CD 8 cells
• CD8 T cells, also known as cytotoxic T cells,
• Vital part of the immune system's defense against infections and
cancer.
• Equipped with T-cell receptors (TCRs) on their surface, CD8 T
cells can recognize specific antigens presented by infected or
abnormal cells.
• Once activated, they transform into cytotoxic T lymphocytes
(CTLs) capable of directly killing these target cells.
• CD8 T cells also have the ability to form long-lived memory cells,
providing rapid and robust immune responses upon re-exposure
to previously encountered pathogens.
• Their role in viral infections and cancer immunotherapy makes
them crucial components of adaptive immunity.
