Generosity with constraints So it starts with me buying things from public establishments like 7/11 or fast food restaurants. When I leave the place, there is always a beggar that asks for change. If I give them change then it would make me feel satisfied and would silence the compassion to help the poor in me. But the result is that I only chose to give those beggar who actually opens the doors, assist in parking, and the disabled ones. I also think of virtue as doing the right thing, at the right time, in the right way, in the right amount, toward the right people. This is where my dilemma starts, after contemplating, I always give money for donations to the people who deserves it and would make better use of it like the church, which I know would be used to help the church itself and help in the donations to the needy. So this is an application Virtue ethics because I want to be generous to the people in need. I do not want to be generous to the point where I am actually causing those beggars to rely on others and their donations. Being virtuous or specifically generous should have its extent so that it could not give birth to negative traits like laziness. Which is why my generosity would mostly go to the group whom would benefit the most.
