Types of Mutations:
• Point Mutations
• Silent – changes a nucleotide but the amino acid
doesn’t change
• Missense – changes a nucleotide and the amino acid
changes.
• Nonsense – changes a nucleotide and the codon calls
for STOP.
• Frameshift Mutations- mutations that alter the reading
frame.
• Insertions – the addition of a base
• Deletions – the removal of a base.
