Guidelines to attempt CIE Islamiat Paper

Paper 1:
1. Passages from Quran:

Part a and Part b should be from 8 to 10 lines.
Start Part a with the theme of the passage.
Add a verse in either of the two parts.
Do not paraphrase the passage rather elaborate the passage in a comprehensive way.
Avoid repetition in both parts.
In part b, must write two-lined lesson in the end.
2. History and Importance of Quran:
Rule no.1; read the question three times, understand the question.

In part a, start your answer with few lined Introduction, then elaborate your answer in
proper sequence with reference verses or ahadith.
In questions related to sources of law, answer the question with an example of each
source.
In part b, start with one lined definition especially in technical questions like Ijma, Qiyas.
Add relevant verse or hadith or example if needed. Carefully answer the question with
four valid reasons. (These questions are normally based on WHY and HOW)
3. Life in Makkah and Madina:
Rule no.1; read the question three times and carefully, always follow the question and avoid
irrelevance.

Life in Makkah is all narrative, in part a, start the question with few lined Introduction,
answer the question with proper sequence including dates, names of key figures and
related verses, sayings of Prophet (P.B.U.H) or companions where needed. End your
answer according to the question.
Life in Madina is all narrative, in case of battles, start your answer with introduction,
causes, elaborate the event in proper sequence, dates, names of key figures and related
verses and end your answer with conclusion.
In part b, carefully answer the question with four valid reasons. Add relevant verse or
hadith or example if needed. (These questions are normally based on WHY and HOW)
4. First Islamic Community:
Rule no.1; read the question three times and carefully.

These questions are normally based on biographies of wives, descendants, ten blessed
companions, scribes and other important personalities.
In part a, start your answer with Introduction including date of birth, titles etc., and must
add services to Islam with dates (in Prophet’s (P.B.U.H) lifetime and after), add sayings
of Prophet (P.B.U.H) if necessary and end your answer with date of death.
Part b is normally based on lessons for present Muslims (men and women), answer your
question with an example.
Paper 2:
1. Teachings of Ahadith:

Add a verse or hadith in part a.
Do not paraphrase the hadith rather elaborate the hadith in a comprehensive way, cover
all the aspects of hadith.
Avoid repetition in both parts.
In part b, explain the hadith with an example either from the life of Prophet (P.B.U.H),
companions or from everyday life.

In part b, start with one lined definition especially in technical questions like Musnad and
Musannaf. Add relevant verse or hadith or example if needed. Answer the question
carefully with four valid reasons.
