3.1
Safety
Caution : The EcoGuardianTMsystem must be operated by the authorized operator.
Caution : All documentsmust be read and understood prior to operation.
Danger : Do not touch electrical equipment with wet hands during operation.
(e.g. : PSE output cable, electrolyzer, inside panel)
3.2
Operating Instructions
This section contains step-by-step instructions for operating the EcoGuardianTM system.
Read carefully below for preparation, status and risk or warning precautions.
3.3
Preparation and Inspection condition
1) Use the EcoGuardian ™ system when operating a Valast Pump (or GS pump).
2) Check the power supply of all equipment and signal status of all sensors on the
EcoGuardian ™ system.
3) Check the remaining amount of the TRO sensor reagent and also check the date of the
last replacement. Refill or replace the TRO sensor reagent, if necessary. Also check that
the cooling fan in the reagent is working properly without running the EcoGuardian™
system
4) Check the valve location of the EcoGuardian™.
5) Check the alarm list and clear the last executed alarm.
6) Check the remaining amount of the neutralizer and the date of the last replacement
when deballasting. Refill or replace neutralizer if necessary.
7) Check the current date and time of the control system clock and reset if necessary.
(If it is a DGPS connection, it is automatically synchronized to GMT time.)
8) Prior to handling the system, be aware of all guidance for EcoGuardian™system.

Data logging
When the system is started, all data is automatically recorded for 24 months.
1) Location and duration of recording
The data is recorded in the SD card of HMI in MCP, RCP.
(If it is damaged, contact the HANLA IMS because it is set to
record only SD card that has been paid.)

Total capacity of SD card : 8GB

Capacity per file : 10 hour average 8~10MB

Expiration date : 24 months
※
After 24 months, please back up the existing 2 years
data.
2) How to view recorded files
① The date of data storage

Check the date of each folder modified(refer to Logging Data list)
② The name of data file
•
The logging file format is save as [SA+ month(maximum 24 months)+day(maximum 31
days) +operation times(0~9 times)]

Operation Level
Tap the [LOG IN] button for operation.
1) LEVEL0 :This level can operate without password. Operator is able to check current
status.
2) LEVEL1 : Must enter a password. Use only authorized user.
(BALLAST, DE-BALLAST, MAINTENANCEMODE can be run.)
3) LEVEL2 :Must enter a password. Use only authorized user.
(Can be operated emergency operation such as BY-PASS and OVERRIDE
including LEVEL1)
4) LEVEL3 :Only service engineer of EcoGuardianTM can operate.
(changesetting parameters.)
5) Enter the password for the ‘LOG IN’ level.

2) ② Tap〔LOG IN〕, change to LEVEL 1.
3) ③ Tap〔ON〕button, to activate the MAINTENANCE mode.
( ④ Tap〔OFF〕 to exit or cancel.)
4) ⑤Each component can be operated by manually.
(Tap the checkbox and then select〔OPEN/CLOSE〕)
5) ④ Tap〔OFF〕 button after completing the operation. MAINTENANCEmode is
disabled.
※CAUTION :Do not operate automatically during maintenance.

DESCRIPTION
☎ FM, Main line flow low & high / too low & too high
Low & High / Too low & Too high [Warning / Shutdown] :
☞ Measure the amount of water entering the ballast main.
◈The ballast pump capacity may be high or low.
◈The valve may be closed or faulty.
☼ Check the "Main valve (AFU inlet/ outlet)"for normal
operation.
☼ Check the pump flow rate.
☼ Make sure that the Ballast line valves are open correctly.
☎MV1x3, Main inlet valve not open
[Shutdown when AFU front valve is closed]
☞The valve is located at the ATU inlet.
(Full open takes more than 20 seconds)
◈Even if the valve is open, you may receive a feedback signal.
◈The feedback signal may not come from the valve.
◈The valve may be malfunctioning.
☼ Make sure that the valve is operating normally in
MAINTENANCE mode.
☼ During normal operation, check if the feedback signal is coming
from the SYSTEMSTATUS mode.
☎ MV1x1, Main outlet valve not open
[Shutdown when AFU rear valve is closed]
☞This is the control valve.
(Full open takes more than 20 seconds)
◈ Even if the valve is open, you may receive a feedback signal.
◈The feedback signal may not come from the valve.
◈The valve may be malfunctioning.
☼ Make sure that the valve is operating normally in
MAINTENANCE mode.
☼ During normal operation, check if the feedback signal is coming
from the SYSTEM STATUS mode.
☎ MV1x2, Main by-pass valve not close
☞This valve is used in De-ballast and By-pass mode.
☞ This is the control valve.
(Full open takes more than 20 seconds)
◈ Even if the valve is open, you may receive a feedback signal.
◈The feedback signal may not come from the valve.
◈The valve may be malfunctioning.
☼ Make sure that the valve is operating normally in
MAINTENANCE mode.

☞If foreign objects accumulate in the filter, the differential
pressure between inlet and outlet of the filter is increased.
◈It may not have been smooth filtering.
☼ Attempt to operate backflushing in order at MAINTENANCE mode.

☞Check that the backflush valve are operating normally.
☼ Check the pressure sensor.
☞In the operation stationary, check that the pressure in
PT2x1, PT2x2 is close to 0 bar, otherwise check for noise
and replace with a new one.
☼ If it does not resolve after check as above, disassemble the
housing and clean the element.
☎PT2x1, AFU Filter inlet pressure high / too high
High / Too high [Warning / Shutdown]
☞Refer to the pressure of the main line and check for safety.
◈The AFU rear end valves may not open properly.
◈The AFU pressure sensor may be malfunctioning.
☼Check the main line valves.
☼If the pressure in PT2x01, PT2x2 is abnormal even in the
operation stationary, replace sensor with a new one.
☎CS3x1, Conductivity low/ too low
Low / Too low [Warning / Shutdown]
☞Use a conductivity sensor to calculate the salinity of water.
☞The conductivity value is used as a variable for electrolysis.
◈The salinity of the water entering the electrolyzer is lower than
the set value.
◈CS3x1 is not working normally.
☼Check the conductivity value on the sensor or touch screen. If
the salinity is low, select the salt use during operation.(#option)
☼If the conductivity sensor is malfunctions,replace it new one.
☼If you would like to operate, select CS3x1 in OVERRIDE mode
and operate it.
☎TS3x1, Sea water temperature low / too low
Low / Too low [Warning / Shutdown]
☞The temperature of the water entering the electrolyzer has
affects to the electrolysis.
◈The temperature of the water entering the electrolyzer is too low.
◈TS3x1 is not working normally.
☼If the temperature of the water entering the electrolyzer is low,
operate the HEU(Option).
☼Check that the sensor is working properly by warm water. It will
be flowing out of the pipe by dismantle the pipe. If the sensor is
in trouble, please replace it.
☼If you would like to operate, select TS3x1 in OVERRIDE mode
and operate it.

☞The safety sensor and verifies that the electrolyzer is full pipe.
◈The pipe may be not full, because of electrolyzer pipe problem.
◈ FS3x1 may be disconnect of cable or faulty sensor.
☼ Check the inlet line of the electrolyzer.
☼ Unscrew FS3x1 and immerse it in water to check the on/off
signal in the touch screen at [SYSTEM STATUS].
☼ If there is a problem with the component, please replace it
with a new one.
☼ If you would like to operate, select FS3x1 in override mode
and operate it.
☎H2S3x1, Hydrogen Gas high / too high(in pipe)
High / Too high [Warning / Shutdown]
☞ Safety sensors to verify that hydrogen generated by
electrolysis is discharged below the reference value.
◈Rear valve of air blower may be closed.
◈The direction of rotation of the air blower may be reversed.
◈H2S3x1 sensor may not operate normally.
☼ Check rear valve for Air blower.
☼ Check the direction of rotation of motor is correct or not.
☼ If the H2S3x1 sensor does not operate correctly, replace it
with a new one.
☎H2D3x1, Hydrogen Gas high / too high(in pipe)
High/ Too high [Warning / Shutdown]
☞ A sensor that detects if the concentration is higher than a
reference value when there is hydrogen gas exposed to the outside.
◈There may be leaks in the ECU.
◈H2D3x1sensor may be malfunctioning.
☼ Check if there is leaking line.
☼ If the H2D3x1 sensor does not operate correctly, replace it
with a new one.

◈CWP (Cooling Water Pump) may not work properly.
◈Clear water temperature may be high.
◈TS7x1 sensor may not operate normally.
☼ Check whether the CWP is operating properly in the
MAINTENANCE mode.
☼ Check if the clear water is flowing in the pipe and the
temperature is normal.
☎PSE, Output over voltage
Output over voltage [Shutdown]
☞The Power Supply Equipment (PSE) is a device that provides
power for electrolysis by changing AC power to DC power.
◈The DC power supply voltage for PSE is output over 100 %.
☼ Check the output voltage of the PSE.
☼ Check the cables between PSE and electrolyzer.
If ok, turn the power off and on again after 2 minutes.
☎PSE, Output over current [Shutdown]
☞The PSE(Power Supply Equipment) is a device that powers for
electrolysis by changing AC power to DC power.
◈The DC power supply current of PSE is output over 100 %.
☼ Check the output voltage of PSE.
☼ Check the cables between PSE and electrolyzer.
If ok, operate the system again.
If problem is occurred, please call at HANLA IMS.
☎PS4x1, Neutralizer Injection line pressure high [Warning]
☞A sensor to check whether NEU line pressure is normal.
◈NEU rear valve and line may be blocked.
◈PS4x1 pressure switch may be malfunctioning.
☼ Check the NEU Line.
☼ If PS4x1 is ON even In the operation stationarywith no pressure,
change the sensor.

☞The TRO(Total residual Oxidant) concentration of processed
ballast water shall be maintained at a preset value.
◈The TRO concentration of processed ballast water is lower than
the reference value.
◈The TRO concentration of processed ballast water is higher than
the reference value.
◈This may be a false feedback signal.
☼ Check the TRO suction line and valve.
☼ Check that the flow rate from the main Ballast line to the TRO
sensor is normal.
☼ Check the CLX sensor is normal.
☼ Check the TFP(TRO Feed Pump) is normal.
☎ TRO, Communication abnormal [Shutdown]
☞ The TRO(Total Residual Oxidant) concentration of
processed ballast water shall be maintained at a preset value.
◈ The power(220V) is not supplied.
◈ The control air is not supplied.(only EX-type)
◈ This may be a false feedback signal.
☼ Check the lamp(green) on the TRO sensor.
