Being a student at Kean University, I find it essential to do research and set up plans to
make the best of my opportunity. Before transferring, I initially planned to continue my
studies at New York University (NYU). However, I had to set that dream aside due to my
family's financial problems. Although faced with setbacks and disappointment, I resolved
to gain as much experience as available at Kean while working towards pursuing an
MBA degree at NYU in the future. This educational plan helps me save money
compared to going to NYU as an undergraduate. It also encourages me to work and do
well academically.
However, as a transfer student, I realized Montclair University would have accepted all
my credits (60 credits earned in CC) while Kean only admitted 48 credits; which was
disheartening. Apart from the credit evaluation issue, I faced a vaccination issue, which
withheld my course registration. The problem led to the failure in choosing the desired
courses because, by the time I completed the process, the seats were fully occupied.
Despite the challenges, my student advisor helped me throughout the process until
everything got sorted. From there, I learned the importance of taking measures for
possible future issues even before starting something.
In conclusion, having a plan for an academic career and anticipating future problems is
important in keeping me on track and ensuring that I maximize my experiences at Kean
University and strive towards my goals despite the problems and challenges.
