OUR PRINCIPLES IN ACTION Making the classroom SAFER A community-led framework Common language to talk about how we work together Development focus, supported by a range of materials Teaching Spaces: Making the Classroom SAFER Where it is safe to do so, small group teaching will take place on campus. Other teaching, including larger sessions and lectures, will be delivered online. Teaching staff should know in advance the number of students in a given class and ensure that, during the teaching session, the number does not exceed the maximum number for the relevant teaching space. During enrolment, students commit to staying up to date with guidance on staying safe on campus and online. However if students do not comply with CV-19 H&S measures within a teaching space and the staff member concludes that that situation cannot be made safe, they may terminate the teaching session. Teaching staff can use the SAFER acronym as a memorable approach to manage non compliance in the classroom. Sessions should not be terminated if these students do not wear face coverings. Should sessions be rescheduled? No. These teaching sessions should not be rescheduled and students should be asked to undertake alternative, online learning activities. What if students debate the efficiency of safety measures?
