 Facilitative Interaction among members.
Is there frequent
communication among all
members?
Do conflicts get resolved?
Are relationships supportive?
Are love and caring shown among
members?
4
Methyl: to be honest we do talk
with each other but not always,
maybe in each weekend or in
occasions due to concerns of
life, but we are strongly care for
each other.
Dunia: many conflicts occur
with us as a family, but we
solve it by sitting all together
and discuss about the issue, I
try my best as a mother to
understand each family
members point of view.
Methyl: We always support each other,
no matter what happens between us, so
we feel as if we are a refuge for each
other, for example recently my
grandmother passed away may Allah
grant her Jannah, so we supported our
mother by booking for her ticket to
Umrah. and my brother don’t work
anymore now, but my dad is trying to
support him finically.
Methyl: everyone shows love and care
for each other, but in nonverbal way
Sometimes my brothers and I feel like
we are against each other, but in general
we show respect and care.
Do members work collaboratively?
Dunia: My husband is the one who is
financially responsible, but it still isn't
enough for us because university fees is
too expensive. As a mother, I handle
most of the housework, but they do
assist me on weekends.
 Enhancement of individual development
Does family respond appropriately to Methyl: We all try to accommodate
members developmental needs?
each other's age-related needs. For
instance, my mother needed emotional
support after the death of my
grandmother because she experienced
severe depressive episodes. She is also
diabetic, obese, and have osteopenia, so
we all try to care for her physically and
mentally by encouraging her to talk
about her feelings, making sure she eats
well, and making sure she is never left
alone. Also, after my dad’s heart attack
we are trying our best to keeping him
away any stress and taking care of his
diet.
Does it tolerate disagreement?
Methyl: I believe that despite our
debates, we tolerate one another's
differences and accept one another in
the end.
Does it accept members as they are? Methyl: To be honest, not so much if
5
I'm talking about myself, I do suffer
from obesity as a result of my intense
study schedule and unhealthy lifestyle
choices, which lead to constant bullying
from my brothers. Although I am
attempting to lose weight, but I don't
know why I'm not seeing results.
Does it promote member autonomy?
Methyl: I think that everyone in my
family has a distinct level of autonomy.
I can say that my brothers and I have
more autonomy than my younger
brother Mohmmad, who needs more
supervision from my mother, specially
that he doesn’t focus on his studies and
need supervision for that.
 Effective Structuring of Relationships.
Is decision making allocated to
appropriate members?
Do member roles meet family needs?
Are controls appropriate for family
stage of development?
6
Dunia: In fact, most decision-making
at home is done by my husband and I,
but we support our older sons and
daughters in their decisions and advise
them when they need it.
Nasar: Yes, all family members
play an important role in
supporting the family and working
together to meet its needs.
Mizar: In some ways, our family
controls are in line with where we are
in our development stage, but other
times, we worry that they are out of
step with our needs as adults.
 Active Coping Effort.
Is family aware when there is a need
for change?
Is it receptive to new ideas?
Does it actively seek resources?
Does it make good use of resources?
7
Mizar: Although my family members
are aware of all the things that need to
change throughout time, some of
them, like my father, are more
attached to way life was in the past.
Methyl: Yes, maybe my family
accepts any new ideas that has positive
impact on us
Methyl: Personally, I always advise
my family to seek out trustworthy
sources if they are unsure of
something rather than acting without
knowledge. For instance, we make
sure that my mother gets health
information from the doctor rather
than WhatsApp, and we motivate my
father to get regular checkups since he
had a heart surgery before
Nasar: Sincerely speaking, I try to take
use of or find these resources through
professionals who assist me without
charge. I mean, I pay attention to what
my daughter has to say, but I may run
into financial challenges while using
them.
Healthy Environment and Lifestyle.
Is family lifestyle health promoting?
Are living conditions safe and
hygienic?
Is emotional climate conducive to
good health?
Do members practice good health
measures?
According to Dunia talks she says in
or family we prefer more traditional
meals that’s full of fat and salt but due
to my health condition I’m trying to
eat more healthier and bringing some
healthy eating habits in our meals
since I’m responsible about cooking.
They live in a very clean, healthy
atmosphere, and their home is ideally
suited for maintaining both a clean,
healthy environment and good
personal hygiene, the area that they are
living are safe for families
From my perspective, their emotional
climate is unstable during this time
due to debts, their financial condition,
and most significantly, the mother's
psychological health and her onset of
depression. In addition to her daughter
worriedness to her weight gaining, and
sons unworking
They are attempting to cut back on salt
and fat in meals, among other things,
but I believe Mythel needs a
professional guidance to shed some
pounds.
 Regular Links with Broader Community.
Is family involved regularly in the
8
Mazier: We like to communicate
community?
Is it aware of external affairs?
Does it attempt to understand
external issues?
9
effectively with the community.
For example, I participate a lot in
activities and hold courses related to my
specialist “chemistry”, in addition my
brother and I play football regularly, so
we get chance to involve with society
also my sister and My mother also loves
to go out and meet their friends, and
neighbors unlike this period, but we are
trying to bring her back to what it was.
Yes, the family is well educated about
world affairs and keeps up with them
through communication and news
sources as well as through society and
friends.
Methyl: My family always attempts to
track and comprehend international
issues so that we can express our
opinions on these matters.
1-Conceptual framework
 Interactional framework
How the family interacts
with each other daily
 How the family cope with
the life stressors
 What is the process of
decisions-making in the
family?
The family communicates
effectively but not in a daily basis
and gets together at the end of the
weekend.
When there are stressors, the
family helps each other out.
For example, despite the family's
difficult circumstances, including
their mother's sadness and the
death of their grandmother, they
support and care for each other
during this time.
I see that most decisions are taken
by the father and mother, but the
personal decisions are taken by the
family members with parent’s
guides.
2. Structural- functional framework

10
How the family interacts with the
external environment or the
society?
The family is very social, and it has
great relationships with both its
immediate environment and with other
societies and cultures. The family
enjoys immersing themselves in other
cultures to learn about them.
3. Developmental framework

11
What are the systematic
There are many changes that this
family went through, such as losing
changes experienced by family
some of their relatives and sudden
as they move through their life changes in their standard of living,
health changes that the mother and
course?
father is going through, in addition
to their daughter suffering from
obesity and body image, lack of
health insurance that covers father
parodic checkup. In addition, the
family was exposed to sudden
unexpected loss of their son’s job.

Yemeni
Religious: Muslim family.
Family member: Father, Mother,
3sons, and 1daughter
Ages: from 14-54Y
Family lives in an apartment in
Ajman.
As a religious family, they support
one another in maintaining the prayer
times, and the mother memorizes the
Quran with her friends at zoom
meetings.
The father and Mazan are in charge
of providing for the family's expenses
and needs, while the mother is in
charge of the house, and the younger
daughter helps her mother with
housework on weekends due to
studying during the week.
The family's function is to provide
material and moral support to one
another, as well as emotional support
when needed.
The family believes in and adheres to

the values and principles of its
Islamic religion, and this image is
reflected in their daily activities.
Even if it is not on a daily basis, the
family communicates effectively with
each other, discusses all matters
concerning it, and even interacts well
with society.
The decision-making process is
discussed among them, but matters
concerning the family are always
taken by the parents, when it comes
to their sons, they are there to support
and guide them.
After some time has passed, the
opposing parties meet, and the
problem that occurred is discussed
and resolved.
The family copes with all of the
events that occur in their lives by
being patient and supportive of each
other, Accepting the difficult as a
challenge and adapting to it, for
example. They support each other
financially and morally without
giving up or becoming dissatisfied
with support.
11.Family health behavior
12.Family social and cultural
14
The family tries to practice healthy
behaviors; the mother "Dunia" is
attempting to introduce new healthy
habits to her family by limiting foods
high in salt, sugar, and fat; in
addition, Methyl is attempting to
adopt healthier lifestyle habits but
needs support.
Because the father and mother are
Yemenis, this family incorporates
traditions from both Yemeni and
UAE societies. However, because
they were born and raised in the
UAE, we can see that both of them
preserve their traditions, and the
traditions of both societies are
reflected in their daughters and sons,
in addition to the fact that the entire
family is social and open to other
cultures.
