We discuss about making a

Very good! How do we make a

We can use phrases to begin our
stand.
Can you give an example?
In my own opinion, eating

still the wisest thing to do.

What statements are these, is it

Feeling and Emotions
Why do you say that the first
group of statements are opinions
and the second group are
emotions?
D. Discussing new
concepts and
practicing new skills
#1 (Pagtalakay ng
Bagong Konsepto at
Paglalahad ng Bagong
Kasanayan # 1)
Because the sentences in the
first group suggest something
based on their own opinion, and
the second group uses
exclamation points to show
strong feelings.
Exactly!
Last week you already discussed
making a stand which is also
related to our topic today.
Sentences that express opinions
show a person's feelings about an
idea or a situation. These
sentences can also be judgments
or predictions based on given
facts. During your previous
discussion, how do you start
writing sentences when making
an opinion? Can you give an
example of a phrase to start an
opinion?
I think that….
In my opinion……
I guess……
That’s correct!
When we state our opinions we
can start by saying these:
(shows a slide)
Please read.
I think that...
I guess that...
Maybe…
As far as I’m concerned…
I feel that…
Perhaps…
I would say…
To my mind…
Personally speaking…
Probably…
For example, I think that playing
volleyball is better than playing
online games.
Can you give examples of
opinions using one of these
phrases?
I think that it is better to use
books than cellphone.
That’s right. In your sentence, you
used the phrase I think that…
What else?
I feel that it is not good to go out
this afternoon.
Awesome. You used the phrase I
feel that…
Aside from the given examples of
phrases to begin with your
opinions, you can also use other
phrases such as:
In my opinion…
I believe that…
From my point of view…
If you ask me…
I take the view that…
For example, In my opinion, you
should start studying now before
the 3rd quarter exam week
begins.
Can you give other examples?
If you ask me, I would like to
watch the movie Inside Out.
On his given example what did he
suggested?
To watch the Inside Out movie.
Correct! Does it express an
opinion? Why?
Yes, teacher, because she
expresses his desired movie to
watch.
Can you give another example?
I believe that taking a nap every
afternoon gives more energy for
the rest of the day.
What does she believe?
She believed that taking a nap
gives you more energy.
That’s right. Does the sentence
show an opinion? Why?
Yes, because she expresses what
she believes about taking a nap.
E. Discussing new
concepts and
practicing new skills
#2
(Pagtalakay ng bagong
konsepto at paglalahad
ng bagong kasanayan
#2)
Very good!
You can use any of these phrases
when starting an opinion.
What about when we show our
feeling, what do we use most of
the time when expressing strong
feelings based on the given
example a while ago?
Using exclamation point.
Very good! Sentences that are
used to express strong feelings or
emotions usually ends with an
exclamation point(!).
How do you write an exclamation
point? Write it in the air.
(Pupils write exclamation point
in the air)
Perfect!
When you feel ecstatic,
frightened, amazed, hurt,
worried, excited, or surprise you
can use these particular
sentences.
Can you give an example of a
sentence that expresses feelings
or emotions?
I feel so happy today!
Very good.
What emotion does it show?
Feeling happy.
That’s right.
What about being hurt, can you
give an example of a sentence?
Ouch! My leg was broken.
Exactly!
When we are expressing our
feelings and emotions, we can
also use the period(.) For
example, “I’m sad today, I didn’t
get the chocolate I want.”
Can you give another example?
I am worried about my exam
result, I didn’t study yesterday.
What feeling is shown in the
given example?
Feeling worried.
Very good!
Do you understand how will you
express your opinions and
emotions?
Yes, teacher.

persons in a group, and share
your opinion about an issue that I
will give. Write your names and
your opinion in a ½ sheet of
paper.
Remember to begin your
statements with the suggested
expressions.
Do you understand class?
Yes, teacher.
Issue:
Smartphones are now a
necessity, not anymore a luxury.
(The pupils start doing their
activity)
Are you done?
Yes, teacher.
Can you share your opinion about
the issue?
I believe that smartphones are
now a necessity because we use
them in communication and
other transactions.
You have a point. We use
smartphones to contact our loved
ones, and we also use them to
transfer files, money, etc.
What about an opinion that
disagrees with it?
I think smartphones are a luxury
because it does not belong to
our basic needs.
You also have a point, especially if
you buy phones that are very
expensive and you keep updating
your phone even if you still have
one, then that could be called a
luxury.
G. Finding practical
applications of
concepts and skills in
daily living
(Paglalapat ng aralin sa
Why do you think it is important
that we express our opinions and
feelings?
pang-araw-araw na
buhay)
Very good!
It is important that we share our
opinions to others and show our
emotions so that we can learn to
express ourselves.
Learning to express oneself is a
good practice to do.
What else?
That’s right! Letting others know
our side will help to clarify things
and maybe convince someone.
What else?
H. Making
generalizations and
abstractions about
the lesson (Paglalahat
