Unexpected Discoveries in Science. Hello, everyone. Today I want to tell you about some unexpected discoveries in science. The first is microscope which was invented by Jensen, the owner of an eyewear shop in the Netherlands, and his father Hans in the late 16th century. One morning, Jason was playing on the rooftop. Unintentionally, he placed two protruding glass sheets into a metal tube and used this tube to view the buildings on the street. Then he found that what he saw was several times larger than before which made him very excited. He told his father about this discovery, and they combined all kinds of glass sheets together to invent the first microscope in the world. The second is the discovery of the theory of universal gravitation. Newton was thinking problems under an apple tree when a ripe apple fell and hit his head suddenly. Then he started to think about why apples would fall and the moon would not fall to Earth. Though carefully thinking, Newton realized that the reason why the moon would not fall was there was both a driving force and a pulling force of gravity on the moon, while the reason why an apple would land was the pulling force of gravity, which led Newton to discover the theory of universal gravitation. The third is the discovery of X-rays. One evening in 1895, physicist Roentgen discovered a type of radiation that could through two meters of air or even a thick book. His wife suddenly saw the image of her finger bones on the screen. Then Roentgen believed that this radiation was a great discovery and named it X-rays. There are still many more unexpected discoveries in science. This inspires us to be good at observing and discovering in our daily life. We should always be curious for things in daily life.
