Dear Mr Cooper,
I have always believed that my greatest strength is in my want for the excellence of this very
company. This dedication has fueled my contributions to our team, allowing us to achieve
remarkable achievements. However, even the most hard-working people, need a moment to
recharge, and I find myself at a need of rest. For example, the people of Mexico work much
harder than any of their fellow OECD members, clocking in an average of 2,148 hours per year
at work. Do you think they would have achieved this great feat without a little bit of rest? Of
course not!
I would like to share something that we often overlook in our institution: mental health. Over the
past few months, I have poured my heart, soul and blood into every project I have ever done,
which includes working extended hours and on weekends to meet our high goals. This
commitment has produced numerous significant achievements, such as increasing our stock
usage to 20% meaning that over 1,300 people use our stock company to input their investments
every 2-3 months. Yet, the pace that I have been working has also led to my mental exhaustion, a
factor that I personally believe could heavily impact my effectiveness and my mental health.
A day off to reset would allow me to return with a sharper mind, ensuring that I can maintain the
high standards we both value and, I dare say, my insanity. Research from the American
Psychological Association states that the importance of mental health days sustain productivity
and creativity. Taking this step will help me prevent burnout and ensure that I can continue to
contribute amazingly to our team’s success.
I assure you that I will complete any pending tasks before my day off and will make
arrangements to ensure that my leaving does not disrupt our work balance. I am also willing to
make up for any lost time upon my return, if there is any. I appreciate you for considering my
request and I am in full gratitude for your understanding and support regarding this matter.
