b. Deeper meaning: Chaser is a term to mean a drink taken after another
drink. So, for instance if you take medicine, you might chase it with
something else to get rid of the taste
c. The idea of a chaser is because the old man knows that Alan will return for
another mixture perhaps a poison after he realizes what it is truly like to
have someone be completely and utterly obsessed with him.

c. Infer: If you have money, you don’t need a love potion because women
love a man with money
d. Infer: Alan may think that this is love but he may no longer like Diana when
she starts acting so obsessive
8. Being able to infer or read between the lines is very important to this s tory
particularly when it comes to understanding the conclusion.
a. IF the reader doesn’t infer throughout the plot, they may not understand
that the reason the love potion is so cheap is that it is likely he will have to
return for the life cleaner at a later date.
