It includes multiple components to ensure a well-rounded learning experience. Each group will submit both business plan and give the business plan presentation. Submission Deadlines Business plan presentation • The visual aids should be submitted to the course system no later than 9 pm Submission Types and Methods Visual aid materials/Report Online submission Spring Semester 2025 Korea University Syllabus Business plan (15%) Three versions of a business plan draft over the semester will be collected. The first draft serves as the foundation of your work, while the second and third drafts must include the function of track changes enabled (Word is recommended). This will allow me to review how your plan evolves and improves over time. the day before the first presentation day. Business Plan • Details will be given in class. I will provide a template based on a Korean government program format, along with detailed instructions on structuring and writing your business plan. Business pitch presentation (10%) Business ideas – individual (5%) Special online discussion – Individual (5%) • Each group will have 6 minutes to pitch their business idea, followed by 6 minutes of Q&A from peers and the instructor. • Each group can have 1, 2, or up to 3 members presenting—it is not required for all members to present. • The presentation will be graded by me, but your peers will need to choose between whether they would "Invest" or "Not Invest" in the business plan presented. Groups with the three highest investment-to-non-investment ratios will receive an additional 1 point on their final project grade. Furthermore, students who choose to invest in these top three groups will earn an additional 0.8 points on their own project grade. Each student may invest in up to 5 projects. You will post your business ideas on the LMS system during the 3rd (2%) and 9th (3%) weeks of the semester. The focus of this activity is participation, so all submitted ideas, regardless of quality, will guarantee you full credit for this part of the course. In the second round (9th week), students will evaluate the posted ideas by ranking their top 20 favorites. Based on the collective rankings, the top 20 ideas will automatically determine the 20 team leaders for the final project. Students whose ideas do not make it into the top 20 must choose one of the selected teams to join and collaborate with to complete the final project. Instead of holding a class session during the national holiday, we will conduct a special online discussion through the LMS platform. You should comment on at least two business ideas by offering additional insights, constructive feedback, or alternative perspectives. On 3rd/9th week Post online This activity is due by May 8th. One semester consists of 16 weeks, but the statutory school day is 15 weeks, which means that twiceweekly classes must meet 30 times and once-weekly classes must meet at least 15 times, and midterm and final exams or assignments count as one class. Depending on faculty discretion and student consultation, the remaining 16 weeks of the semester can be used as a make-up or study week Fixed data input by the academic team Spring Semester 2025 Korea University Syllabus ▷ Miscellaneous *Attendance Class attendance does not mean your attendance check merely; It also includes your active contribution to the class discussion. Your contribution can help the conversation go forward. Therefore, attendance scores will be based on two components: base attendance (BA) and active participation (AP). The full score of attendance is 10 points. • Attendance will be checked every class since the third week, and students are allowed up to three legitimate absences without penalty. For any non-legitimate absences or additional absences beyond the three allowed, points will be deducted from the overall attendance score. The deduction increases progressively: 1 absence results in a 1-point deduction, 2 absences result in a 2-point deduction, and so on. If you have no non-legitimate or excessive absences but do not participate at all, you will receive the base attendance score of 5 points. • Active participation can be achieved through two methods: (1) in-class participation, by engaging in discussions, answering questions, contributing personal insights or external knowledge, and asking questions that advance the conversation; and (2) online participation, by initiating or contributing to discussions related to class topics in a meaningful way. For online discussions, contributions should be made within a week of the specific lecture or discussion to be eligible for grading. While you may continue the discussion beyond this timeframe, comments made after a week will not be graded. Additionally, simply agreeing with others’ ideas will not earn participation points. o This activity is separate from the special online discussion, and no BA and AP check will be conducted for the May 6th substitute discussion.) To earn the full participation score of 5, students must be recognized for active participation 20 or more times across in-class and online methods. The score decreases incrementally based on the frequency of participation, with 18–19 participations earning 4.5, 16–17 earning 4, and so forth, down to 0 points for 0–1 participation. *Group Formation A group will be formed on week 9. Students need to assign themselves to a group based on the 10 different business ideas. Each team can have up to 3-4 members (*this is subject to change depending on the final number of enrollments). *Peer Evaluation All team members are expected to contribute equally to group projects. However, if contributions are not balanced, the team must submit a report to the instructor detailing the relative contributions of each member. The report should include two parts: (1) a brief description of each member’s contributions, and (2) a percentage rating of each member’s contribution, ensuring the total adds up to 100%. One team member should send the report via email to the instructor on behalf of the team, with all other members copied (cc’d) on the email. All members must reply-all to confirm or dispute the reported contributions within 36 hours of the initial email. A lack of response within this timeframe will be considered as agreement with the report. *NO Make-up Exams You will score 0 if you miss the midterm or the final exam for reasons not accepted by the university.
