Personal Essay for High School
Summer Research Internship
Picture a young leader standing at the edge of possibility, inspired by the dreams of a better
world. That leader is me. My name is Yug Aswani. I am a workaholic high schooler from
India who dreams of building a career in data science. I feel encouraged by the mission of
the University of Utah as it seeks to nurture an innovator and an engineer who is in a
position to make a difference. The College of Engineering’s approach towards carrying out
interdisciplinary projects and applying active participation in research fits my goal of being a
data scientist who will extract insights from data to help organizations make better decisions.
Through this internship, I would like to give back to the university while learning great things
that would be useful to my life in the future.
From an early age, technology and engineering have captivated me as a student and
interested me in how they can solve many problems I am genuinely inspired by the Price
College of Engineering's steadfast commitment to scientific advancement. This commitment
not only fosters innovation but also contributes significantly to my interests. One of the key
reasons for my application to this internship is the fact that this institution has has produced
over 30,000 engineers. What intrigues me about this school is its storied history of being
home to many influential figures in a variety of disciplines (one for example, aka the father of
computer graphics Ivan Sutherland). This legacy of innovation inspires me and reinforces
the college's exceptional reputation.
I've always been a dedicated worker, great at solving various problems, and have a team
approach so I know I will fit in well with the internship program and the College of
Engineering. I've previously taken part in several coding contests and even secured spots in
numerous. I have been clear about my future since my middle school years and I have been
working on it since then. My capacity to think logically and adjust to team dynamics is, I
believe, my strongest suit. In the future, I intend to get a bachelor's and master's degree in
data science at The John and Marcia Price College of Engineering.

Second Para- What kind of educational impact do you hope to receive from this internship?
You start with describing the program saying its research and why you are interested in
research what topics and how the topics research done at engineering college aligns with
you and WHY are you interested in it and then say this comment I mentioned above move
that to second para- how this research would impact you for example expand your skills,
give you more knowledge, headstart in career and explore new topics , a great way to start
university, etc.
Thisrd Para- How do you envision yourself contributing to the College of Engineering while in
this program and in the future? Here talk about your skills and experience- and talk about
applying to u of u for bachelors and masters and puring a career in research eventually if
found interesting.
