Based on your activity, what is a Cause?
 Cause is why something happen.
When do we say that it’s the cause in the sentence?

 Answer the question why did the event happen?
What is an Effect?



Effect is the result of what happen.
It answers the question what?
For Example:
The boy was grounded because he did not clean the house.
In this example, why did the event happen?
 The boy did not clean the house.
Very Good! That is the cause. What is the result of what happen?
 The boy was grounded
That right! That is the effect.
The underlined word “because” is the example of grammatical signal,It will
help you to identify the two parts of cause and effect pattern development.
Example:
Ben work hard on his project and got a great grade.
 The cause is Ben work hard on his project.
 The effect is he got a great answer.
To determine the cause, you can ask yourself what happened first.
What do you think is the cause in this sentence?
And to determine the effect, ask yourself what happen second or why did it
happen?
