Personal Statement – Application for Internship at NUS
I am applying for an internship at NUS to gain hands-on research experience in industrial
engineering, ergonomics, and data-driven system optimization. As a third-year Industrial
Engineering and Engineering Management student at National Tsing Hua University, I am eager
to apply my academic knowledge to practical research projects and collaborate with experts in
the field.
My studies have given me a strong foundation in process optimization, human factors
engineering, and statistical analysis, and I have developed a keen interest in how data and
systems engineering can enhance industrial efficiency. In particular, I am fascinated by how
ergonomics and workplace design can improve productivity and worker well-being. Through this
internship, I hope to deepen my understanding of data-driven decision-making, system
simulation, and human-centered design in real-world applications.
NUS offers an excellent environment for me to develop my research skills and broaden my
perspective on industrial systems. I am excited about the opportunity to work alongside
experienced professors and researchers, where I can contribute to ongoing projects while also
learning advanced methodologies in data analytics, machine learning applications in industrial
engineering, and system optimization techniques.
Through this internship, I aim to refine my analytical and technical skills while gaining exposure
to real-world industrial challenges. I am confident that this experience will prepare me for my
future career as a systems engineer, where I hope to develop innovative solutions that improve
efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize industrial processes.
I look forward to the opportunity to contribute to NUS’s research initiatives and collaborate with
experts in the field. This internship will be a valuable step toward achieving my long-term goal of
integrating data science, ergonomics, and industrial engineering to create sustainable and
efficient systems.
