When I think as far back as possible to my first gaming experiences, a few games come to
mind. The first thing I think of is Tarzan or Monster’s Inc. Scream Team, both for the PS1.
Granted, all I really remember from these is jumping around like an idiot and never really getting
past the first levels, after all I was just too young to really understand what was going on and my
playtime was limited since I was sharing access to the console (or more like butting heads with
my brother, but that’s a different topic).
But one game really sticks out among all, that one being Kingdom Hearts II. I remember going
to the mall with my dad and seeing this game on the wall, my eye being obviously caught by
Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy all being plastered on the front cover. Being a little kid,
that was enough to sell me on the game, and the next 20 minutes was me begging my dad to
buy me a game that, if my track record was anything to go by, would get put away after a week
of playing. Needless to say, the guy caved in against his better judgement. Little did he know he
would be feeding into the next 15 years of autistic obsession with these silly little Disney
characters for me.
This series has a LOT of negative connotations tied to it on the internet from people looking
from the outside in, and if I’m honest with you some of them are valid. The things you hear most
often are that the story/plot is WAY too convoluted, or that the game is ‘just for kids’. I’m here to
tell you that while it may LOOK like that, the franchise originates from a time when development
philosophy was different. With there being thirteen total games in the franchise, the best
comparison I can give in respect to this would be a long-standing anime series, something to
the likes of the FATE series. And you may not believe me now, but this series is FILLED with
scenes that will really tug at your heartstrings.
But I’m not here to convince you to play these games (though you really should). In fact I’m not
even here to talk about every single entry in the series, that would take WAY too long and at the
end of the day I’m only making this video because I lost a bet to a couple friends of mine. Today
I want to really go in depth on the second entry of the franchise, which is in my opinion the
BEST one in the franchise and my favorite game of all time, Kingdom Hearts II. Though to do
this correctly, I am unfortunately forced to give a government mandated lore dump on Kingdom
Hearts I and Chain of Memories, two entries that set up KH II in its entirety and make creating
this video a lot easier.
So, here’s the gameplan for us, we’re gonna talk about Kingdom Hearts I and I’ll also point out
certain things that I find interesting or particularly important for the plotline, then we’ll give the
same treatment to Chain of Memories, and we’ll wrap it up with a very in depth look into
Kingdom Hearts II. Without further ado, this is THE Kingdom Hearts Retrospective of ALL time

Pretty simple, the only necessary point to make is to point out certain things that will
matter in the next game, like xemnas being the superboss and stuff.
