Many words in everyday language come from music, for example: “I hope the
evening doesn’t end on a sour note,” or “Even if you make a wisecrack, he
doesn’t miss a beat but keeps on talking.” Many musical terms can be used in a
musical context or in an everyday context.
Musical language used in musical context:
The quartet of carolers sang in perfect harmony.
Musical language used in everyday, nonmusical context:
We should all try to get along and live in harmony.
Each sentence contains a word from music. On the line, write either musical or
nonmusical to show how the word is used in the sentence.
