Complete the following problems by drawing the re ection
Mini Lesson – Properties of an Image
Read through the lesson then complete the table below.
In each drawing you are drawing the image that corresponds to the object
Each image can be described using the acronym S.A.L.T. which stands for Size, Attitude,
Location, and Type.
Size refers to the size of the image compared to the object. It can be larger, smaller, or the
same size (roughly).
Attitude is referring to if the image is it upright or is it upside down when compared to the
object.
Location is the location of the image. The location uses any key landmarks that are available.
In the case of plane mirrors, the best landmark is that of the mirror itself. It can either be infront
of the mirror (on the same side as the object ) or it can be behind the mirror (on the opposite
side from the object).
Type – there are two types of images. It can be real or virtual. A real image means it can be
projected onto a screen. When using a mirror a real image will be on the same side as the
object. A virtual image cannot be projected on a screen, and when using a mirror the image
will be on the opposite side of the mirror from the object.
Circle the description that matches the images (hint – they should all have the same properties
therefore the same descriptions)
