Our flag is a symbol of our identity and unity. It is pride of a Pakistani nation. It has two
colours green and white. It has a white crescent in the centre and a five-pointed star. The
white colour symbolizes minorities and green colour symbolizes Muslim majorities. The
crescent on the flag represents of progress and the five rayed star signifies light and
knowledge. There are many occasions on which the Pakistani flag is traditionally hung or
flown.

The flag of any country is symbol of its unity, pride and identity. We should avoid hatred and

True Friends

One day three friends a turtle, a crow and a mouse saved the deer from the hunter.
The deer thanked them a lot for their help. He became their good friend from that
day.
The friends helped the deer and made him free but the hunter approached. All of
them hid themselves except the poor turtle. He could not find any safe place to hide.
When the hunter arrived, he became annoyed to see the torn net and noticed the
turtle. He picked him up, tied him on his bow and disappeared into the forest.
They made a plan to save the turtle’s life. The deer would act as if dead lying on the
hunter’s way. When the hunter would see him, he would put the turtle down and
the mouse would cut the strings.
I like the part of the story when they found a helpless deer, then they all tried to
save him from the hunter. I like this part because they all became united at once and
saved the deer. Then the deer became their true friend.
I always help my friends whenever the need me. Once my friend, Saad was worried
due to his low grades in the monthly test. I helped him in preparation and he got
good grades in next exams. He thanked me. I felt happy after helping him.

Elements of a fable
Characters: Four friends, a turtle, a crow, a mouse, a deer and a hunter
Setting: A forest and a lake
Plot: There were three friends a turtle, a crow, a mouse. Once they found a deer running
from the hunter. They saved his life and he also became their friend. Then the hunter
caught the deer, they helped him in his escape. But the hunter caught the tortoise in anger.
Then they made a plan and also helped the tortoise. They promised to help each other.
Theme: A true friend always helps his/her friend in need. A true friend always stands by
your side and supports you in your difficult times. A true friend should be valued. True
friends are a great treasure so we should value them.
Conflict: When they tried to help the deer to escape from the net, the hunter caught the
tortoise.
Resolution: All friends became united and thought a plan. They freed the tortoise from the
hunter. They learnt the value of true friendship.
Fable
A shepherd tended his master’s sheep near a dark forest not far from his village. Soon he
became bored of his daily routine. One day as he was sitting idle and watching his flock of
sheep. An interesting idea came to his mind. He ran towards the village shouting at the top
of his voice, ‘Wolf! Wolf!’ As he expected, the villagers who heard the cry left their work and
ran to the pasture. But when they reached there, they found the boy laughing at the trick he
had played on them. A few days later the shepherd again shouted, ‘Wolf! Wolf!’ Again the
villagers ran to help him, only to be laughed at again. Then one evening as the sun was
setting, a wolf really came out behind the bushes and fall upon the sheep.
In fear the boy ran toward the village shouting loudly ‘Wolf! Wolf!’ But though the villagers
heard his loud cry, they did not run to help him as they did before. ‘He cannot fool us again,’
they said. The wolf killed many sheep and then slipped away into the forest.
Moral: If you keep lying, no one will believe you even if you are speaking the truth. Always
speak the truth.

A person’s friends are the closest and most special people in that person’s life. A friend is
someone with whom we share our joys and sorrows of our life. Best friends support each
other in everything they do. I have two friends, Ali and Hamza. They are my classmates. My
both friends belong to respectable and educated families. We spend most of our time
together at home and in school. We all like to play cricket in the evening. Ali is talkative and
Hamza always tells me funny jokes. Ali is good at mathematics and Hamza has good drawing

The crow was an interesting character of this fable. He was wise and intelligent. When
they found the deer, he flew above the trees immediately and checked whether the
hunter was coming behind it. He assured the deer that by the hunter had gone away. He
was also caring and thoughtful. When the deer did not come, he flew through the forest
looking for the deer. He found out that the deer was caught by hunter. He consoled the
deer and told this news to all other friends. He also carried the mouse on his back. While
helping the deer, he kept an eye on the hunter. He was always there to help his friends.
His character showed that he was a good friend.
A true friend always helps his/her friend in need. A true friend always stands by your
side and supports you in your difficult times. A true friend should be valued. True friends

Unit 3
Health is the Real Wealth

Physical exercise and sports are very important in order to keep the body healthy. It
helps blood to circulate properly. It reduces risk of heart diseases. It controls weight

Our regular meal should have a balanced proportion of carbohydrates, fats, proteins,
vitamins, minerals and water. Nutritious and fibre-rich food, e.g. fruits and green
vegetables, also plays an important role in our overall health. We should eat green
vegetables. Fibre-rich food, such as whole grain wheat and bran helps us improve
our digestive system.
Cleanliness is the key to health. Without cleanliness it is very difficult to maintain

keep my room clean.

Hazrat Umar Farooq

wrong’. Hazrat Muhammad gave this title to Hazrat Umar.

one of the bitterest enemies of Hazrat Muhammad before accepting Islam.
Hazrat Umar had many qualities. His two qualities which I like the most are his

Islam became a great force and power under his reign. He provided easy and
immediate justice to everyone.
Hazrat Umar was one of the closest companions of Hazrat Muhammad. He is the
second caliph of Islam. He belonged to Adi family of the Quraish tribe in Makkah. He
was one of the educated people among the Quraish. He was non-Muslim in the
beginning and, by occupation, he was a businessman. Before accepting Islam; Umar
(R.A) was one of the most extreme enemies of Muhammad (SAW). After accepting
Islam, Muslims became powerful. It was Hazrat Umar under whose rule Islam
became an international power. He was a great inspiration to all Muslims.

The title of Hazrat Umar was ‘Al-Farooq’.
Hazrat Umar originated an efficient system of administration. He gave stipends to
the poor and children. He introduced rules and regulations and implemented them
in the state. There was complete rule of law. He improved agriculture and economy.
Hazrat Umar father’s name was Khattab Ibn Nufal.

The name of our beloved prophet is Muhammad (PBUH). He was born in Makkah, Saudi
Arabia. His father’s name was Abdullah who died before his birth. His mother’s name was
Amina. She died when he was 6 years old. After the death of his mother, Hazrat
Muhammad’s (PBUH) grandfather, Abdul Muttalib, took care of him. When he was 8 years
old, his grandfather also passed away. Then his uncle Hazrat Abu Talib took the
responsibility of his care.
Muhammad (PBUH) was a truthful and honest man. He never told a lie. In Makkah, a
business woman, Khadijah heard about the honesty of Muhammad (PBUH) and requested
him to do trade for her. Khadijah made a healthy profit due to the honesty of Prophet
Muhammad (PBUH). She was very much impressed by his honesty, so she sent a marriage
proposal to him through a friend. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) discussed it with his uncle
and accepted her marriage proposal. At the time of marriage, Muhammad (PBUH) was 25
years old and Khadijah was 40 years old.
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to go to a cave, Hira, in the nearby hills to spend time
alone thinking about the Creator of the universe. He was 40 years old when Allah sent the
first revelation of the Holy Quran to him. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) invited the people of
Makkah to worship Allahalone. They did not accept his message and got angry with him. He
preached in Makkah for 13 years but they did not listen. Then, Prophet Muhammad
migrated to Madinah. Madinah was the first Islamic society based on brotherhood, equality
and honesty.
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) lived for 10 years in Madinah. He passed away at the age of 63,
in the month Rabi ul-Awwal, 11th Hijrah. He was buried in his house near Masjid al-Nabawi.
Our beloved Prophet (PBUH) had an exemplary character. He always spoke the truth. His
enemies also admitted his good qualities. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) always respected his
elders and was kind to children. He spread the message of love and peace. He never scolded
his servants. We must follow the teachings of Prophet Muhammad. We should respect our
elders and be kind to each other.
Unit 5
The Day of Conquest

body movements, gestures, etc. Gradually I overcame my fear and now I can deliver
a speech with full confidence.

My favourite animal is the elephant. It is the large mammal on Earth. It has four legs which
looks like large pillars. It has big fan-like ears and a special body part which is its trunk. A
male elephant has two long teeth called tusks. Elephants are herbivorous animals. So they

But the spider did not lose hope with the sixth failure and kept trying. It got ready to try for
the seventh time with still more care and effort. The king almost forgot his own troubles as

“I, too, will try a seventh time!” cried king.
He stood up and called his men together. He told them about his plans and sent them out

Last Sunday I made a plan to visit a historical place with my friends. We decided to visit the
tomb of Jahangir. We entered through the main gate. There were many big grassy plots
there. We saw many large trees. Many footpaths were running this and that way. There
were small canals about one foot deep and four feet wide. Water was flowing in these
canals. A few birds were bathing in the water. Fountains were flowing and it all presented a
very delightful sight. There were beautiful flower beds on both sides of these canals.
Cypress trees were growing in rows. A grand marble building stands in the midst of the
garden. Jahangir, the great Mughal Emperor, lies buried in it. A grand minaret stands at each
corner of the building. These minarets have distinctive features. If we see the Badshahi
Mosque, from one of the minarets, only three minarets are seen. Similarly, if we see the
Jahangir's tomb from the minarets of Badshahi Mosque, only three minarets can be seen.
We also visited Asif Khan's and Noor Jahan's mausoleums. We appreciated the masons of
the past for their skill and architecture. After walking around for a short time. We left. We
enjoyed the visit very much.

kindness . As a result he will inherit the factory from Mr. Wonka. He was a sweet,

factory because of his good qualities.
