Hello! Could you please forward the attached message to my admissions representative? Thank you! Dear UW Madison’s Admissions Office, I hope that the new year has been off to a great start for you! I submitted my UW Madison application in the EA round and I recently received my application result of a deferral. Because of this, I would like to restate my interest in the university. Before the EA decisions and after, UW Madison remains my number one choice. I have a lot of exciting in and outside of the classroom updates that have occurred since my application submission that I would like to share with you. At Bangkok Patana School, I devoted myself to rigorous preparation for the trial exams across all subjects, even leading study groups for my peers. I am thrilled to report that my efforts have yielded the outcomes I aimed for. My dedication has resulted in an improvement to a level 6 in chemistry and a level 7 in economics. I proudly lead the Boy’s Varsity Basketball Team as its captain. I cherish my role as a chance to cultivate my leadership skills to set me up for real-world situations. As we approach February’s overseas tournament, I have been committed to developing the team’s discipline and bond, nurturing a collective hunger for victory in what marks my final season. To unwind, I enjoy indulging in chess games with my friends — a pastime that not only entertains but also hones my cognitive prowess. During class breaks, I challenge my peers in the senior lounge. During winter break, I had the chance to reconnect with my extended family, especially my cousins who had flown back to Thailand. Our shared experiences in dining, shopping, card games, and sports reignited cherished childhood memories. Additionally, I was able to help my parents around the house with laundry and cooking. I often think about UW Madison and all that I love about the university. Inspired by the stories shared by my cousin, Shawn Chen, currently enrolled in Wisconsin’s School of Business, the prospect of broadening my business acumen and fostering new friendships fills me with excitement. UW Madison’s research opportunities, esteemed professors, and strong school spirit only solidify me in my dream of attending. I truly hope that I’ll be spending the next four years at this university where there are unmatched academic opportunities and thought peers to learn from. Thank you very much for your consideration of my application. Have a wonderful week ahead! Yo-Lun (Alan) Chen
