacher's comments:
Aldrich can only pronounce the alphabet using Indonesian
pronunciation and is unsure of the English names of letters
such as A, E, C, G, H, etc. When tested with Book 1, he
could
read
struggled
three
with
words:
blending
"pen,"
other
"lid,"
words
and
even
"rip,"
with
but
phonics
support.
He was unable to create simple words like "can," "fan," or
"ant" from the alphabet and made errors reading words like
"jam" as "ja", "can" as "cam", and "red" as "rip." Longer
words such as "cake," "tape," and "wave" were especially
difficult for him.
Aldrich will start with Book 2: Short Vowels to improve his
phonics and reading skills. Basic alphabets should still be
reviewed by the assigned teacher, and graded books from
our mini library can be borrowed to support his progress.
