It was my first day of my work immersion and I was assigned at the City
Governor’s Office, specifically in the Provincial Treasuries Office (PTO) were I
immerse for ten days which was the one of departments there. I couldn’t help but felt
a bit nervous as I was surrounded by a lot of activity and different kinds of people.
The Office of the Governor has a lot of activity to do and people to meet too which
was included politicians and high-ranking officials. The atmosphere was composed
of professionalism and a purpose that at first you might feel uneasy but actually it a
was a great opportunity to earn more knowledge.
Among the employees, there was an air of diligence and expertise that was
somewhat intimidating for me. Thinking if I would be able to meet their expectations
and perform my task efficiently makes me shiver. However, despite of nervousness, I
felt a wave of excitement at the same time because I knew that experience will provide
me with valuable skill and knowledge that I could not obtain anywhere else.
We also attend the flag ceremony at the Capitol’s Park and after that we had an
orientation led by the employees of HR. It was followed by introducing ourselves to
the Provincial Treasuries Office (PTO) staff and my first task that given by Sir Yanos
was sort-outing the papers. I was also entrusted for computing the land tax and
encoding. For me the difficult task that I’ve encounter there was computing the land
tax because once you didn’t get the formula and the right computation, you will not
be able to get the right land tax that you computed and it will affect in encoding the
details. This aspect of my role emphasized the importance of meticulousness and the
necessity of keeping accurate records for computing the land tax.
On that day also, I learned how to socialize and communicate professional
employees and how to correctly respect the high-ranking officials. I also learned that
in every hard situations all you needed to do was to work hard. It was hard for us to
got involved in the reality of life through work immersion. We found it difficult at
first since we didn’t know how to start and it taught me different types of learnings.
It was not important how intelligent and knowledgeable you are but also you
need to show your good personality in facing other people. It was also includes
socialization with other employees which was I found out a bit hard. With this work
etiquette, I’m sure that I can build a strong bond and be a good colleagues inside or
outside the workplace.
After performing my tent days of work immersion, I can say that I am capable
of doing this kind of job. In a short period of time, I gained additional knowledge and
application of the principle that they taught in school and it gave me a great help to
adapt something worthwhile on our workplace.
Lastly, I’m very thankful and glad to met the staffs at Governor’s Office. I was
not be able to adjust and socialize them if they are not treated us well. I was proud to
be a part of their family and organization for the short period of time. I would not
denied that I simply want to go back there to say “thank you” multiple times.

PREFACE
Work Immersion will help develop learner’s life and skills career, and will
prepare them to make decisions on past-secondary education or employment. The
guidelines read, through partnership building, DepEd hopes partner institutions will
provide learners with work immersion opportunities, workplace or hands-on
experience, and additional learning resources, it added. The agency said, schools may
partner with recognized institutions or organization to come up with agreements on
work immersion for students. As students are still minors, DepEd said that work
immersion requires parental consent.
Work Immersion is one of the course requirements for graduation. A senior
high school student has to undergo work immersion in a business
organization/establishment where work requirements are related to specialization.
Through this work immersion, the students are exposed to and familiarized with
work-related, a key feature in senior high school curriculum. It canbe conducted in
different ways depending on the purposes and needs of the learners.
