2. MESSAGE FUNCTION
2.1 To update the inhouse system of the airline (or cargo terminal operator) with details of Customs
determination.
2.2 Where appropriate, to update the system of the airline (or cargo terminal operator) with details of
action taken by other Government agencies.
2.3 To notify the airline (or cargo terminal operator) of shipments required for examination or
released for delivery.
3. MESSAGE APPLICATION
Computer-to-Computer.
4. MESSAGE EXCHANGE PARTIES
From: the access address of the Cargo Control Computer of Customs and/or other
Government agencies.
To:
the access address of the Cargo Control Computer of the airline (or other
party who is acting for the airline) and/or other Interested Parties, e.g. broker,
Community System.
5. MESSAGE USE
5.1 When the Customs system initiates (or is updated with details of) action effecting the Customs
status of a particular shipment a CSN message will be sent to the airline (or the cargo terminal
operator).
5.2 When a Government Agency places or releases a “hold” on a particular shipment that Agency (in
cooperation with Customs) will make the necessary input to trigger a “hold” or “release hold”
message to the airline (or the cargo terminal operator).
