Week 3 Assignment: Informative Speech Outline
Produce an outline for your Informative speech using the flowing example. Please make sure you have considered
the type of organizational pattern you will follow before you plan your outline. These are covered in the resources
provided. You may have more than 3 main points this is simply an example to get you started but be cautious not
to have excessive points as this will overload your listener. Please remember your time limit of 8-10 minutes. This
outline only needs to be point form. You do not need to write in complete sentences unless you find that more
helpful for your planning. This outline is worth 10% of your grade for the term.

Attention getter (get your audience interested)
Touch on how having high greenhouse gas emission will impact peoples lives.

Background and/or relevance to audience (this does not need to be long and detailed,
just make the connection for them)
Speak about how as the Canadian government focuses more on their emissions that it
will affect how the Canadian coast guard does things and how it will impact our jobs (
Will keep very short)

Statement of purpose (what is the point/relevance of your topic or goal of your paper,
you could use your thesis here)
As one of the number highest emitters of greenhouse gas emissions the marine
industry must take measures to reduce their impact on climate change.

