Dear Sirs,
Application for a position as a Teacher of BAFS for the school year 2023/24
In response to your advertisement from the Ming Pao Jump's website, I am writing to
express my interest in applying for the above-said post in your College.
Having been working in the education field for more than a decade, my specialty in
teaching is broad and comprehensive, specialising in Business ( BAFS ), Accounting
and English up to and including A-levels. My teaching areas are also extended to
other humanity subjects like Liberal Studies, Economics and Social Studies at both
middle and senior levels. Throughout my teaching career, I have developed skills in
designing curricula tailored to the specific needs of students.
My present job, working in an international school setting with Cambridge IGCSE and
A-level curricula for business, accounting and even economics, has broadened my
knowledge and skills in handling subject matters in various syllabi. This has enriched
me in getting more ideas to make the subjects more relevant and practical for students'
learning.
With years of teaching experience, I found learners would attain better with the transdisciplinary learning approach. This is particularly useful for students in understanding
complex concepts. Through inquiring and activities-based teachings, students would
have autonomy in their learning. They could then go beyond the underlying disciplines
of knowledge to learn their interrelationship and apply them to everyday life. With the
effective use of case studies for local and international companies, students would be
aroused and raise their spectrum of learning for the subjects. By joining projects and
competitions held by external organization, they would be motivated to explore and
extend their learning.
Completing my second degree in Psychology has empowered me to handle the
student's academic and psychological needs confidently. With solid experience in the
Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) and the Career and Guidance Team in my
previous schools, I was a good team player in liaising and communicating with different
stakeholders in the school. My experience as an accountant in private and public
sectors has put me an advantage over others in sharing with students what to expect
from the business world. An individual's potential can only be explored and developed
through constant contact and mentoring.
As a trained teacher with a business and language study background, a master's
degree in finance and a second degree in psychology, together with a long working
history in the education field, I have the types of knowledge and skills required relevant
to work as a BAFS teacher for your college.
