Primary Objectives: Is to train and develop highly qualified, and skilled health workforce (nurse) capable of meeting the health
demand and needs in the country.
Job Summary: The Director of Nursing School at Tuna Bay will oversee all academic, administrative, and operational aspects
of the institution, ensuring the training and development of a highly qualified and skilled health workforce to meet the nation’s
healthcare demands. This leadership role involves curriculum development, faculty management, student success, and
compliance with national and international nursing education standards.
Purpose
Responsible for preparing and teaching students, assessing and reviewing own teaching and ensuring new tutors prepare and
teach accordingly to the standard of teaching.
Accountability
 Ensure implementation of the General Nurse Curriculum
 Ensure students gain competence academically and through practicum experience.

Ensure students are taught, assessed and supervised properly with academic and practical documentation in place.

Provides inventory of teaching and learning materials and resources
 Reports to the Director issues related to the implementation of the General Nurse program and other delegated
responsibilities
MAJOR DUTIES
 Leadership and Management:
o Provide strategic leadership for the school’s programs, aligning objectives with national healthcare goals
o Develop and implement policies to ensure academic excellence and institutional growth.
o Oversee the day-to-day operations, ensuring the smooth functioning of academic and administrative activities.
 Administrative Responsibilities
o Responsible oversees strategic leadership, resource management, faculty development, student well-being,
collaboration, compliance, and innovation
o Conduct annual evaluations of faculty and staff performance. And provide recommendation regarding faculty
reappointment, tenure and promotion
o Handle budgets related to operating, personnel, and other accounts. Ensure efficient financial utilization within the
Institution
Reporting and Work Relationship (Internal)
 Collaboration with Leadership
Engage with the Director to identify and address concerns related to theory instructions and clinical placements. Contribute to strategic
discussions on improving academic and practicum outcome.
 Academic Oversight and Reporting
Report to the Academic Board on student performance, encompassing both theoretical knowledge and practical competencies.
Provide data – driven insights and recommendations to support informed decision – making.
 Team Collaboration
Work in partnership with the Director and TBSON Staff to exchange ideas and information on curriculum development and
training methodologies.
Foster a cooperative environment to ensure alignment in educational strategies and institutional goals.

Liaise with higher education institutions, health sector and other partner agencies regarding teaching and learning resources

6. Position and Person Specifications
 Qualifications:
Possess a tertiary qualification at a degree level in the field of education, preferably with a specialization in Health Nursing.
Demonstrated administrative capabilities.
 Knowledge:
Sound knowledge of current developments in education and curriculum design.
Familiarity with managing a training institution an implementing effective administrative practice.
Comprehensive understanding of public management systems, health care delivery system, and health sector framework.
Knowledge of Public Service General Orders, Higher Education policies, and government reforms.
 Skills:
Proficiency in teaching, assessing students, and reviewing teaching methodologies.
Ability to provide counselling to students and effectively manage student affairs.
Administrative expertise, including budget preparation and resource allocation.
Strong capability in managing and supervising laboratory sessions, including practical demonstrations
 Work Experience
Extensive experience in a similar role, particularly in training and educational administration.
Proven experience in curriculum development, including its monitoring and evaluation.
Expertise in preparing budgets and managing institutional resources effectively.
Experience conducting needs assessments, planning, and providing training and development for staff and subordinates.
