ESL is one of the biggest companies that are involved in the trade and economic development of the
country. But the environmental regulations which have been put in place to address issues of pollution
and sustainability are also known to have financial effects on the company. This research therefore
seeks to determine the effect that environmental regulations have on the financial performance of ESL.

Research Hypothesis:
Hypothesis: Environmental regulations have a considerable effect on the financial results of the
Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics company (ESL). More specifically, following these regulations implies
the rise of costs for the operation but offers the long-term financial returns through the increase of
efficiency and sustainability.
Methodology:

- Primary Data: Administer questionnaires and conduct interviews with the management of ESL, and
other stakeholders in the industry.
- Secondary Data: Obtain the financial statements, the compliance documents and any other industry
related materials.
