Drill: Decimal to Percent/ Percent to Decimal Game
The teacher will group the class into 4. Each group will choose a leader. The group leader
will be the one to write their answers. If the group will get the correct answer, they will be
given 1 point. They will change the given percent into decimal, then decimal to a percent.
Present word problems to the pupils.
Michelle is excited to buy the pair of shoes that she will wear for her graduation. She was
excited when she saw her dream pair of shoes on sale. From Php 1,395.00, it is now sold
at a 20% discount. Therefore, Php 279.00 will be deducted from the original price of the
shoes and will be the amount Michelle will save.
Guided questions:
What problem is about?
What makes Michelle feel more excited?
How much will Michelle save if she buys the pair of shoes?
Is it important to save money?

From the problem above, we have learned that 20% of ₱1,395.00 is ₱279.00.
20% is the Rate (is the expression with the % symbol or it is a number written with the word
“percent”)
₱279.00 is the Percentage (is the part of a whole; part of ₱1,395.00)
₱1,395.00 is the Base (is total or whole and it is the number that usually follows the phrase
“percent of” or “% of”)
