Adding & Subtracting Unlike Fractions
❖ Fractions with different denominators cannot be added or subtracted ​
from one another.
❖ In order to add or subtract fractions, both fractions must have the same ​
denominator.
Fractions with Similar Denominators
If the larger denominator is divisible by the smaller denominator, you only
need to change one fraction.

Find the Least Common Multiple (LCM) of each denominator, then use it
to create a common denominator.
