What is Ozone?
Ozone is an amazing molecule that can be used in many different ways. It’s a gas
made of three oxygen atoms (O3). While it’s close in its molecular makeup to oxygen
(O2), it is very unstable which gives it the properties we want from ozone.
This instability is what makes ozone one of the strongest oxidants known to man. Oxidants are molecules that steal from parts of other molecules. They take parts of the
molecule from them, causing them to break down into smaller molecules.

How the Ozone Generator Works
There is a very important and distinct difference between ultra-pure ozone generators
and generators for other purposes. When you go online, you will see a lot of ozone
generators used to purify water, air, aquariums, pools, etc.
Ultra-pure grade ozone generators put out an extremely pure form of ozone. Other
generators produce contaminants.
How to Get An Oxygen Tank
Oxygen tanks are required to make ultra-pure ozone because they contain ultra-pure
99.9% oxygen. Ambient air — the air in the room you’re in right now — is only 21%
oxygen. Even oxygen created from an oxygen concentrator is only 95% pure (at best).
Neither of these options are sufficient to produce ultra-pure ozone.
Here are 2 options for procuring an oxygen tank:
1. You can easily obtain a 540 oxygen tank from an industrial
supplier — like Airgas, Praxair, or any welding supply company — without a commercial license. The oxygen inside a 540
tank is 99.9% pure. Simply go in and ask for a 20cu/ft oxygen
tank (size “R”), or a larger 40cu/ft oxygen tank.

2. Another option is to obtain an 870 oxygen tank from a
medical supply store, but it requires a prescription from your
doctor. The oxygen inside an 870 tank is 99.9% pure — no
purer than the 99.9% oxygen in the 540 commercial tank.

To connect your oxygen tank to the ozone generator you’ll need a simple device called
a regulator. Your ozone kit comes with a regulator — you just have to tell us which size
you’ll need.
•
If you’ll be using a 540 commercial oxygen tank, choose the 540 regulator with your
kit. (It doesn’t matter the size of the tank.)
•
If you will be using an 870 oxygen tank, choose the 870 regulator with your kit.
It’s easy and free to exchange regulators if you change your mind later.
