Article Writing: A trip To MagnifiScience Centre Excursion trips provide numerous educational benefits, which is why Generation's schools regularly organise excursions for Generians. This time, Generation’s School's South Campus planned an excursion trip to the "TDF MagnifiScience Centre" during the second week of September. The excursion day was undoubtedly spent with great amusement by the students of VII. On September 14th, 2022, the big day had finally arrived after a long wait! The crisp September morning was alive with anticipation as all students waited in line to board the buses. It was the day of the much-anticipated field trip. The students' enthusiasm was contagious as they embarked on their trip with their teachers. The MagnifiScience Centre, located in the country's financial hub, is spread across four floors, showcasing distinct scientific themes and concepts. The entrance was regal. A royal yet simple chandelier surrounded by a colonial-era balcony of the gatehouse welcomed the young scientists as they entered the MSC. We were welcomed by the Centre’s team and taken to explore the various activities at the learning center. Students were permitted to discover the wonders of science and technology through hands-on activities, exhibits, and ventures. A wetland mangrove ecosystem installed in the central atrium of the centre provided us with an opportunity to understand the economic importance of mangroves and the food chain that exists within their thick undergrowth. Next, we were taken to the "World Within Us," where we learned about the marvel that is the human body, followed by the Mirror Maze and the Light Room, where we were fascinated by optical illusions and the power of light. We were then allowed to explore the wonders of renewable energy, challenge our brains with puzzles involving the principles of mathematics, forces, and magnetism, as well as learn about communication technology. At the science garden, there’s a swing section, navigation maze, tree house, hamster wheel, obstacle course, and balance challenge. This space provided us with information on the indigenous flora and fauna. After a fun-filled day, we happily returned to school. The trip to the TDF Magnifiscience Center gave us wonderful play-integrated learning opportunities, as in the words of Alfred Mercier (an 18th-century poet): "What we learn with pleasure, we never forget."
