Reflection Paper
My experience in LASARE2 gave me insights into self-perception and self-acceptance
and how these are harnessed through my relationship with God. The activities, such as the
stepping stones, made me reflect and appreciate how different people in my life have made me
into who I am. Additionally, the impactful video of God's love letter truly resonated with me. It
was an emotional reminder of the depth of God's care for all His creations. As I absorbed the
heartfelt words, I felt enveloped in warmth and affection, reinforcing my understanding of
divine love. During our breakout sessions, the insights shared by my groupmates were equally
eye-opening. They spoke openly about how the promise of hope embedded in God's message
instilled them with assurance and courage. This collective sharing made me reflect on the
powerful nature of God's affirmations; it became clear to me that living by His words bestows a
meaningful purpose in our lives. This realization fills me with confidence, reminding me that
my existence on this earth is indeed valuable and purposeful.
I believe that God’s message during the prayer exercise is primarily about His undying
love for us. The video portrayed God as a loving parent to His creations, serving as a strong
reminder that He is our Creator and that our existence on this Earth has been planned by Him
from the very beginning. It emphasizes the significance of God in our lives and how the
blessings we receive come from Him. Furthermore, it illustrates how our faith in Him can lead
to positive outcomes, such as finding a strong sense of purpose and mission in life. Our faith
inspires us to strive for goodness since we are created in His image, and we understand that this
path will lead to fulfillment. Through God, we learn compassion, kindness, and understanding
because we receive these qualities from Him as well. One phrase from the video that deeply
resonated with me was, “You are fearfully and wonderfully made” - Psalm 139. This statement
boosts my self-confidence about my purpose in this world, reminding me that God took His
time to create each of us individually, and we all have the potential to make a meaningful
impact.
As a Lasallian, embracing the core values of the Spirit of Faith, Zeal for Service, and
Communion in Mission profoundly enriches my relationship with God. By immersing myself in
His teachings and keeping His words close to my heart, I cultivate a deeper sense of purpose in
my daily life, which, in turn, solidifies my faith in Him. Additionally, I can practice my zeal for
service by actively engaging in volunteering for causes that resonate with my passions which
deepen my commitment to these values and guide me along a path illuminated by God’s love
and grace.
Moreover, collaborating with others in the pursuit of goodness fosters a sense of
community that I deeply value. Building lifelong friendships through shared missions creates a
supportive environment, enriching the lives of both myself and my loved ones. This
interconnectedness nurtures a healthy, vibrant community where we can all thrive. Beyond
these actions, I find strength in regularly reflecting on the positive influence that God’s
teachings have had on my life. The profound impact of my friends and family from the Catholic
community serves as a continual reminder of the values they have instilled in me, shaping me
into the person I aspire to be today. Each of these experiences contributes to a rich tapestry of
faith, purpose, and community that greatly enriches my faith in God.
