Your class has attended a panel discussion on facilities that should receive money from local authorities. You have made the notes below: Which facilities should receive money from local authorities? museums sports centres public gardens Some opinions expressed in the discussion: “Museums aren’t popular with everybody!” “Sports centres mean healthier people.” “A town needs green spaces – parks are great for everybody Most facilities are in need of funding to keep up with the current demand of the population for modernization. Sports centres and public gardens should be prioritized in regard to choosing where money is allocated as they would fulfill a majority of necessities. Technological development has had a crucial impact on the health of individuals, as the rate of people who are sedentary or those who have stopped exercising is on the rise. Funding sport centres could be a way to mitigate this issue as more people would be drawn to trying out activities that interest them. For example, most people are bored of the usual working out in gyms or simply walking. Running tracks or swimming pools have more appeal for the general population and would significantly increase the interest in practicing sports. As urbanization reaches greater levels, it is easy to overlook green spaces as unnecessary. However, they not only provide a place for people to spend their time, but also improve air quality. Cities also tend to become heated during warmer seasons and trap the heat, lowering the quality of life. The addition of green spaces implies a reduction in harmful gases in the atmosphere, and an increase in satisfaction as it helps regulate common problems found in cities. Both facilities have their own benefits, but I believe public gardens have the potential to achieve a greater quality of life, while sport centres aren’t as necessary. Word Requirement: 220- 260 words Dear (friend) In the past two weeks I’ve started weightlifting at your request, as a way to be more active and take care of my health. Even though I was relatively confused at the beginning, I am amazed at how quickly I began to learn and discover new information! You know how long I’ve been struggling with my weight and this turned out to be the most efficient way to help it. In just two weeks, I started seeing a few differences: I am less tired during the day, even if I do more physical exercise, more organized with my schedule, and most notably, I’ve lost a few kilograms. You really hit the nail on the head with what was missing from my free time! As for the equipment, I decided not to buy a gym membership, but to purchase basic tools: a barbell, a bench, some weightlifting disks and adjustable dumbbells. I admit, it was expensive, but I believe I’ll make my money back if I stick with it. I decided to follow a basic fitness routine that is split into five days a week and that uses only the equipment I have .Moreover, going to the gym would have been a great inconvenience since it is so far from where I live. What do you think about my new hobby and how could I change it so it fits my needs better? I look forward to your response! All the best, (Your friend)
