No.: 0 Temporary MOC Date 2024 Permanent MOC No. ……………. Title: Replacing the bolt of steamer 50-0 inner tube clamp fixation with casted & Machined bolt with same SS 316 material according to ASTM A193 Gr B7M Background: Description of Change Scope of Change Reason for the Change AIM Observed a dismantled welded bolt while internal inspection of steamer 50-0, which is critical as it affects the reliability of the clamp required to fix the inner tube and has potential impact on the operation & safety of the steamer system. The original bolt was made from SS 316 stainless steel, and we faced an issue buying a new bolt with the same specification. Machining a replacement bolt with the same SS 316 material and ensure that the replacement bolt meets all the required tolerances & specifications required for fitness for service according to ASTM 193 Gr B7M. Replacing the original bolt with casted & Machined same SS 316 material according to ASTM 193 Gr B7M 1) Due to issues with purchasing a new bolt with the same specification (SS 316) from market suppliers, a replacement was necessary to maintain operational integrity and safety of the steamer. The material issue impeded timely acquisition of the exact part, necessitating an alternative solution. 2) Replacement Bolt: A new bolt was machined to the same size and specifications (SS 316) as the original. This machining was performed to ensure the replacement met the required material properties and dimensional accuracy. Justification of the Change If applicable, please include associated documentation relevant to MOC Request Mitigations / Recommendations: 1- 2345- 6- 1. Risk Assessment P&ID Standard Other Supporting Doc. Material Compatibility: The replacement bolt was made from SS 316 to match the original material specification, ensuring it retains the necessary corrosion resistance and high temp strength. Machining Precision: The new bolt was machined with attention to dimensional accuracy and surface finish to ensure proper fitness and performance. Quality Control: The new bolt underwent thorough inspection to check for defects or deviations from stated specifications. Documentation: All maintenance and repair records were updated to reflect the replacement and machining details, including material certificates. Testing: send a sample from cast & machining bolt to CMRDI (Central Metallurgical Research & Development Institute) to check the chemical composition and ensure the required physical properties as per ASTM 193 Gr B7M. Welding process: recommended electric welding with the stainless-steel filler material (welding electrode) compatible with the clamp original material. Ref.
