Resolution on the U.S. Bases on Okinawa FORUM: General Assembly 6 QUESTION OF: Resolution on the U.S Bases on Okinawa THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY, Recognizing the need to protect Okinawan woman from becoming the victims of crimes committed against them by members of the American military, Seeking to relocate existing military airports, including runways, from their current locations to locations closer to the shores, Affirming the need to protect the oceans near to Okinawa Further Affirming the need to maintain at the current security level for Japan and Asia at minimum, Noting the need to decrease the number of the forest fires caused by live shootings, 1. Asks the government of Okinawa to establish police stations or branch offices in each village; 2. Suggests that the police in Okinawa patrol, as soon as clause 1 has been accomplished, each village 24 hours, including by: putting lights on every houses and turning them on at night, setting burglar alarms up on all utility poles, in addition to installing security cameras and establishing offices in various places; 3. Recommends building a runway in the shape of a V after the gubernatorial election of Okinawa in November, by: making the runway like a bridge in order to make it good for the environment, b) reclaiming land from the sea and to make it into a runway; 4. Encourages the selection of four places for harbors to minimize changes for the worse in the local ocean environments, and that: two of them be at ends of Okinawa, to the northeast and southwest, the locations be discussed among the government of Okinawa, the Okinawa Business Association, and the U.S. military officers, and be decided by the beginning of 2011; 5. Requests that the U.S. military change the style of its maneuvers, by: using plastic bombs which biodegrade by microbes, changing bullets to ink or cork pellets, making training gyms inside of military bases.
