PROCEDURES
PREPARATION
1. Gather equipment needed
 Towel
 Soap
 Water
ASSESSMENT
2. Prepare and assess hands
 File the nail short
 Remove all jewelries
 Check hands for breaks and cuts
PROCEDURE
3. Turn on water and adjust the flow
4. Wet hands thoroughly by holding them under running water
5. Apply soap and lather in circular motion, rubbing it firmly between the hands
6. Hold hands lower than elbows so that the water flows from the arms to the fingertips
7. Thoroughly wash and rinse hands
 Use firm, rubbing and circular movements to wash the palm, back and wrist for each hand
 Interlace the fingers, thumb, and move hands back and forth
 Continue the motion for at least 10 seconds
8. Rinse the hands
9. Turn off the water
10. Thoroughly dry the hands and arms with hands and arms with towel.
