CSWA Exam Prep Course: ASME Information Sheet

advertisement
What is the CSWA?
● The CSWA is the Certified SolidWorks Associate exam provided by SolidWorks
themselves.
What is ASME's CSWA class?
● Every semester, ASME offer 8 guided lessons occurring over the next 8 weeks
(excluding Spring Break).
● The course begins on Thursday Jan 30th and classes are on Thursdays at 7PM - 9PM
in person.
● We cover all necessary material and assume little to no prior knowledge or CAD
experience.
● Each week, we'll introduce new concepts and challenge you to apply them with custom
practice questions.
● Our instructors passed their own CSWA and will be available for 1-on-1
troubleshooting whenever you encounter a roadblock.
What's the cost?
● The course costs $40. The standalone exam key costs $100. With ASME, you're getting
a 60% discount and a free step-by-step class!
● Payments are made through the university ASME donation page, but more info will be
provided on completion of the sign up form.
● Payments are strictly due before the course begins on Sunday 1/26.
Why should you take the CSWA at all?
● For one, it's a great resume builder. The companies we work with attest they when hiring
co-ops or full time roles they prefer candidates with a CSWA over ones without.
● CAD is a staple skill of any mechanical engineer, gaining a good background in
SolidWorks is one way to build your technical skill set.
What else to know?
● If you don't make it in this semester, don't worry! This course is offered every semester.
● Can grad students join? --> No, this is one of the events that are strictly
undergraduate students only.
● Can non-mechanical engineering students join? --> Yes and no. We need to prioritize
mechanical engineering students, but if there's still room by Tuesday 1/21, we'll push
the form out to other undergraduate engineering majors like BioE, IE, EE, ChemE,
and CivE.
